Everybody loves the Durham Bulls games, for good reason. Good concessions, nice clean facilities, and BIG OLD BEERS. The game itself is almost the icing on the cake. Seriously, though, this is just one of those great, quintessential Durham experiences. The Bulls are affiliated with Tampa Bay Devil Rays, if you're curious. If you've seen the movie "Bull Durham," that was set in the old athletic park. The one that games are currently played in is brighter and shinier than the original, but still has plenty of personality, including a big wooden bull who blows smoke and waves his tail for home runs. read more

The DBAP is a great place to bring the kids and out-of-town guests for good old-fashion baseball fun. It's a well maintained/clean ballpark. Ticket prices are decent. The staff is friendly. There are good food options and activities for the kids between innings. The sumo wrestling cracks me up. Every. Time. Coming to the DBAP makes me feel like a kid again. There's nothing like sitting in the stands with your hot dog, lemonade, cotton candy and rooting for your home team. And who doesn't love Wool E. Bull?! Bless his heart. He's out there in that mascot uniform in sweltering heat pumping up the crowd. I always tell the Peanut that she could be watching a future Tim Lincecum, Buster Posey, Aubrey Huff or Javier Lopez. The last two were former Bulls. Yup. We're San Francisco Giants fans, and being away from them is depressing. However, I feel lucky that we have a great Triple-A team like the Durham Bulls so close to home. read more

First class ball park for a baseball game. Ticket is reasonable, foods and beverages are excellent but not over priced. You can find parking on the street and not too far from the ball park. I've been to other MLB ball parks like SF, Seattle, Denver, Oakland but Durham is my favorite. read more

Its pretty much the best Triple A ballpark on the East Coast. I should know, I've been to a ton. Its my passion! If you're a Triangle native, transplant, or entertainment seeker - you need to catch at least one game at the DBAP! Try a "bulldog", make sure you get some local craft beer, and stay away from the pretzels - the one thing they need to work on! read more

This town ain't big this town ain't small It's a little of both they say Our ball club may be minor league but at least it's Triple-A We do the wave all by ourself Hey ump, a blind man could've made that call This is a fantastic time going to a game here at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, kind of reminds me of Camden Yards in Baltimore, MD or Fenway in Boston, MA with the Blue Monster in left field. I love the between innings shows like the races or Sumo match. Love the fireworks when the Park has them. There are many concession stands selling beer, hot dogs, pizza, burgers, pretzels, soda, BBQ pork sandwiches and more. Sodas sell for $3.00 to $4.00 and beer goes from $3.00 to $7.00. Many sandwiches and hot dogs go for $3.25 some meal platters are up to $11.00 There are not many bad seats at the ball park and the can be purchased in person or online. Tickets go for $5.99 on up to 9.99 per person. The Durham Bulls are the AAA affiliate of Major League team Tampa Bay Rays. Don't forget to watch the movie "Bull Durham." "Awesome, just awesome. Coincidentally the GF and I were able to get a great deal on a few tickets to catch our first Durham Bulls ball game together. I got out of work later than expected, but we were still able to get great parking right next to the park for only $5. We decided to get food and beer before heading to our seats to minimize trips for concessions. We ordered a couple beers that were $6 per, but they were large. I was in the mood for a stadium classic, the hot dog and went with the Bull Dog. Unfortunately, it was not a classic hot dog but some weird take on a hotdog with cheddar in a "pretzel roll" which was actually a crescent. Needless to say, the giant pig in a blanket with cheese was not what I had in mind and after a few innings I was experiencing massive food envy after people watching those around me. We also tried the fried pickle spears. The spears were decent; heavily breaded but with a weak spear inside that offered more mush than crunch. Next time, we will take our time and pick our vendors wisely instead of rushing to get to our seats. We attended Bark in the Park and had a blast being accompanied by 500 dogs and owners. All the K9's were very well behaved and it looked like more of a social event for them rather than for humans. Hands down to all who brought their pets. I would not have had the patience to bring a dog along with all of the distractions, temptations and annoyances that both owners and their companions overcame. I'd say the biggest problem were the people coming and going to their seats habitually, making everyone in their row re-situate every few minutes. The game was pretty uneventful until the 4th and 5th inning and by that point, we were exhausted so decided to call it a night with the Bulls guaranteeing a winner at the bottom of the 5th. I was very impressed with the stadium and the awesome atmosphere in the ballpark. A few things I would like to see improved is the stadium sound system and a better big screen above the score board. read more

Bull Durham is a classic baseball film and one of my favs. This stadium is *not* the same as the movie and had been majorly updated, but it's fantastic nonetheless. Yep, the bull is still in the outfield. Hit the bull win a steak, hit the grass, win a salad. This is a fantastic place to see some baseball. Cheap tickets and not horrifyingly overpriced beers. Cheap beers? No, but they offer craft beer in addition to the domestic crap served anywhere and they also are a bit lower than major stadiums. read more

Going to a Durham Bulls game is one of my favorite summer or spring activities in Durham! First, the club is actually good--really good. Second, the stadium is REALLY nice for a minor league team. Third, the food selection is great. There are a lot of local beer options at the stadium as well as good and different food choices (as well as your typical hotdogs and stadium nachos). Finally, tickets are relatively inexpensive. You also see a great cross-section of Durham (and the Triangle) at the games! Families, couples, groups of friends of all ages, etc.! read more

I love baseball. I also like being able to be outdoors watching a sport for less than what it costs to get into a movie that limits your interaction. There are constantly events going on at the Durham Bulls games, interaction for children and the crowd. Order tickets online couldn't be easier. read more

You can't really go wrong with the Durham Bulls. Tickets are cheap, the stadium is well kept, and there are so many local beers to choose from. There are a lot of great restaurants nearby you can hit up before the game, my favorite is Mellow Mushroom (least favorite is Cuban Revolution). The one thing to keep in mind: if it is hot and the game is mid-afternoon, pay a bit more and get seats in the shade. Otherwise it gets MISERABLY HOT and you will be squinting your eyes in the sun and barely be able to see!! read more

I was a little unsure how my experience would be going to a AAA game because I'm from Denver/New York and am used to going to the Mets/Yankees/Rockies games. But I have been to see the Bulls three times now and have enjoyed every experience so far! First, the prices are extremely reasonable. I've sat behind home plate each time I've been to the game and never paid more than $9/seat. The concessions are also priced pretty well! I'm used to paying a TON for a drink/hotdog but I think this came out to something like $5 at the park (the only thing that was expensive was Rita's...$5 for an ice-cream). Beyond the great value, this park is extremely appealing for fans of all ages. They have a great mascot (Wool E. Bull) that interacts with children and does all sorts of entertaining stuff throughout the game. The field crew also has a silly little routine that they do and it's always good for a laugh. What better way to spend an afternoon/evening in the summer than watching the Durham Bulls :) read more

Just once, I want to see someone hit the bull. It is THE quintessential Durham Bulls sight, looming high above the outfield wall billowing smoke and flashing its fiery red eyes to celebrate a Bulls home run. The bull, and its recent coxmetic update, signifies the balance of tradition and modern conveniences that makes a Durham Bulls game an all-around good time. Easy parking, cheap tickets, and never a bad seat - things the big leagues can't offer. To add to the already great value, the Bulls also offer great group packages for work, family, or friendly outings. Also, last season they offered free parking in the American Tobacco decks if you were in a Saturn (not sure if that's still the case, though). read more

I'm not usually a baseball fan, but I have to admit that the Bulls put on a good show. It's not just that the park (I almost said stadium) is new and well put together (which it is, with clean facilities, helpful staff, and comfortable seats). There's a great energy in the place, much more comradely than any other park I've been to. Matter of fact, each time I've come here I've struck up a great conversation with the strangers sitting near me (pretty unusual for me). Also, try the hot dogs. I don't know what kind they are, but they're great. read more

I gave up baseball during the strike in the 90's. Attempts to reconnect to the sport have been met with failure time and again. Well, there's one exception. I love going to Bulls games. Maybe it's the feel of the DBAP, which just looks like it belongs amid the old warehouses that make up the neighboring American Tobacco Campus. Maybe it's that, on this level, the younger players on their way up are so close to the big time they can taste it. Maybe it's a lot of things, but I mostly think that it's being able to get close enough to heckle the opposing team. I don't want to brag, but I'm pretty sure I made a Richmond Braves outfielder cry one time. There are few better ways to spend your summer evenings than with some friends trying to shake the psyche of an up-and-coming professional athlete over a few beers, a foot long hot dog, and a basket of garlic fries. The high prices on the food don't even matter, because your ticket was dirt cheap. There's even a convenient "snack map" that shows you which stands have what food, right down to the spot that gives you Ice Cream in a helmet. read more

Cheap seats with a good view, good beer that's getting expensive. You really can't beat the price of a ball game here, tickets less than $10 for good seats make for a fun night with some friends or family. The concessions are petty tasty with a nice beer selection; good beer is provided by the ever so tasty Foothills brewery which is $6 a cup, unfortunately smaller this year than last year. Parking is $4 a pop in the adjacent decks, bringing your total out to $20 including tickets and a beer - pretty hard to beat. read more

Great facility, awesome location, and inexpensive tickets. What more can you ask for? Some reviews mention too much sun, but once you've visited the first time, you realize that you should sit home - 1st line for afternoon games and home - 3rd line for evening games if you want to avoid the sun. That's all there is to it. The concession prices are also reasonable for a ball park. Parking is always an issue at crowded game, so you're better off using the pay lot on the third base line side, it's only a few dollars and well worth it not to have to walk in from the outdoor lots up the street. read more

I was STUNNED that this was my first Bulls game... I even BOUGHT tickets for a game last year, I'd still never found the time to go. This summer, I knew I had to change that. After checking out the promotions calendar, my buddy and I splurged for a $4.50/ticket Tuesday night game. Deal of the century. The craft beers at the Foothills Beer Garden were actually more (per beer) than our tickets! But, at $6 a pop, they were cheaper than the $7 tallboys of Miller, and FAR more delicious. Armed with a cold brew, I was ready for action. Mother nature, however, was looking a little worse for wear... Cue rainout nerves. Luckily, before we knew it, she realized that there was a game to be played, hoots to be hollered, and fun to be had. I'll preface this by saying that, growing up, I had no interest in baseball games. They were boring, they were long, I didn't understand them, and it was normally sweaty. Well, clearly, I was all wrong. I think I just needed an attitude adjustment. I went into the Bulls game intending on having a BLAST. And that's exactly what I did. Since we brought in canned foods from Whole Foods, we were graciously given Bulls hats to rock in the stadium. $0.89 for a hat? YES! Then, due to me rocking the adorable hat, I was randomly plucked from the crowd (of no one, for a while... but it filled up later) as the Wild Wing Cafe fan of the game! You know what that means!! Oh. You don't know? Yeah, I didn't either. But, apparently, what it meant was that I got my picture taken and received a $20 gift certificate to eat wings! Other highlights included running after a group of kids to get my hat signed by the Bulls mascot, Wool E. Bull, and rocking out on some ballpark peanuts with my pal. After a brief stretch (aptly during the 7th Inning Stretch), I took a look at the clock, consulted with my cohort, and decided that, while we'd been screaming our faces off all night at the Bulls, we just couldn't stay to see the result (at least not live). At around 9:30, we left (though I checked online later, and the Bulls came out on top! GO TEAM!) Seriously, I couldn't have asked for a better, more affordable night out in Durham. And if I had kids, you better BELIEVE I'd take them. And then I'd use them as an excuse to run after the players begging for them to sign my baseball. read more

What a fantastic place for a ballgame! Set right downtown amidst the newly redeveloped tobacco warehouses and adjacent to the arts center, Durham Bulls Athletic Park is one of the finest venues in baseball. Really, I didn't feel like there was anything "minor league" about this place. Sure, it's not nearly as large as a major league stadium, but that just means that our $9 seats were still fairly close to the action. The food prices were certainly major league, and despite what seemed like a large number of concession stands for a stadium this size, the lines were longer than what I see at Atlanta Braves games. I think we missed an inning and a half, which is ridiculous. And the wait wasn't worth it. I was feeling fancy (I usually am) and went for the wild boar bratwurst, because where else do you find that on the menu? It was bland and boring. Then again bratwurst usually is, regardless of the animal of origin, so I should have known. Just get yourself a hotdog and save a few bucks. Better yet, wait until after the game and go eat some real food. But we got to see the bull snort (and a Bulls no-hitter), so I went away happy. read more

I've been an avid baseball fan my entire life! I'm from the Bay Area and my family grew up going to A's games, but I've also been to my fair share of games around the country too. Every stadium you go to has a different vibe, but I loved going Bulls game. There's something about this stadium that feels extremely homey, welcoming and just perfect. I also watched the movie Bull Durham when I was younger so it was pretty awesome to visit the stadium because of that reason too. But really, this stadium is a great place to go with friends, family, and even coworkers because it has a great ambiance, a true baseball feel to it, and its beautiful. And how can you beat such cheap tickets -- or kangaroo tuesdays where tickets are buy one get one?! read more

Although they blew a 4-0 lead, we had a great time at the Durham Bulls 4th of July extravaganza. This was our first visit to the park and we didn't buy tickets beforehand. We got standing-room only tickets at the gate for $9 each which seemed very reasonable. There were tons of craft beer vendors. They were slightly pricey at $7 but I still enjoyed a few. There were several food vendors but we elected to get an Only Burger just outside the park. When the fireworks started, we were able to get a seat. It was a nice display that went on for about 30 minutes. Overall a great family friendly atmosphere and great place to go for the 4th of July! read more

My wife and I bought a mini-plan. My thoughts on the ballpark experience: -Our seats were in the lower bowl, under the awning. The combination of the shade and the giant ceiling fans over our head meant we were never overly hot, even during hot summer evenings. -If you have to sit in the outfield, it can get HOT. Last time we were there, it was so hot we left the game early... and it was an evening game. -The food there is (for a ball park) affordable -Parking is a pain. Free street parking fills up really early. Parking in the garage is cheap (3-4 bucks), but you wind up waiting in a long line of cars to get to your space read more

Take me out to the ball game.... Every spring/summer I look forward to making the trek from Raleigh to Durham for a night of good ole baseball. The Durham Bulls stadium is right in the American Tobacco campus which is lined with restaurants, offices, and the DPAC so you can really make a night of it. The tickets are very reasonably priced and the stadium is clean and very well kept. They put on great promotions like dollar concessions on Thursday night home games where you can treat yourself to $1 hot dogs and popcorn and soda. Sometimes there are give aways but you can find all that out on their website. I recommend buying your ticket in advance so you can skip the ticket line and so you really have a choice of where you want to sit. Also make sure you bring $5 for parking as street parking is limited and fills up quickly. Lastly, the stadium has lots of food and drink options. There is a newly added Rise station where you can get some of their delicious donuts as well as ice cream and usually stadium food. They have lots of local beers available throughout the stadium including some of the Bulls Stadium very own beer. Overall this is a great option for a cheap, fun night out! read more

Having grown up a New York Yankees fan and having gone to the Stadium many times, I would say I'm spoiled. But having DAP and the Durham Bulls in my back yard is a nice consolation prize. And when you compare the price of a ticket of this fine AAA franchise to the MLB, it is adorn right great deal. The Bulls are one of the best minor league teams in the past few years as their major league affiliate, the Tampa Bays Rays one of the best in the big leagues. The quality of the baseball is excellent as many of these kids are just one step away from "the show". Sometimes, the roster will have a former minor leaguer trying to make it back or on an injury rehab. This year the Bulls had Hadiki Matsui (2009 Wold Series MVP) for a stint before he was called up. Visitors and locals alike should always include the Bulls on their list of places to go when in the Durham area. read more

Pretty fun place to take your kids. I've been coming here for decades and it's always been consistent with service and quality of fun for families. The food is okay, the beer is not too overly priced, and the seating is pretty good. They do a good job cleaning the place up. Parking is never a hassle and there are some good restaurants nearby (good not great..). Overall, good place for the family to go. Alright for a date if you really just love baseball, but otherwise you'd probably rather go to a major league game in another state. read more

So much more heart than the Red Sox (tm). And the bull's nose lights up and smoke comes out.

I'm not normally fond of baseball, but I really enjoyed the Durham Bulls game I attended a couple of months ago. It wasn't my idea to go, but it was a cheap and fun way to enjoy a warm evening. I think my ticket was about $10, and I spent at least another $10 on food and drinks. The food was good, by the way - I had a hot dog and popcorn and both were above-average for ballpark fare. The stadium is well-maintained, the staff is incredibly friendly, and parking is easy. The night I went they had a fireworks show after the game, which I think they do quite often. read more

Is there really anything better then a footlong, ice cold beer and watching some baseball on a warm summer evening? If there is I dont know what that might be. Going to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in the summers is one of my favorite things to do. The tickets and concessions are priced well and there is a wide variety of selections. Not only do you get to see great Minor League baseball (which often includes big leaguers rehabbing from the majors and future stars - Evan Longoria anyone?) but in between innings the folks at the DBAP put on quite a show for the crowd. Parking is easy, and you can start your night at one of the great Tobacco District eateries or wait and go after the game for a beverage while everyone else hustles home. Despite spending million to renovate the park, the concessions lines are still long. And they could have spent a few hundred to improve the condiment stands. Waiting in line for condiments, the hot dogs get cold and your drinks get warm. I missed a while inning (and a Bulls rally) with all the waiting! The combination of moving the scoreboard and covering it with plastic allows the light from the new LED boards to reflect. This results in numbers hard to view from the left side of the stands. They removed the small scoreboard that was by the Bulls dugout, so there is no alternative. Also the ball can get lost in the light from the LED boards when lit with certain colors. I'm sure they thought all the high tech would improve fan experience - sadly it is just the opposite. They could have spent a lot less, improved the food service, and left the scoreboards where they were. read more

The park itself is beautiful! This is mainly a review of their catering services. Lots of concession options if you are attending the game on your own. Where they drop the ball is events on the company terraces. I have attended at least three of these and the food is always terrible! Most recently, I went and tried nearly everything on the buffet in hopes of not leaving hungry; no such luck. It is the standard cook out food (hamburgers, hotdogs, fried chicken), but I am not sure what kind of mystery meat they are using. I would not feed it to my pets (if I had any). They also seem to do a very poor job of stocking the beer at these events. It is hot, it is happy hour... get it together... the beer is going to go quickly. It was always a hodgepodge of beers when we went to get one. They had everything from Corona, Corona Light, Budweiser, Bud Light, and Yuengling, but never at the same time. One time I went up and it was all Bud Heavy, the next trip all Corona. To me, that was just poor planning on the catering's part. Bottom line, if you are invited to a company outing at the Bulls Park, go ahead and eat the food you have to purchase before heading up to the terrace. read more
