Lives can get long do plan in advance. They offered a spectacular fireworks show the evening I attended. Show lasted 15 minutes and was nicely done. Fun outing and recommended. My wife and I are Bulls fans and have been enjoying games at the DBAP for 25+ years now. The Bulls online ticketing app is easy and convenient to use but we have recently encountered an issue with it that we would like to have addressed. Apparently, the default selection for ticket type is "price assurance ticket" which means that unless you know to change it, you will pay extra for ticket "insurance" whether you want it or not which seems misleading. The way you change it is to use the little pencil next to it which when clicked on, gives you the option of also selecting either "standard ticket", which is the cheapest, or selecting "loaded ticket" which allows you to build in $5 for use at stadium concessions if you like. It's not obvious or intuitive as to what the little pencil icon is for because there is no instruction whatsoever to depict its meaning. Many folks are probably unaware that they're paying extra for this ticket insurance and to be FAIR the application should EXPLICITLY show the 3 options available and allow the ticket purchaser to choose accordingly based upon what they want. Failing that, it should default to "standard ticket" which is likely what most folks think they're buying anyway. I'm sure we're not the only Bulls fans who are unhappy with the current set up. Please consider making this change in the interest of treating Bulls fans fairly and not charging them unnecessary fees. Thanks. read more

Durham Bulls is the only baseball game I've ever been to so far, and I enjoyed my visit every single time! The parking traffic gives me slight anxieties. It somewhat reminds me of the State Fair traffic. I'd suggest getting to the stadium area a little early if you don't like being in traffic like me :) Before you enter the stadium and if you have bags, the securities check your bag. Then they also scan your ticket. I didn't have problem finding my seat, food, or drinks in the stadium. The food options are limited but hey, it's baseball stadium! On my last visit, I ordered Hamburger and a cup of some beer. The burger looked greasy so I wasn't sure if I'd like it in the beginning. When I actually started eating it in my seat, I was gladly surprised how good it was! The atmosphere is family-friendly, yet it's good for Friday night date or friends outing. I love coming to Durham Bulls! :) One thing, watch out for baseballs coming at you! I saw at least one person get hit by the baseball in the face. Probably not the most fun experience he had :( Also, on Fridays, Durham Bulls has amazing fireworks. I personally thought this one was better than State Fair fireworks!! read more

Or maybe it's the beer and popcorn but whatever it is, get out to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park this summer! Tickets are easy to get and quite inexpensive (under $10) for one of the best (2009 League Champions) Triple A baseball clubs. The Durham Bulls players are one step away from making it into the bigs for the Tampa Bay Rays so there's some serious talent here. The park is wonderfully small, we sat right in the left field boxes on top of the opposition's bullpen. We thought about heckling the Rochester Red Wings reliever warming up but lack of beer got the better of us... Food options are limited to your traditional ballpark fare but Thursday's are family nights at the ballpark: $1 hot dogs, popcorn and fries so I'm not going to complain. Personnel at the ballpark are all super-polite and personable, total coolness there. And if baseball isn't your thang, they've got silly entertainment in between each inning ranging from kids racing Wool E Bull around the basepaths, to "sumo wrestling" and of course the classic dizzy bat race. One day I'm hoping I'll see somebody hit the bull in left field and win a free steak! Honestly, even if you're not a huge baseball fan, just come on down to enjoy the fresh air, food and scenery. My grandmother and I drove to Durham from Carolina Beach to watch the Durham Bulls play at DBAP. We got parking easily, even on an otherwise busy day (education themed - the stadium was full of kids visiting during the school day). The communication before the game was actually very thorough, as I had even received an email the day before about parking availability and recommendations for lots. I had printed tickets, so we were scanned in quickly. I purchased some items from the team store and we made our way onto the main floor to check out concessions. After purchasing some popcorn, a hot dog, and some coffee then we were on our way to our seats. The tickets I had purchased were 4 rows behind home plate, and my grandmother was excited to be sitting so close. Although the Bulls ultimately ended up losing the game, the day at the park was most definitely a good time. Since we were crunched for time (long drive from Carolina Beach and back), I didn't get to have as much time exploring the area around the park before or after the game; however, what I did see was awesome. I'm excited to perhaps get back here for a game during my next visit down South. Had a great time. :) TL;DR Wonderful day at the ballpark. Very clean, reasonable prices for tickets and concessions, and just a great variety of things to view, see, and do. Would love to come back. read more

Nice ball park and it always get tons of people coming out. There always seems to be just as many people standing or walking around as there are sitting. If everyone was asked to sit, all seats might be occupied. That seems to be the case everytime I was there. Decent craft beer selection; even have their own beers. Good selection is also decent. For my 950th review, I'm going to focus on a mascot that most everyone in the Triangle can love: Wool E. Bull. I mean, look at that guy. He's having such a great time. He gets to hang out with Chewbacca! Wool E. Bull does a lot of wonderful things: he hangs out in the community, and in fact all over the Triangle (I once saw him on the UNC Campus!), he goes to charity walks and other charity things, and he even sometimes dresses up as Santa. Really though, you best know him from Durham Bulls baseball games. He has a lot of fun at those baseball games, wandering the crowds and hanging out with all the kids and people and players. He can never win that race against the kids, but he tries. He has his little car that he drives around. He even has a shirt cannon. Basically, Wool E. Bull is awesome. That is all. read more

Normally, I'd give these guys four or five stars. Yesterday must not have been a normal day. It was 'educator's day,' or whatever the nom du jour is, a day when schools all over the Triangle and beyond come to enjoy some Bulls baseball, with the first pitch at 11:05. (Really there are lots of physics, plenty of math and even language arts connections to be made. Don't judge us if you haven't explored it.) Normally, or at least in years passed, kids receive a special ticket that serves as a meal voucher. They go to one of two stations - down the right field line or the left field line - and surrender their voucher for a pre-packaged hot dog (or the vegetarian option), chips, fruit and drink. Enormous numbers are fed quickly and efficiently, and the kids can go back to enjoy the game (or whatever else they choose to do). Yesterday, however, it all fell apart. With a crowd of over 6,000, most of which came with teachers that had been there before and expected efficiency, the game started... the kids went off for food... and the unthinkable happened. For whatever reason, the left field side had no hot dogs. Zippo. Zero. It's hard to hand out hot dog meals when there are no hot dogs. Kids were told to go to the other end of the park, and get their food there. (6,000 students being served at ONE 4-station window... really?) Once there, kids stood in the sun while waiting to be served. However, there were no 'velvet ropes' or other forms of crowd control... not even any park staff to help out. Mixed in the queue were elementary school teachers with packets of 30 tickets, and so folks were in for a long, long wait to be served. I waited, along with a number of my students, for about 20 minutes while we inched forward another 8 feet. I was not impressed. I decided to blow off the food until later, and go back to do some more chaperoning in the stands. Most of the kids that waited for and ate the food that they'd pre-paid for had to wait in excess of a half hour to be served; they missed the exciting baseball game they'd paid for. Not cool. My recommendation to the management at DBAP: 1) Make sure you have ample staff on hand for these events. (You knew how many tickets you'd sold, so certainly you knew how many little campers to expect.) 2) Make sure your food is ready at least 1/2 hour before you need it. There was ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for one half of your serving line to be without the product they were contracted to serve. 3) Hire a couple of extra staff to work on crowd control. If you don't need them, BRAVO! You've wasted a handful of minimum wage positions (so really haven't impacted your bottom line), and simultaneously made people feel safer, more heard, and better served. 4) Have a separate window marked for people with multiple tickets - say 5+, and the other windows for 4 or fewer orders. That will prevent the massive crowd from lingering without service. I hate to go on about this, and so I won't. I *know* you guys are better than this, and I hate that we had this experience. I know that a number of the hundreds of kids that attended (from our school) had some unhappy things to say about their experience, and how they didn't have fun. Their greatest complaint was waiting for food for more time than they got to watch the game. Take this criticism for what it's worth, and please remember where your next generation of fans is coming from. read more

My father-in-law, bless him, got us a 2012 MiniPlan for Christmas, and today was the first game of the season for us! It was so nice to go when it's not 400 degrees... All the things you love about the DBAP are still here: Wool E., Lucky the Wonder Dog, the sumo wrestlers, the bull that spews smoke for home runs (from the Bulls players, of course!), things for kiddies to do, beer, hot dogs, and oh, yes, the baseball. This year looks to be a "rebuilding year," as they say, given that most of last year's players seem to have been called up. But that's OK. There are some improvements for this season, too. Among them are the new food vendors: Bright Leaf Hot Dogs, Moe's Southwest Grill, Papa John's pizza, Rita's Italian Ice, and the Carolina Brewery. Very, very happy to get coffee at the ballpark now! And the game? I'll let them tell it: "Just when it looked like the Durham Bulls and Gwinnett Braves would head to extra innings for the third straight game, Leslie Anderson delivered a walk-off double to give the Bulls a 6-5 victory." Now that's an ending! Do yourself a favor and take the family to the ballpark. You won't regret it. read more

Im sorry, anything less than 5 stars for this establishment is absurd! I mean think about it, for 9$ you can get excellent seats, and if you go to any Thursday games they have 1$ concessions, (corn dogs, hot dogs, popcorn). They have great beer selections, such as foothills brewing, carolina brewing, etc. There is so much history to this team, and as you walk the stadium and look up at the banners you cant help but feel a bit nostalgic, even if this isn't the original field it still adds a very cool feeling to the whole experience. Founded in 1902, The Durham Bulls are the tripple A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (though they have recently dropped the devil from their name and are now just known as the Rays) but more importantly what this means is you have the opportunity to see some stars roll through, such as Hideki Matsui who was originally signed to the New York Yankees and became the first rookie to hit a Grand Slam in his first game at Yankee stadium and went on to play a major role in helping to win the 2009 world series by hitting 3 home runs and running 8 players in throughout the series tying world series records and receiving the Most Valuable Player award. All this to say, this is nothing short of a five star venue where your dollar really goes a long way, whether you're new to town, live down the street, or just stopping in for a visit, a baseball game with the Durham Bulls should definitely be on the 'To Do' list! This is a benchmark for Triple A Stadium experience, look and appeal. Play Ball Crash Davis knew something when he decided to fall in love with Susan Sarandon and spend his final days in Durham. Now, many upgrades and modifications have been made to this ball park since that film put this team on the map. Right in the heart of downtown Durham is a state of the art American experience. My fiancée and I went here for the 4th of July. We parked off street right near the ball park for $5 but free parking is around if you look for it. It was a full house which was to be expected with the holiday. We didn't buy our tickets till the day off so we got what was available. We got our tickets for $10 and although it out field the view was great, and you can see the large protection screen. However it was a very sunny day and the sun was in our eyes up until the bottom of the 6 inning. We both were wearing Sunglass but next time I'll remember my ball cap! We got to see the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team play the Chinese Taipei. USA won! They had a wonderful firework presentation following the game. Which we saw people all around the outside of ball park to view their fireworks. This was my second baseball game and I was really impressed with the food they offer! Smoked wings, bbq, hot dogs, fish, pizza, cannolis, and the list goes on. I didn't get to try it all but I had a dog with pulled pork. Omg to die for! They also offer a large beer selection, serve wine and liquor. The ballpark is located right in the city so after the game your close to a few restaurants and bars. Woohoo! This is as good as minor league baseball gets! We went on a Thursday night which happened to be $1 hot dogs and sodas night AND fireworks night. The place was crazy packed and the food lines were super long (due to the cheap food). Although the hot dogs were only $1, they were mighty damn tasty! We got seats in the second row just in front of the first base bullpen. Definitely order tickets online ahead of time for these bargain nights. I saw many, many people with the tickets they had printed out at home. The beer selection throughout the ballpark is excellent for a minor league game. You could get anything from a local mircobrew to a monster 22 oz. can of Miller Lite. Beer prices were quite reasonable as ballpark gouging goes. read more

For such a reasonably sized stadium, there are pretty darn good food and beverage choices (including Foothills Brewing drafts) and a very solid team store with a wide variety of Bulls clothing and accessories. I've been here twice now and have always enjoyed myself. The food isnt that good ( although I'm comparing it to Yankee Stadium food which is out of this world) but its cheap. However if that concerns you dont worry because theirs about 5 or 6 restaurants just outside the ballpark and from what I hear they're all pretty good. Aside from the food you'll have a great time here. The stadium is great, theirs a lot of entertainment in between innings and if you're lucky it's always fun to watch the Bull go off in left field. I'm a big fan of all the retro-looking ballparks that were built in the 90s and 00s. The Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP) is one of the best. Since it opened in 1995, continuous renovations have made it an archetype for the perfect minor league ballpark. While I wish we had a minor league team in the City of Raleigh, I can never complain once I get to the American Tobacco Historic District in Durham. Parking is a breeze and inexpensive (especially if you find one on the streets nearby!). If you arrive early for a game, head to Tyler's Taproom to grab a brew at one of their three bars. You can buy tickets online, or outside the park. Most seats in the park are under $10. The DBAP, like my favorite park--Fenway Park, feels like a living museum. Inside and outside you will find artifacts of year's past. I think part of that was because the previous park (the Durham Athletic Park) was loved so much by fans that they needed to go a little extra to make the DBAP feel like home. The DBAP did so well attracting more fans, that the Bulls were promoted from Class A Advanced to AAA (the highest minor league class) in 1998. Like the trend in Major League Baseball parks, you will find an assortment of non-standard concession food at the DBAP, like Chic-fil-A, The Pit, Papa John's and Moe's Southwest Grill. Personally, I stick to the hot dogs and beer. Hot dogs are $1 each on Thursday nights! While I am a Red Sox fan, I will root for the Bulls every game, except when they're playing the Pawtucket Red Sox! The Blue Monster, the cousin of Fenway Park's Green Monster, in left field makes me feel like home. Plus, once upon a time, the Bulls were an affiliate for the Red Sox (in the 40s). read more

The DBAP is basically my favorite place in Durham in the summer. Hell, it may be my favorite place in the world in the summer, especially an afternoon or evening game, with a nice breeze, a sunset, a veggie burrito, and copious amounts of local beers---check out the Foothills Brewing Company beer garden---make for the perfect summertime experience to share with family and friends. And if you enjoy taking photos, bust out that 50mm lens for candid portraits of folks in the crowd---a spectator sport in its own right---or grab that telephoto lens to capture some action shots of the 2009 national champs, the Durham Bulls. You'll get the best shots of the players from first or third base (terrace reserved or field reserved). Position yourself in the diamond view or lawn seating to squeeze the iconic Lucky Strike water tower and smoke stack, a line of old brick tobacco factories, the DPAC, the Blue Monster, and the Bull in your backdrop. During the hottest months, bring sunblock, douse yourself in bugspray, dress lightly, and stay hydrated (i.e., drink some water in between beers). That may all sound like common sense, but if you're way out there in the diamond view in mid-July, you could probably die. Parking is full of heart- and headache. They close down Blackwell St. and, often, DBAP staff or cops will direct traffic. Lexus and, more recently, Kia, have sponsored special parking spots for drivers of their vehicles. I'm still waiting for a Toyota-sponsored parking lot ... guess I won't hold my breath on that one. To park for free, arrive early and try Ramseur or Willard Sts. Both are a couple of blocks from the DBAP. If you're not familiar with downtown Durham, be vigilant about where you drive---many of our fair streets are inexplicably one-way---and about where you park (don't keep valuables in your car, park in a well-lit area, etc.). I have been accosted on more than one occasion by folks with shady stories about needing money or a ride to fix a broken down car, etc. Why would they ask me for help when there are a bunch of cops just a few blocks over? That was a rhetorical question. Probably the safest, most convenient place to park would be in one of the parking decks, two of which are at your disposal, and both offer $4 event parking. You can beat that fee by arriving really, really early, or really, really late. My husband and I take the triple crown mini plan every year. You get nine sets of tickets to predetermined games, and you can switch out your unused tickets for new ones. After the game, head over to Tyler's Taproom for some good beer. I'm a big minor league baseball fan, and have to say that going to the DBAP is something I REALLY look forward to. It's a beautiful park and the ambiance can't be beat. The first time I went, it really seemed like the whole town cleared their calendars and took themselves out to the ballgame. Then there's the merchandise: the shirts are soft (and actually good-looking), the prices are reasonable, and the store has two lines during the game to speed up check-out. And we can't talk about baseball games without talking about concessions. The DBAP has the best variety of food and beer of any farm club park I've been to, even though it just might be the smallest. Finally: the view. While Durham doesn't have the most impressive skyline, it sure is unique and adorable, and the view from the ballpark is one of the best in town. Sure, I can give the Durham Bulls I'm-a-fan status. Not in the I'm-going-to-bring-a-baseball-to-get-signed kind of way; but more in the Player-30-has-a-cute-butt* and I-like-the-beer-selection way. It's good, affordable fun. For families. For friends. For dates. So living in Durham, you might think I'd have gone more than just a few times. Sports just aren't really my thing; but after my most recent visit, I may have to reconsider minor league baseball. True, I didn't watch much of the game. But I :did: watch the amazing 20-minute long fireworks show at the end of the game. And I admit I was just as excited as the five-year-old to my left about the Bull smoking and eyes blazing at every homerun. It's very hard not to be judgmental when meeting someone for the first time. Sometimes you have to look beyond the interesting clothing, the questionable choices in piercings and tattoos, and the brash accent to get to know the wonderful person inside. I really do try. But if you tell me you've lived in Durham for longer than a year and you've never been to a Bulls game, then I'm sorry but there is something wrong with you. What's not to like? It's baseball, which is awesome. The facility, which is now 12(!) years old, was beautifully constructed and has held up the test of time. Heading out to the DBAP is always a treat! Being from the Triangle area, I am able to appreciate the history that lies within the baseball club, even though the games are no longer at the old Durham Bulls Park, there is still lots of tradition steeped in the walls of the DBAP. The great thing about the park is that it is centrally located in downtown Durham so it is accessible to parking, great restaurants, and bars. There really is not a bad seat in the house, although with affordable prices, you can have great seats if you want without breaking the bank. The Durham Bulls always have great promotional deals, and fun activities during the game to liven up the inning change. Wool E. Bull is one of the best baseball mascots I have seen. The promotion and marketing department does a great job of integrating him into the community and making it enjoyable for adults and children alike. If you have the opportunity, spend a summer night or afternoon watching a Durham Bulls game. Baseball as America's past time has long been a favorite of my family as well so I was thrilled when I discovered the Durham Bulls here in the Triangle. I mean, really, don't we have it all here? The Durham Bulls Athletic Park, or DPAP for short, is an awesome stadium with so much American glory to take in! I've been here three times and sat in three different locations. Parking is really organized well. Find a place on the street or in one of the many parking decks. From there it's nice to walk along a flowing stream with small waterfalls to get to the entrance. I've never had the opportunity to check out the restaurants nearby, but I'll be sure to do that soon and take advantage of their validation for parking. If you really want to be able to view the game, but not pay then sitting at Tobacco Road Sports Cafe provides for that opportunity. I, however, prefer to be right in the stadium immersed in all the baseball spirt. This past Friday I sat along the 1st Base Line. Last summer I sat behind home plate. A couple years ago I was in private box. All provided for great views. Quite frankly, like DPAC, I don't think you can go wrong with any seat and they're all rather reasonably priced. The offerings of the concessions amazed me! They have the typical hot dogs, cotton candy, beer, wine, lemonade, cotton candy, and funnel cakes, but they also have some local fare which really impressed my friend and me. Chick-Fil-A is up high near the kids' play area. Then there's The Pit for some local bbq. Papa John's and Mo's are also available for other tastes. Last Friday I indulged in some local beer, a hot dog, and some Papa John's. Mmmmm. The Durham Bulls souvenir shop is also great. Tons of offerings. I picked up a Bulls ball cap and excitedly toted it around like a little kid. So many things to choose from! The enthusiasm, helpfulness, and spirit of all you encounter at the stadium is top notch and fun. It's a great family friendly atmosphere, a work event, or friends looking to kick back and enjoy a ball game and good conversation. I got to experience all of that and you should too. read more

Guy gets a free steak!" - Bull Durham, 1988 Lucky enough to score some tickets for the first opening game of this season last Thursday, thanks to some amazing friends, we brave the chilling winds and a high probable chance of raining and went to support one of our favorite local sports team--the Durham Bulls Baseball. The only faux pas is the parking situation, but if you have visited DBAP long enough, you are bound to find a niche parking corner. Obviously I have mine, and I'm not willing to share just yet ( ^.^ ) The stadium is just big enough to contain everything I love about baseball: foot-long hotdogs, draft beer in plastic cups, just enough shade to hide under when the sun is blazing or when the rain starts to fall, and enough close-up action to yell at the sideline referee for calling an out when our blue jerseys stealing third base, or to catch occasional stray foul balls knocked into the stand. Live baseball has changed little in the past 20 years. The main dish includes 12-16 men coveting a ball on a big grass field. The side dishes are frequent doses of music, mascots, beer and family fun. Enjoying yourself at the baseball stadium is largely about the company you keep. If you come with good friends or family, the spectacle and being part of a crowd will entertain you even if you can't tell a bunt from a double play. As a ballpark experience, Durham Bulls Stadium does a lot of things right. Prices are reasonable, sight lines are clear and there are few bad seats. Fireworks after the games can be a lot of fun. Beers on tap include Carolina Brewery and Fat Tire. Parking isn't miserable. But one thing that has changed is that the stadium has turned into a marketing vehicle, even in the minor leagues. A giant merchandise store greets you at the entrance. Advertising litters the stadium. Multiple elements of the in-game experience are sponsored by Acme or XYZ Corp. In my wildest dreams, the ballpark would experiment with a sponsor-free night: hike ticket prices by $2 and wipe out all advertisements. Just make it about sports and fun. Then I might buy a ticket package instead of just stopping by once a year as a change of pace. read more

I've never been a fan of baseball (not my style), but I had a great time going to see the Bulls play a few weeks ago. A group of us got cheap tickets and were stuck in a sun for a while, but it wasn't too bad. There were dollar hotdogs, fries, and I believe popcorn because it was Thursday. This is a great place to spend a summer evening. The game is slow, but it allows for you to actually talk to and spend time with your companions (as opposed to going to a movie). The park is great and the in between inning entertainment is pretty funny. read more

This was my first outing to a minor league baseball game, even though I have two teams in my area back at home. But, with the whole Bull Durham fame, how could you not check out a game, even if you're not a big baseball fan? My baseball fan-dom has only bloomed in the past three years, but this is an affordable must. Since my traveling companion is also a baseball fan and not much of a night-time person (and also it was a Wednesday when we were in Durham), this was the perfect evening activity. Our tickets were dirt cheap and we were only yards away from the first base line! The minor league games are usually very geared towards families, and there were plenty of families there and young kids. It also was so easy to catch a foul ball (almost did twice!) and even though I wasn't familiar at all with the team or players, I found myself on my feet rooting them on against the Toledo Mud Hens. The sports shop is conveniently located in the front/main entrance so we were able to buy some stuff before sitting. We had a great dinner before hand, so we didn't check out any stadium food, but I did have a local beer for about 5.00. From the looks of it, they had plenty of places to eat and there weren't any lines that I saw. For a fun family activity that is cheap, definitely head over to the stadium. We found parking for 5.00 nearby, in a well-lit area and there was plenty of pay -for parking places nearby. read more

A long-time institution in the Bull City that attracts throngs of people from all over the region, the Bulls are a fun family-friendly affordable entertainment option where you can see high-quality baseball with talented , athletic players. The Bulls play at the Triple A minor league level and their parent club in the major leagues is the Tampa Bay Rays. You can get great seats at the DBAP (Durham Bulls Athletic Park) for under ten bucks, and they have the usual ball park food fair including hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, burritos, barbecue, and beer...you know, health food! I have been to some of the major league ball-parks , including ATL, D.C. and Baltimore. I can honestly say I prefer going to a Bulls game to the majors, because you don't have nearly the number of people or traffic going to the game, parking is much cheaper ($3-$4) and of course tickets and concessions' are cheaper. Now, I won't say the quality of baseball is quite like MLB or "The Show"(as the major leagues is called), but you don't have to sit and wonder if you forked out a wallet full of money to watch a bunch of steroid freaks either (minor league players can't afford performance enhancing drugs). I'm not that into baseball. I find it a slow sport, with some exciting moments interspersed. But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a good live game, especially at the DBAP. The ticket prices are cheap! cheap! and most of the seats have great views of the field. Andrew and I even got free parking across the street from the stadium, woo! They have a variety of food choices that include fan faves, The Pit (BBQ), Carolina Brewery, Moe's Southwest Grill, Chik-fil-A and Papa Murphy's (or John's? I always get those two mixed up). The game itself was ok, they have lots of entertainment for the fans in between changes on the field, and there's a kiddie zone with a jungle gym and putting green. If you're looking for low-key, good ole American fun, this is the place to be. read more

Went to the game on June 9. And I agree with other reviewers: 1. Minor league baseball at it's absolute best 2. Great ballpark Problem areas that need improvement: 1. Game pace was very slow between at bats. It was like they were waiting for the commercials to finish on television broadcasting. 2. Somehow, beneath the stands, there was a lack of baseball enthusiasm. Just a few concession stands selling food and drink. 3. Concession stands themselves. I can understand that the people behind the counter are trying to raise money for their organization but they just don't get the job done. I saw pre-grilled hot dogs (obvious grill marks) being taken out of a pan and placed on the heated rollers. And in this day of healthy eating there is very little in that regard. Bottom line, by all means go see the Durham Bulls! Just make sure you take the family to one of restaurants across the street first. read more

I confess, I hardly care about whatever game I'm seeing at the DBAP. It really doesn't matter, does it? The place is flat-out NICE. Well-maintained, always entertaining and never expensive. It's fun to watch kids big and small of all ages (some of us considerably older than others) enjoying themselves.
