Social distancing? Yes. Friendly staff? Yup. My review is based on the previous statements but also their seafood. Pub food seafood? Yes. I have had the fish tacos, the shrimp tacos and the build a burger with fish. The quality is delicious and the surprising fact is that I get them all grilled and not battered and fried. I have been to fish camps that batter everything but once you order the grilled version it is disappointing. At Dunwellz the fish has been top notch. Don't forget the get the honey wasabi and add on a side of avocado aioli. Have been eating here for 6 years. Always takeout because of a hectic life. The food is always very good. Some things they excel at and some are average but it will always be fresh and plentiful. My issue is with customer service. As an almost exclusively takeout customer I find their wait staff unfriendly. You step in the door and the expected girl at the door finds out your intentions and then usually just points over their shoulder at a register "back in the corner." Then the "corner" person is always forlorn and sad and doesn't seem to enjoy their job at all. In all of my visits there the bartender is the only employee I've ever seen genuinely smile at a customer. I still tip very well regardless because I've worked in food before. I can only imagine their tips overall would be much better if they just turned that frown upside down. But I'll keep going back because the food is very good and the reason I spend my money there. Everything I've tried was good, but the burgers and the wings are exceptional, IMHO. However, if you're going to smile don't expect one in return. read more

Hanging out with friends, we came because one friend had raved about the donut burger. Well surprise surprise I didnt try it because there were so many other things on the menu that were enticing. What I wanted most was the reese cup dessert so I didnt want to fill up on anything else. Our server helped me decide on a few wings (lots of flavors). I stole a few sweet potato tater tots with dipping sauce from a friend (so yummy). Our server was very accommodating and I hate I don't remember her name but if I do I will surely edit this review because she was great. We happened to be there when they started trivia and played 3 rounds. Very fun night with friends, good food and good service. My daughter, my Mom, and I had an early lunch at Dunwellz on President's Day (yesterday). The waitress was very friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent! My friend and I were so surprised about Dunwellz. We were expecting bar food, kinda greasy, but broad menu. We were wrong. They have gluten free options that taste great! Emily was our server and she was amazing. She would get the answers to questions she didn't know already and was quick, kind, and goofy. She really made the experience great. All the other servers that came to our table were equally as positive and a pleasure to be around. You can tell that they like their job - that makes enjoying going there a lot easier. I highly recommend the sweet potato tots. You can get them as an appetizer and they come with a cinnamon butter that it sooooo good. read more

We ate here for the first time around 8:00 on a Sunday evening. It is essentially a sports bar that serves up pretty good food and has friendly, attentive service. My wife and I both ordered tacos. The braised beef, although a bit salty, was tender and tasty and was served with sour cream. The side salad was fresh and loaded with good stuff. The shrimp tacos came piled high with medium sized shrimp and a delicious wasabi sauce. The sweet potato tater tots with cinnamon butter were addictive. Overall bill was about $29 without tip. Rounding things out, the atmosphere was casual and the sanitation score was an impressive 97.5. Would consider returning if in the area. If Yelp allowed, I'd rate it closer to a 3.5 than a 3. read more

First time visiting Dunwellz. About a 30 minute ride from Belmont and "Wellz" worth the drive! On the owners recommendation we shared The Notirious P.I.G.... A perfectly cooked Angus burger loaded with roasted pork and a spicy Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce, topped with cheddar cheese and onion straws! WOW!!!! We also shared the Mac & Cheese Empenadas (penne pasta with a blend of cheddar and Monterey Hack cheeses. Sooo darn delicious!! Great serves from Abi as well! We will be back! read more

This was the very first place in town we tried out before moving here. It's always been one of our go to places in Mint Hill when we are looking at when choosing where we want to eat. Everything we have had here has been great. Generally we start with the spicy fried pickles. Then we have the make your own burger (we choose black bean). My favorite though is the shrimp tacos blackened. The wasabi dressing is amazing. We love the pub chips and the sweet potato tots which comes with a cinnamon butter. Yes those are to die for. They always have the local brews to drink which is always a reason we come. My friend and I have come for karaoke before. That's been highly entertaining! read more

I've tried this place twice and both times, it's a no for me. The patrons are loud and yelled at my son who was playing the crane machine at the door. The food is mediocre at best. I imagine they serve alcohol so you'll eat and think it's good. Not ever coming back. read more

I eat here about once a month and absolutely love the place. The biggest thing that sticks out is how friendly and personable the whole staff is. And given how difficult it is to recruit help in the restaurant industry, this is a huge compliment. I ordered the salad and love the fact I can build my own and get it the way I like it. I enjoyed the drinks here as well as the food, we had to go to a store in Matthews and decided to stop by here. The service was great, our waitress (of course I can't remember her name, blonde haired) was very attentive and happy to serve us! The place was festive for Christmas of course. My only issue was they had a special on beer that Friday, after looking at the receipt for the 3-4 beers we ordered, they were regular price but the drink on special was honored. Which is a bummer, so if we come back I will definitely pay more attention to the receipt! I haven't been inside since 2018 but from what I last remember, this place was great. Nice beer selection, great burgers and friendly fun service. I enjoy when I come into a restaurant and there Is a diverse group of customers and the servers are treating them all with the same level of attention.. Our servers gave me really great recommendations on food combinations. I was able to visit this restaurant four times before COVID-19. I hope to give them another visit in 2021 read more

The health department should really require something to be done about that hair not being contained. Watched waitress' hair get all in people's food and nothing was replaced, just served.
