I made Hank's biggest sale of the day two hexagonal head metric screws for 27 cents each. I went to San Diego Ace Hardware in Clairemont Square, where they were charging 95 cents for each screw, vs Hank's 27 cents. I said NO, not paying $2 for two 1.5 inch screws!!! Ace employee said it was expensive because that is now much a METRIC screw costs. I took one of the screws back to Hanks 2 weeks later because it was too short. Hanks happily gave me credit for the 27 cents so I could trade it for a screw half inch longer for onlyh 5 cens more, or 32 cents, when Ace wanted 95 cents for a shorter one.

If anything, use them to get free measurements and thats it. For jobs, the value is not the best. Sometimes the employees don't know where things are and they always say "i'm new here"... but then I tell them "well I don't work here" and they get bamboozled. Before driving to the store, I called at 1:36 PM to confirm a 24 gun safe was in stock and to verify it could be loaded into my truck. I was told to arrive at least 30 minutes before closing and they would load it with a forklift. I arrived at 7:00 PM, a full hour before closing, only to be given the runaround by the supervisor, Angela. After wasting my time, she finally admitted that she was not experienced enough to operate the forklift and told me to come back another day. That was not an option. I had borrowed a truck, driven hours through traffic, and spent over $75 in gas based on the information their employee provided. Instead of taking responsibility or finding a solution, they showed no concern for the inconvenience or expense they caused. I ended up calling two handymen to help load the 380+ pound safe myself, costing me even more time and money. I decided to wait until the next day and speak with the store manager, Tim, hoping he would make things right. Unfortunately, he was no help at all. He offered no solution, no apology, and no effort to address the situation. That conversation confirmed to me that this store has serious customer service and management issues. By the end of the experience, I would have been better off buying the safe from Turner's or Costco. Poor customer service, poor management, and no regard for customers. I will never shop at this location again and would not recommend it to anyone. Also After being told they could not load the safe because the supervisor claimed nobody was available or qualified, I had to spend additional time and money finding my own help. I have a more recent sink in the kitchen so the nozzle needed isn't some foo-foo model that wouldn't sell well for them or would only fit highly customized faucets, but I guess my main thought is when I go to Lowe's, I expect to find this sort of everyday replacement part.
