I've eyed Recreo for a while and stopped in with a friend to visit, and we were so impressed! We got a pumpkin latte and a lavender matcha, the latter of which is on their summer menu. They knocked both out of the park - so flavorful and delicious! We both tend to prefer sweeter drinks, but we had a perfect balance of flavor with our coffee/matcha. My friend also got a mixed berry scone, which was solid as well but he found it to be a little dry. I would definitely look forward to trying a pastry in the future - I was eyeing their cookies, but wasn't feeling it that morning. I am so happy I live so close and will definitely be back! The baristas were all so kind and personable - in addition to making great drinks, they truly connected with each customer and everyone seemed so happy to be there. We sat inside with all the pollen outside, but the outdoor patio nearby was ADORABLE. Makes sense that it was full when we got there!

Drinks that I do enjoy from Coffee Break include: frozen frappes, smoothies, & frozen lemonades though. Normally, I pop in here for their BAGELS! Yes, I said bagels. My favorite is their jalapeño bagel with onion + chive cream cheese. OMG! Parking: Central Ave has a bunch of businesses & there's a good amount of street parking. Especially when advertised as "world's best" of similar flattering words. Recently I was gifted a Grandma's of New England Coffee Cake. It was a thoughtful gift and I managed to overcome my "allergy" mostly because it was well-packaged and actually looked good. My initial reaction to cutting was to note that it was fresh and moist. There seemed to be a well-balanced amount of cinnamon and nuts too. I have to be honest, though, I was not bowled over by the flavor when eating the first slice. It was good but not great. The next day, after the cake was sitting on the counter overnight, unwrapped and enclosed in the box, I had a second piece and it was FANTASTIC. Not sure what made the difference but all of the sudden I understood the "world's best" advertising. I do have two concerns, though, which would not stop me from eating this product but does make me scratch my head. One is that the box had no "use by" or "produced on" date. There were several instructions about how long it could be kept under differing conditions but no date from which to compute "best storage". The other is that there seems to be an awful lot of emulsifiers, etc, with chemical-like names in the ingredients list. I'm sure they contributed to the delightful texture and probably to the product longevity, but for something advertised as having no this, that, or the other thing I really had to wonder. All-in-all, though... a good product from a very intriguing company.
