So I love Dunkin and I don't come very often, but every time I do come they are so understaffed at this location. This morning I just saw receipt after receipt being printed out and there was a good amount of people waiting for their mobile pickup orders. From what I saw there were only 2 workers, I felt so bad for them! Other times I have come and there were more workers I could tell that some weren't pulling their weight. The employees really need better help at this location and a good team lead. Also it is completely silent when you walk in, having some sort of music in the background would not hurt at all. What is Duncan Donuts? Well, its not on every street corner and its not Starbucks. Its also something people are willing to wait in line for. These Donut shops are not on every street corner so this means that they are more special and interesting. You also don't have to use words like 'grande' when ordering - there is no stuffiness or hostility that Starbucks is notorious for recently. Duncan Donuts is a place that does both donuts and coffee really well. Thats good to have - I can't tell you how many small mom and pop shops have good donuts but just drop the ball when it comes to the coffee. I'm a jelly donut fan and I've tried a bunch of the ones from here. They are good - more substantial than from Krispy Creme and they offer some more unusual varieties. My favorite donut though, to date, is at Whole Foods in Fremont. A jelly vegan that must be special ordered from a nearby bakery as I've never seen it at any other Whole Foods location. Great service but the food is so so. I ordered an iced coffee with cream and sugar and it took them 3 tries to finally get it right. I was assuming they'd get annoyed the final time I had them correct my drink but they weren't bothered. They even bumped my cup size up for messing my drink up, score! This is the same group of franchisees who own the Half Moon Bay and South San Francisco locations with approval to open 26 more locations. Today at their grand opening, I had a chance to speak with one of the owners and got a good understanding of their brewing process which helped me understand why this is. As I stated earlier, this is a great location central to Fremont. However it does not have a drive thru and the parking here is a little selective because of neighboring businesses that compete for parking in this strip mall setting. Looking at the menu that is already on display, the coffee is the standard that we have come to love and expect. Dunkin' Donuts is located between L&L Hawaiian BBQ and Chick-fil-A in Fremont. Back in the mid/late '80s, there were Dunkin' Donuts in the Bay Area. By the early '90s, they all disappeared save for one in San Jose, and that finally went away in the late '90s. DDs have slowly started to pop up in the Bay Area (Walnut Creek, Half Moon Bay, South San Francisco). Today was the grand opening of their Fremont location. I didn't get there until noon, but there was still a relatively long line. The wait was approximately a half hour. The staff were friendly and helpful as I got to the counter to order a dozen Donuts and an Iced Coffee. I picked my dozen, and my drink was ready right after. The Donuts were yummy as was the Coffee. Completely understaffed, especially in the morning. For example, they have two staff in the morning, one working the register and the other prepping food. Between mobile orders, kiosk orders and register orders they are completely overwhelmed. Add in the indecisive customer who is stumped over which donut to get and it becomes a real painfully process. Having heard tales of Dunkin' , even seeing commercials on tv multiple times as a kid, really made me wonder what was the hype surrounding it, and if it was really as good as advertised? This morning was the day I tried my FIRST donut from here- I was filled with excitement and curiosity as my boyfriend and I pulled up through the parking lot. Reading multiple recommendations, seeing photos, and just preparing myself before ordering, we finally entered Dunkin' Donuts. Being a Fremont native, my boyfriend has never given Dunkin' donuts a try so it was a first try for us both. My first impression was how 'McDonalds' the dining hall looked. The menu is electronic (similar to McDonald's) and the seating was too much like it- it felt almost like the McDonald's of donuts! When it came time to order, we had a bit of a hard time seeing the available donuts behind our server, but it is purely on the fact the font is much smaller than it should be, and how you can't see the donuts up close. Compared to traditional bakeries, the donut case is completely visible and 'closed' to prevent too much air touching it- however, the exact opposite was here at Dunkin'. The donuts are stacked in trays and continuously touch air which, could make them get harder, or more stale, which crossed my mind immediately. With all of the 'unique' choices, my boyfriend settled for a chocolate, and I settled for a spring fling sprinkled donut. My boyfriend was curious and anticipated a winner from Dunkin' if he tried a few items- so in addition, he ordered a sausage and egg croissant, a vanilla bean coolatta, and hash browns. The hash browns were given to us very burnt, but with a line of 10 people it wasn't likely we'd get up to get them so we tried them anyhow. The coolatta was very icy, and less flavorful, but didn't pair too well with my donut. The winner was the sausage and egg croissant (in my boyfriend's words) but it wasn't something to go out of the way to come back for. I was genuinely surprised at the amount of people coming in and out with boxes of a dozen donuts- had they seen something I was missing? It was confusing, to say the least. Not to mention the prices are a bit higher if you're used to traditional donut shops. All in all, it was an okay experience here at Dunkin' , but I definitely don't foresee a visit in the near future. Today Wed 8/28/24 around 730AM. There was a huge screaming match between one female employee with customers. It is the worst customer service I have ever seen. The young lady was left in the store by herself to wait on customers. She decided to take everyone's order first in the store before working on anyone's order. Which means the 1st person order that was taken they have to stand there and wait forever for their coffee and food which is unacceptable. It should be first come first serve if you are the only person in the store. So of course customers are going to get upset. Once the screaming back and forth gets started then a young gentleman comes inside the store to assist after the incident has happen. When customers asked who is the Supervisor of this store they both refused to give that information out. Also, when customer asked for their names they refused to say. More training is needed in Customer Service at this store. As much money as I spend in this store a conversation is needed with me and a Supervisor at that store. Also, a customers started to leave without there order. So that means the store is losing money. read more
