Doughnut in La Plata is at the top of that list. The service is always wonderful, and the staff is friendly and welcoming every single time I visit. But let's talk about the real star: the malasadas. These fluffy, flavorful treats blow traditional doughnuts out of the water. I highly recommend the ube malasada it's my personal favorite, and I keep going back for it. It's so good that when I host brunches or have guests visiting, I make a point to pick up malasadas from here. They're always a hit. ALWAYS. If you're anywhere near La Plata, this is a must-visit spot for incredible malasadas, great coffee, and genuinely kind service. It never disappoints.

I prefer more cake based as opposed to filling style. The exception would be jelly filled but these cream filled ones just don't do it for me Overall I like the unique flavors that they have but it's not something that I see myself going out of my way to try again. I prefer donut connection.

Stopped in this lovely little bakery to pick up a couple of items instead. I got a PB&J donut and a Boston Cream. Met the owner, Mark, and he and I had a chance to talk for a bit. Nice guy. Lovely donut shop. We talked about wiggly cakes and scones...and Crumbl. They have a few more donuts I plan to try - including strawberry with coconut next time. The donuts are larger than the grocery store variety. They sell other breakfast delights plus coffee too, and have been there for a while. Terrific member of the merchant community. The service was friendly and the ambiance is warm. They are in a strip mall that's essentially empty but for them. Parking on-site and abundant.

The counter and eating area was clean and cute. There are areas to seat, including tables and bar style tables at the windows. There is also an area with alcohol and sodas for sale. Today was a warm day and they had all the doors propped open to create a breeze. I could imagine enjoying a morning or afternoon working in there or visiting with friends. I look forward to returning and trying their baked goods (cookies, cakes and muffins).
