In fact, it tasted slightly like it was refrozen. The line was long and there didn't seem to be a sense of urgency to quickly process through the orders. I've been needing to review Bruster's as it has seemed to be the "hot spot" for warmer weather in the Waldorf area. The lines are usually nonstop, and as I write this fully satiated after demolishing my small sugar cone, the line that was non-existent is slowly forming. Word of advice, this is a place to come after Sunday service but come at JUST the right time and you could beat the crowd (1PM-1:45PM). On to the service, the young lady that assisted me was friendly and helpful. I asked her what her favorite flavor was, and as fate would have it, cookie dough was it. SOLD! I slid a $2 tip into the tip jar (hopefully it persuades more customers to tip cash as well), and waited about 3-4 minutes for our ice cream. I opted for a small sugar cone (2 scoops) with a scoop of cookie dough and southern banana pudding. Lately I've been on a BP flavor kick and this one was really good. The ice cream itself was rich and creamy. It wasn't overly sweet and I LOVED that the ice cream was La led to the tip of my cone. It's the small things! My husband enjoyed a 3 scoop regular cup with double Oreo + cookie dough. Went here because the ice cream is typically good. 14 people waiting to order, 6 people waiting to get their orders, and at one point, just one person was taking/making orders. Eventually a second person showed up to help. Watched a third person through the window in back on her phone, and I'm guessing, cleaning for close in 30 minutes... instead of helping out front. The ice cream here is amazing, in spite of the long lines. However, the manager seems to make up their own rules. They inconsistently give those who have the app coupons with every purchase (though today I didn't get one after my $30 purchase). The coupon literally says "One coupon per item". However, I was told that the manager told him to only accept one per order. What was written on the coupon did not matter. The manager is not likely the franchise owner and even if he were, should be following the rules, not making up their own. I will continue to patronize this business but will hold up the lines even more while I make individual purchases in order to use the coupons they gave me, since they want to play games. read more

However, after actually having had their ice cream, I feel somewhat let down, *sad face*, but hear me out! I arrived about 830pm on a very WINDY and COLD Saturday night and was the 3rd person in line where I stood freezing. Words of advice incase anyone else gets a mean sweet tooth like me in the middle of winter and decides to come out: Bundle up! The establishment is on the corner of this strip mall and has like an extended over head roof (over where you order) that extends to the street, so the wind was whipping extra hard and made it feel that much colder while standing in line, so bundle up! Anyways, I let the young man know that I definitely wanted chocolate chip cookie dough and that I also wanted a waffle cone, but would like it placed upside down in a cup. He then proceeded to let me know that I could just get a waffle bowl. Oh, really you say?!? So that's what I got! I think my total was like $5 and some change for I believe a regular waffle bowl (which he told me is 3 scoops of ice cream!). Oh, and while ordering up at the window, the SWEET aroma of baked waffle cones is the only thing you'll smell --- MMMMMMM *Homer Simpson voice* Finally, I get home and dig in my ice cream and..... its just ok. Like literally, just ok. Now, when I started to break pieces off of the waffle bowl and mix it with my ice cream, that's when I started doing my happy dance and I heard fireworks. The waffle cone literally made the ice cream 1,000 times better. Needless to say, I ate it all (don't judge!)! Will I be back? Yes, most definitely! The gentleman at the window was SUPPPERRR helpful and their waffle bowl (and I'm sure their waffle cone, too) is just that bomb! I wont get the cookie dough ice cream next time, but I definitely would like to try some of their other flavors. I was excited to try this place because online it shows a lot of dairy free ice cream flavors that aren't just fruit and my toddler is allergic to dairy so I don't eat it either. It showed chocolate chip and some other chocolatey ones but also says to check with each location. First they have all the lights off inside, like it's pitch black. The open signs are on and it says they're open online so we waited for a few minutes. Finally someone opened the window to help us. I asked what dairy free flavors they have and he said none. Ok... so my husband ordered his. I noticed a bunch of ice/sorbet flavors which almost never have dairy. So I said "wait even the ices have milk?" He said they all have some milk but the blue pop doesn't. So I ordered that for my toddler. While waiting i noticed the menu says that all ices and sorbets do not contain milk. So he either lied or didn't know and guessed which is lazy and unfair to us. Now there's a possibility the chocolate flavors were dairy free but because he didn't bother to go check we couldn't have it. It sucks having this allergy cause all I ever want is some non fruity ice cream and it's so hard to find it without cows milk. When we were eating our ice cream we watched several other confused customers wait several minutes before being helped. We were there to reassure them that it was open, they just keep the lights off. Ahhh this is my first time at a Bruster's ice cream shop and my experience was great so I have to let all my fellow yelpers! Prices are very reasonable for the amount of ice cream you get? Hell yes. I ordered for a small German chocolate cake on a waffle cone. I asked the girl how big small is and she said 2 scoops and told myself ok that's enough for me. Also you can sample the flavors of you are overwhelmed by the deliciousness of their titles! My small ice cream was literally for 2 people. It was huge!!! And it came inside of these plastic things that prevent the melted ice cream from making your hands all sticky and gross and I was honestly amazed by that thing lol. Also, you can ask for spoons! It's a great way to share your ice cream and I recommend sharing a small ice cream and ask for a small cup because there's so much in it! They have other things like milkshakes, waffle bowls and all that sweet and glorious things. I'm going back to try more of their stuff. We stopped by here because it's a staple in Waldorf. The ice cream is freshly made and they have various flavors you can't find anywhere else. I visited with my mom and nephew. My mom got cherry, I got chocolate and my nephew got cookie dough. We all just loved our ice cream. There was ample seating for us to enjoy it outside and enjoy the weather. Most of the table also have umbrellas which is nice to keep the sun from beaming onto you. The only negative was they was only one gentleman working. Best ice cream ever. I visit quite frequently - I've gone on busy evenings and quiet afternoons and I've had exception service by the employees. I have also gone on a day where there was a mishap with the freezer which contained my favorite ice cream and the employees did a great job with handling my temporary disappointment (my meltdown lasted a half second :)) as well as offer a flavor that wasn't even on my radar which I now love. POINT is, I have never had an issue with service at Brusters. I appreciate that the owner employs what looks like local teens. I don't have a teen but they seems to be a great bunch. I also had the pleasure to chat with the owner on a slow day - very nice individual. He warned me (and my waistline) about eating so much butter brickle hahahahaha! Sometimes the line is confusing to visitors... Sometimes the customers will see an employee at one of the windows on the ends and will form a line behind patrons that are waiting for their order, then get frustrated with the employee. Its really good ice cream but sooooo unnecessary. Most of the time, they're just kids working, exercise a little patience and understanding. We were all teens before. GOLDEN RULE - if you ever visit a place and see a line, it must be good stuff. Its worth the visit. As mentioned in another review, Bruster's prices are very reasonable for the amount of ice cream you get. I've always had fresh ice cream. Use to be my go to icecream shop, I just love the birthday cake icecream - however LAST YEAR - I ordered to sundaes to go - banana split & strawberry short ( they have my LAST receipt in their app) I ordered birthday cake icecream in one and butter pecan in the other, got home VANILLA icecream in both. I called and requested a note to account to have a replacement at my next trip, told only if I bought the wrong order back now.
