Glad I stopped by this spot. The amount of food we got was massive, for just $14 we got 8 pieces of BBQ chicken, a big tray of rice, fries and veggies that can feed 6 people. The food was fresh and seasoned perfectly. The beef empanadas was delicious, cooked Dominican style in my opinion. And the flan was rich and fresh as well. Great food but their take out order is really disorganized and customer service is horrible. Every time I pick up take out ( at least 20 times already) I have to wait up to 20 minutes because they don't prepare the order so you can pick up and go. The restaurant just waits for you to show up and then prepares the order. I doubt the restaurant really understands the meaning of pre-order. In addition, don't dare to complain because they will just say "we are busy" and the lady even snapped at me and told me "well you will just have to wait longer". I like Portuguese food and this place was good if you have a craving for garlic shrimp or some BBQ or feel like a good take out meal. The portion size is large! I got a half order of Brazilian steak, I got three pieces of steak, I estimate about 12 oz total, plenty of fries and plenty of rice. All for $9. I also ordered an appetizer of the garlic shrimp. I had enough food for myself for 3 or 4 meals. I would imagine the full order feeds at least 4 people. The place is tiny and probably does mostly take out, but I liked the food quite a bit, the steak was not overcooked and the order was cooked to order, so it was nice and fresh. My husband and our friends all decided to pick up some food at this place during our Independence Day celebration. We had smelled the food while walking by a couple of times and thought we would give it a try. Big mistake! We had the combination of beef and pork ribs as well as the grilled chicken. The beef ribs were like eating jerky. I think we may have been served reheated leftovers from the day before. The pork ribs were a little more tender, but still tough to chew and not very tasty. The chicken was tender and juicy but it was so salty, it was almost inedible. The rice was really good and a couple of our friends said the fries were okay, but they still didn't eat many of them. The Brazilian BBQ dishes are good but the empanadas are AMAZING! They are large with a great crispy shell and the fillings are delicious and juicy; specifically the chicken, beef, and pork empanadas. The big platters are good, you get a lot of food for not a lot of money, $16 for a skirt steak platter for at least 2 people with sides. But the service is bad, the setup of the restaurant is confusing and the servers aren't really servers. Our order was taken, we never got any drinks that we ordered and had to get water bottles out of the fridge in the back dining room. I think it's a place for locals and that's the reason for the confusion for other diners. I live one town over and I was one of their first customers when they first opened. Back then, the size of the steaks were larger, which I still believe to this day was only to draw in a customer base. Once they established that, the portions of meat dropped down in a hurry! Garlic Chicken - Pounded way too thin making it very easy to overcook, which they have done each and every time I order it. I also think there is more garlic on the chicken then there is chicken! It is a rubbery hot mess! Oh, and they use jarred garlic, not fresh! How difficult is it to chop fresh garlic for Christ sake?!?!?! Steak Dishes - Underwhelming blandness and they do not even ask how you want it cooked. It all comes out well done unless, of course, you are standing right there to tell them to stop cooking it. If they are concerned about the customer getting sick from undercooked meat, just put at the bottom of the menu that they warn against rare meats and that covers them on a legal basis. All they need to do is ask how I want my steak cooked is all! Potatoes (Fries) and Rice - A French Fry is supposed to be crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Theirs are not even close to being crisp and they put the meat on top of them making them even more mushy. The rice is practically flavorless and dry. This may be why they put the meat on top or it may need a glass of water with each spoonful. Maduros - Maybe there are people who just do not know the difference between a Platanos and a Maduros, but I am not one of them. A Maduros is called a "Sweet Plantain" and it is soft, and a Platano is a bland plantain that is hard and often is served with or people use salt on. I do not like Platanos and never have. So when I order Maduros, I expect to get Maduros and not a Platanos that are quartered and deep fried. If fact, because this is not the first time they have done this, I saved it and am bringing it back today for a refund of the money they charged me for it. Bottom line? Last night was their last chance. I will not be coming back. I gave them too many chances to improve but they keep getting worse! read more

The quality of the food is excellent, the pricing is incredible given the size of the portions. The service is great, and there is a real family atmosphere. The 4 star rating is merely nitpicking because the combos are carbs overload with rice and French fries. This place is VERY good food. We go once a week, every Friday night. We usually do take out, but occasionally we go on Sundays and on those days we eat there. Food is seriously great, atmosphere is how I would say a pizza place is; more casual in the front of the restaurant and a little more formal in the back of the restaurant, yet still casual. Prices are exceptional for the quality and quantity of food you are going to eat. For 2 people to eat there it's like $20.00 and you will be FULL and maybe even some leftovers.
