Our Go-To Spot for BBQ - Nothing Compares!…read more We've been loyal customers of BBQ 28 since the day they opened, and after trying many other BBQ spots, nothing else even comes close. The food is consistently delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The establishment is split into two sections. On the right side is the takeout area, where you can see the staff preparing everything right in front of you - from the perfectly chickens, steaks, ribs, to the freshly made rice. Their shrimp in garlic sauce is amazing as well as their salads, the dressing is the best, it should be bottled and sold. It's an experience just watching them cook! The food is always hot and ready, and the staff are incredibly friendly and efficient. We usually call ahead to place our order, and it's typically ready in about 20-30 minutes. On the left side is the sit-down restaurant, which has a warm, welcoming vibe. If you just can't wait to get home to enjoy your meal, you can always head next door and dine in comfortably. Whether you're grabbing takeout or sitting down for a meal, BBQ 28 never disappoints. Highly recommend - the food is always steaming hot, and the service is top-notch!

I've also had the pork belly, ribs, and tri tip which are also good, but the brisket is the best - hands down! The pork belly and ribs are delicious and smoky. The tri tip is super flavorful, but half of my tri tip pieces were hard to chew and the other pieces were super tender so I'd say it's the luck of the draw depending on which cut of it you get. I also love their mac + cheese and beans + brisket as sides. Since Big Pink's is a food truck, there's limited seating (only 1 picnic table) but we live so close by that we've just taken it to go and eaten it at home! The employees are super nice. After you order, they let you sit in the car to wait and bring it right to you :) This is definitely a new go-to spot for my husband and me!!

I had the loco moco, this was good. Could use more flavor but not bad and the portion was huge and the eggs were perfect. BF said it was interesting but I loved it since I grew up eating spam in the Philippines. Lol. Place is casual, you place your order on the tablet, pricing is reasonable. The menu had mostly Hawaiian options to choose from. The pricing was very reasonable as well. I had the customizable poke bowl ($15.95). There was a number of different options to choose from with different proteins, toppings, sauces, etc. I had a base of brown rice with avocado, cucumber, sweet corn, edamame, mango, ahi tuna, spicy mayo, ginger, wasabi, jalapeno, green onion, and cilantro. This was nicely done. Everything appeared fresh and it was a good size portion. I would have just liked to seen a little more ahi tuna present, but besides that, very pleasant and filling. I also had the spam musubi ($2.95) and a side of macaroni salad ($3.95). The musubi was okay. It was a little dry. There needed to be more sauce present. The macaroni salad was a heaping portion, and it was tasty. There looked like a lot of mayonnaise present, but it was not too overpowerful as some type of sugar seemed to be incorporated to balance it out. Regardless of what it was, the salad was flavorful. Will I go back? I would.

I did get there at 4:30 and they close at 6 so I'll take that into account. The guy working the front desk was so patient and accommodating considering he was the only one working in a busy place with the phone ringing non stop. He deserves a raise/bonus for sure I ordered a catfish dinner and oxtail but they were out of oxtail. I got fried honey bbq salmon instead. Catfish and collard greens was yummy, mac n cheese was so cheesy you really didn't get too much noodle. It was pretty overwhelming so I couldn't eat it. The 2 orders of wings I got were plain and spicy. They were pre cooked frozen wings so I wasn't too keen on them considering this is a soul food restaurant. Hopefully they can do better next time. I wouldn't be opposed to trying it.

We stopped in as a party of 2 on a Wednesday evening and there were only 2 other tables when we arrived, but nearly every table was full by the time we left. They also offer outdoor seating as well. Our server let us know that everything except the ketchup and mayo is made in house, which is great. A small basket of chips and salsa were dropped off quickly, but we had to ask for water more than once before it was dropped to the table. The salsa was quite good and we would have got some more chips, but a refill is $4 and the portion size didn't feel worth it to us. We decided on the avocado tacos since sadly they were out of the coconut shrimp tacos we originally wanted. We had a pulled pork sandwich and salmon entree for our mains, which we both liked. I had Mac and cheese on the side, which wasn't something I would order again, but the fries were good. There are 4 different house sauces to try and I found the Honey Chipotle to be my favorite. Overall, this is a nice local joint that we would consider coming back to try some more dishes if we are in the area.

Loco Moco (Island Grill) - The grilled beef patty was terrible and dry even with the sauce it still did not help. Pork Katsu & Kalbi Short Ribs with Curry Sauce (Island Combo) - Short Ribs were overdone and tasted burnt. Like, not a BBQ tastes like a burnt taste. Pork Katsu was overcooked and dry. When you bite it, it is ready hard, like biting a rock. Plus, that Pork Katsu wasn't even a Pork Katsu. It's like a really thin slice of pork dipped in panko batter. It doesn't even match with the picture. (Japanese restaurants make better Pork Katsu). The curry sauce was at a different level. You can see the sauce sink to the bottom and water floating to the top. I think it was like a water down sauce that they tried to make it last without throwing it away.
