Great post-beach stop! I worked up an appetite after going to the beach and saw Dune Dogz on my bike ride in, knowing I'd wanna stop there on my way home. I got the Chicago Dog, lemonade, and split a side of fries with my boyfriend's sister. She got Candy Play Doh ice cream. Our meals hit the spot! It was a great price and we were both happy. There were lots of options for food and sweets. They had hot dogs, wraps, sandwiches, and even Italian Beef. For dessert, they had ice cream, flurries, shaved ice, and sundaes. You really couldn't go wrong with what you picked. Our service was quick. Dune Dogz is a cute, roadside restaurant with lots of outdoor seating options. I hope to come back one day! read more

Fine if you're headed to or from the beach and need some calories. But if you're expecting anything like Pronto Pups in Grand Haven, you'll be disappointed. The dune dog is a basic corn dog. You can't get more beach classic than Dune Dogz. It's basically a beach episode on the Disney channel waiting to happen. My chicago dog was peak cuisine. Spicy peppers were succulent and spicy, hot dog could be survived raw to the King of England and he wouldn't complain, relish was so unnaturally green it couldn't help but be out of this world tasty, IT'S A GOOD HOT DOG PEOPLE. Service was kind and thorough. Parking is mid for a popular joint like this, but I don't really care I added this detail for anyone with unrealistic expectations of an ice cream/hot dog joint by the beach during the summer. read more

This is a decent little place to grab some quick food. We climbed Mt. Pisgah and wanted a little snack to hold us over for the ride home. We chose cheese fries and ice cream. I love Dune Dogz! This was the perfect pit stop after a hot day at the beach. Of course, they specialize in hot dogs, but they have other classic treats, slushies, ice cream..etc. I tried their coney dog. It was small but really good and packed with toppings! I ordered a small fry, and it was huge! Very good though. There's plenty of seating and parking around the shack, and they even have dog bowls laid out with water. Plenty of clean and well-maintained picnic tables. Very friendly staff. The location could not be better; it's within walking distance of the beach at Holland State Park. SUMMARY: This place is very expensive, and the food very mediocre. Not coming back, not recommending it to anyone unless they're desperate for beach food, have a bunch of money to spend, and aren't looking for something "good". The corndog was fine. Nothing special. Super expensive though for a single corn dog. The chili cheese fries were...fine? Paying 2 bucks to upgrade normal fries to chili cheese fries, and then getting a little bit of cheese and what seems to be the worst canned chili they could find -- so bad that even a school cafeteria would refuse to serve it -- leaves a bad taste in your mouth. No pun intended. The fries, even coated with cheese and chili, were bland. They're better with just ketchup. In the end, it turned out the amount of cheese and chili was actually sufficient for all the fries. But the price bump still isn't justified. I'd avoid this place. However willing you are to have mediocre food, the prices are just absurd. You'd be better off spending a bit more and going to an actual restaurant. Even the wait times here are bad! We just ordered a couple of items, but it took them 10 or 15 minutes to get the food done! For TWO ITEMS -- chili cheese fries ("large" order?) and a corn dog, it cost 14.83. Ridiculous. This place definitely looks like a staple to the Holland beach state park area. Located across the general store, this is a great place to come for a bite to eat or a sweet treat. No fancy frills or thrills, but just a great place to come to. Parking is located behind the building. The menu is posted outside and they have multiple options to choose from in terms of hot dogs. I opted for a Chicago dog and a dairy free pineapple dole whip. Both were ready within 10min. First bite, sheer perfection and all the flavors of a Chicago dog, sport peppers and all. The dole whip was a first time for me. I can honestly say it was satisfying and refreshing to the palate. Overall, this place is great and I'm glad I finally checked them out on an impromptu trip to Holland! read more

Rode my bike down to the beach and decided to stop at Dune Dogz. I ordered a dune dog and a soda. It took 25 minutes to have my buzzer ring for my order. During the 25 minutes I was able to enjoy an older lady yelling at some of the younger workers as they were ripping open plastic bags of frozen products. Once the dog arrived on the tray, it looked pretty pathetic and tasted just as bad as it looked. Could have probably bought 6 frozen corn dogs from the grocery store for the price of this sad looking dog. $8.43 for the dune dog and a medium sprite. The place was busy with people waiting and waiting. Maybe they were there for the comedy of errors going on between the employees because it certainly couldn't be the food. read more

Very expensive for what you're getting. I totally understand running a business and price margins but I just feel for a specialty hot dog I have so many options that if you're going to charge me twice as another place it's got to be worth it. I just don't feel that Dune Dogs has a distinguishing quality or feature to justify the price you're paying. I like that they have a parking lot but it is a bit inconvienetly placed. Not counting that against them though. This place is no good for a meal, you'll pay way too much for average snack food. Other than that, the place is quite nice. Like the beach theme being so close to the State Park. I can't say I won't be back, but I'm not going out of my way to make sure I get their hot dogs. read more

Food was just what you think when you stop here. The dog choices are very good. Everything is alacarte and not bad. However when you are ordering and they offer you sauces for dipping and then when you go to pick up your food they then tell you their out of it. Food is bad. We got a hotdog which was okay. And we also got mozzarella sticks which were very expensive (only for 5 sticks for $8) and all of the sticks were just hollowed out with no cheese inside. I also wanted water but they made me pay for the water and it was a tiny cup. Expensive. I also got a strawberry smoothie but it tasted like one of those yogurt danimal drinks and it was bad. Went touring afterward and more than one hour later we discovered hubby left (or lost) his wallet. Backtracking we inquired and amazingly it was there. With all its contents. Amazing. We are from LA. While driving around Holland State Park we saw this along the road and decided to stop by and give it a try. When walking up to the building it looks fairly new, or at least very, very well taken care of. There are picnic tables as well as benches all around so you can sit down, relax, and enjoy your cold treat. We waited at the window for a few minutes for the employee to return to the window to take our order. I went with the Hawaiian Flurry. It sounded tasty with coconut, strawberries, and bananas. When she yelled out that my order was ready I was beyond excited as having ice cream so close to the water's edge was something I really wanted to do. First, I don't know what she put on top of my ice cream, but it tasted funny. I didn't care for it at all. The disappointment didn't stop there. I really found no coconut or strawberries mixed into my flurry. Just vanilla soft serve and bananas. Don't get me wrong, just those two things alone would have made me happy, but that weird whatever it was on top just kinda ruined it for me. I also found a bucket on the corner of the counter that read "sorry if your table isn't clean. This is for your use if you need it (soap & water)". Umm...shouldn't you staff enough people to keep up with keeping your tabletops clean? I think so. I went here with some of my friends and family and was highly disappointed. I attempted to order a pretzel which was advertised as available on their menu and then was told it was not available. The hotdogs are tasteless and the fries are over salted. The cheese sauce is flavorless and they burnt the bosco sticks. When using the bathroom we overheard them talking about the customers behind their backs and how they served food knowing it was over cooked. We ordered nachos with no chili specifically and the instructions were not followed. We stopped for lunch here while exploring the area. I ordered a corn dog, an order of fries, and a bottle of water. My husband ordered corn on the cob and a hot dog. My corn dog was so good expect a lot of the batter closest to the inside was uncooked. I commented on it to my husband who suggested that I take it back to them, but I really didn't want to make a big deal out of it and draw things out. Enough of it was cooked so that I was able to eat around the uncooked areas. The cooked parts were really good! Fries were good, nothing special. My husband was happy with his food. Again, nothing special with his food. This place is cute. The employees were all nice. The girl who took our order assured us that our Pomeranian was welcome on the patio, and another employee took time out of cleaning to suggest locations around town for us to check out. After eating we tried to leave our car in their parking lot to run across the street to the general store for me to use their restroom but the owner stopped us and informed us that parking was strictly for customers. He ended up letting us park along the side street in front of his car when we explained that we were just wanting to run across the street for a minute and were not headed to the beach. That was really nice of him, but we totally got stared down by a resident across the street who watched us park and walk away, lol. I'm sure they have to be incredibly diligent though, otherwise people would be parking there all the time, and who knows how long they'd be gone.
