Pricing is a bit steep for the kind of food it is. Personally, I enjoy the Chicago dog without fries on it, and it would probably reduce the price. I didn't like how soggy the fries got after being on the dog, esp for such a small place, I imagine people are more than likely taking their food home to eat. It's worth a try for sure because there's nothing like it nearby but I probably won't be a regular here. read more

My family and friends have been going to this little gyro place since I was just a kid. My dad wound always get us the Chicago dogs/fries and couple big gyro plates plates for the family to split. Going back and forth from Chicago and eating plenty of Greek food I can say hands down these are the best gyros I've ever had. The Terrines are authentic and perfectly seasoned every single time. One of the few places to have a lamb gyro that does taste like it's been heavily cut with beef (which is fine) but I need to taste that lamb! The fries are are unique in that they are rustic and soggy like fare fries, when I say soggy I don't meat heavy in grease but they are in the lump side. That being said they are still perfectly cooked. Those Chicago dogs are amazing with the steamed bun and always come with a big handful of fries smashed into the side before they are wrapped. The ladies who work there are always very friendly also. When I go back to holland and visit family and friends they always know we are stopping there for a quick meal. read more

All the taste with none of the overhead! Drive-thru is open during the pandemic, or you can call ahead and order. Kozak's is easy to love, and it's the perfect break if you're "burgered out". I usually get the gyros--tender and mouthwateringly seasoned lamb, fresh veggies, and Greek sauce wrapped in slightly sweet Greek gyros bread. Add a side of their totally addictive skinny fries and you've got a meal. Just polished off both today and I'm full. Seating during ordinary times is limited, so it's just as well that you're carrying out right now. But it's a fantastic spot for a quick bite on the run. Been eating at Mr. Kozak's since 1998 in Grand Haven, and this one is just as good if not better. I don't know why people say the fries are soggy and the people are rude to customers, I have never experienced that here from any of the workers/owners. The Gyros are pretty big, in my opinion, and I believe the price is just right for what they offer (another confusion I read in reviews and don't understand). I cannot speak about what it looks like inside, I always order via the drive through. The Gyros are top notch and I am never treated rudely. Tried Mr. Kozaks looking for Middle Eastern food in Holland. We are new transplants from Northwest Ohio, where there are plenty of Lebanese/Middle Eastern restaurants, operated by folks from the area. We bought the gyro platter, consisting of thinly sliced gyro meat, limp fries and a nondescript salad. Not nearly resembling the very good gyros and fries and Greek salad we are accustomed to. Perhaps other menu items fare better, but it's unlikely we will return. Also, the building itself is a wreck and would benefit from a wholesale remodel. read more

Great to go for chicken gyro and the FRIES are great. Greasy and hot. Sometimes just drive thru for a large fry when I'm having one of those days. The inside is small with very limited seating. A good option for take away at lunch time when you need something quick. The only issue is I know they run short at times on wait staff and have sometimes gone there to find them closed. It's not too out of my way so the only frustration is I have to find an alternative when what I really want is a chicken gyro and fries. read more

I will say Mr. Kozak's is a little rough around the edges. But, it's still good! I got chilli cheese fries and a gyro. I wanted baklava but they were out. :/ The chilli cheese fries were okay, pretty standard. I didn't like the taste of the chilli but with a quick stop type place like this I didn't expect too much more than I got. What makes this place a 4 for me is what I came for: Gyro's! I got one and my roommate got one as well. My roommate absolutely loved it and I though it was good, just not amazing. Mr. Kozaks will do, but there is a place in Grand Rapids that I like much better. The customer service is a little... meh. But, again just don't come with too high of expectations. read more

Was recommended by some locals. After checking Yelp I decided to give it a go. I drove through downtown trying to find this place should have taken I-31 or Hoover Avenue from 16th Street to 18th street. As others said this place only has about 8 bar stools. I was able to get one. The gyro was very good. Mine had plenty of tomatoes and sauce but no lettuce. It also had a lot of meat. The shell was on the smaller side but I was full after eating. The french fries were pathetic - skinny little things and very few. With an XL drink it came to $8.43. Very reasonable. Drink refills are 50 cents for XL and 25 cents for smaller cups. That's annoying. Should give at least 1 refill. They were fairly busy. Not the friendliest bunch of workers (as others said) but not rude either. They also have a drive thru. As others mentioned they also serve hotdogs and hamburgers but I can't comment since I didn't have them. I would give the place 3.5 stars but since I can't it's more of a 3 then a 4 star. read more

Came here for the first time recently and I'm so happy I did! Places like this are always unexpectedly amazing! Small little shack, cheap food, you wouldn't usually expect amazing quality, but you definitely get it here! Their employees are friendly, and efficient at their jobs! We got our food (two gyro specials) super fast. Best. Gyros. Ever. The bread tasted fresh, was nice and soft but had a good little crisp to it. Tzatziki sauce was on point. And the meat portion was huge. The only thing I would ask for would maybe be a little extra tomato next time cause the meat definitely dominates. And their fries thooo! I was too full half way through this meal but continued to eat it because flavors. I walked out of there basically in a lamb coma and I loved it. I used to go there twice a month or so. A short time ago my daughter, a new driver driving a large pick up for the first time, had an issue getting close to the speaker. One of the female employees began chastising her over the speaker as the employee couldn't hear her well. After placing our order my daughter had to readjust as she was driving to get the window. McDonalds' fries are far better than the soggy greasy cold fries that accompanied a lackluster mess of a gyro, and the bag was basically thrown at me through the window and slammed shut (I had to wait a few minutes and eventually open the window to request ketchup). Stopped in for lunch. Tiny seating area--I counted 8 stools along two counters. We ordered gyros/fries/drink special. A heaping order of gyros with tzatziki sauce, onions and tomatoes. I read about the feta on top, but thought it would have been included when I ordered "everything". It wasn't. The gyros was hot and good, though. A little greasy, but that's to be expected especially when they grill the meat before serving it up. Fries were fresh cut, if a little soggy. Service was slow, though. We must have stood behind the counter for about 5 minutes before anyone behind the counter recognized we were there. Granted, they appeared to be working diligently preparing orders (especially the drive-thru, which seemed to get more prompt service than the walk-up customers) but a simple "Hi folks, be right with you!" would have gone a long way. Really, it seemed as though the ladies behind the counter thought we were invisible. Also, a 50 cent charge for a drink refill is kinda stingy. Went here after quite a few recommendations from friends. We were absolutely pleased! The gyros were very filling, I would have liked a little more sauce and veggies on them but they are not stingy with the meat! I personally love skinny french fries, so I was happy with them; especially french fries doused with cheese sauce! I do think that in 2015 having to pay extra for a drink refill is a bit stingy and the staff are not especially friendly, neither are they unfriendly....they are there, that's about all I can say on that subject. It is best to get your order to go, there are literally 8 bar stools, but that is fine! We have found a new favorite & looking forward to our next visit. I was in the mood for something I hadn't had one in a while, but was surprised that there was a spot like this in little ol' Holland. I think I paid about $6, and there was a lot of meat.
