We had been out and decided to stop by here to give it a try. We got burgers, fries, and onion rings. The cashier was super nice and laid back. When we got the order we were missing onion rings but apparently he forgot to write them down. So we went back to the other window and ordered them. They were okay super fried and stuck together so I wish we didn't buy them. The first batch of fries were hard and cold. When we ordered the onion rings, we added more fries without tasting the others yet. The second batch was a little warmer. The burger was a overpriced burger. It was fine. I wouldn't not return. The obx is filled with such great places and this just isn't one of them. I tried to hope for the best since I did read reviews before hand. They were correct. It is next to a kids playground so I assumed maybe that is how they're open? Families being hungry and this place is next door. My husband enjoyed his burger. It wasn't bad but for over $40 for 2 drinks, 3 burgers, 2 fries, and onion rings.. not worth it at all.

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere . We have been waiting for this place to open. We never catch it when it is open. We came to OBX one week prior to Memorial Day weekend. Tried the double dune burger and hotdog with chili cheese, onion, and slaw. Also had two corndogs. Everything was excellent.

Does not disappoint! This place is all you can expect from a greasy delicious cheesy burger joint! Man these burgers are yummy. It's become our family's official kick off vacation spot every year. Now they could've hit that 4th star if it wasn't for the "new fries". They are a miss for us. More like potato sticks now. You should check them out!

The burger was so delicious. The hotdogs and fries leave a lot to be desired. A fine place to stop for lunch off the beach.

Teenage boys are the servers. Made a real mess of my order. No attention to detail. And. Well. It was just a burger.

We ordered the fried green tomato special of the day, which came with burrata and salad. It was incredible. My partner ordered the catch of the day, which was blackened swordfish with risotto. He loved it! I ordered the mahi mahi BLT. They were extremely generous with their portion size for the fish, bacon, and especially the fries. The ambiance is very nice! Inside had plenty of space for folks to be seated without being crowded, but it was never too loud. They have bar seating, tables, and outdoor dining. The art is locally sourced. I signed up for their waitlist to get a reservation, and it worked! I was able to snag one. Thankfully I did, since they were busy and had a wait for over an hour for walk ins. Highly recommend planning ahead! If you end up waiting, they have several places for you to wait including outside in the shade with some games and seating area.

The parking lot was packed, and we were told the wait would be 30-45 minutes ... but we were seated in less than 10 minutes! The restaurant is beautiful and classy, and the menu had so many things that sounded phenomenal. Prices were a little higher than we wanted to spend that evening, so we opted for sandwiches. A cheeseburger for my husband and a chicken sandwich for me. His came with fries, while I chose the rice and beans. Our food took at least 30 minutes, and we were told the kitchen was having trouble keeping up. The presentation wasn't particularly photo-worthy, but those rice and beans were off the charts! I could eat them every day. They had such a unique flavor. I couldn't quite figure out what was in them, but I suspect there may have been a hint of nutmeg. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive until we were nearly finished. It did take quite a while to get our check and payment processed. I'd definitely return. There were so many appetizers, drinks, and desserts I wanted to try. Next time, I'd be prepared to spend a little more!

They were accommodating for a large party so that was a plus. Ordering took about 30 mins to get out our food, there was a mix up with the ticketing but it was resolved. My order was unimpressive, it was like a small paddy sitting in cheezewhiz, my bun was burnt, and fries were greasy soggy, the other order was the fish, and that was probably the best thing to order, it was crispy and tasteful. the wings were decent, a little light on the sauce but palatable. they only had diet drinks in, and had very few choices. i really felt the price was not justified for the price and service. Our server was polite but slow, and 3 of the other orders were forgotten because the cook thought they were the same... that's what we were told, so it took a while longer for the rest of the order to come out. Most likely won't be coming back.

I woke up...and had a delicious time! The reviews here tell you how great this place is, and well...believe them! I thought for sure it would be over-hyped and not live up to what people write and say, but I will admit to being wrong. First, our server, Krickett, was agreed upon (by my partner and I) to be the best server we have ever had. She was friendly, outgoing, had good recommendations, and an all-around joy. Second, the food! Wow! My partner had a salad...simple enough, right? But no, she was amazed by it. And she is a vegetarian, so she has had a lot of salads over the years. This one blew her away. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Was it life-changing? No. But it was way better than what a grilled chicken sandwich normally is. It was tender, juicy, with just the right seasoning. I would be a criminal if I didn't mention the bruschetta...get it with the burrata...it is worth it! The crispy bread with balsamic drizzle is good enough with the diced tomato mix, but the cheese gives it a new level. And, I hope you saved room for dessert, because the key lime pie was a mouth explosion.

I've been here with a party of 12 before, and we definitely waited a while, but I was impressed that they were able to accommodate a group that size. This time, I was with a party of two and we were seated pretty quickly. My one complaint about the wait system is that they announce when your table is ready, but if you're out of earshot, you'll miss it. It would be nice if they used a text, call, or buzzer system so you could walk down to the beach while you wait. Part of the pier seating is covered, but the farther you go out, the more exposed you are. We were seated near the end, so it was hot in the direct sun and very windy. But that comes with the territory, and the views make it worth it. There are also plenty of birds hoping you'll share your fries with them, which is both expected and pretty funny. We each ordered a Pain Killer. It was good at first, but it quickly became watered down, and I didn't think it was worth $10. We also got the nachos, but the price adds up quickly once you start adding toppings. Most of the menu is very à la carte. The prices seem reasonable at first, but sides and toppings can add up fast. The burgers don't come with fries, for example. We both got the West Coast Burger. It was good, but nothing particularly memorable. Service was attentive and generally friendly. Overall, Fish Heads is one of the better dining options in the area. The pier setting and views really make the experience unique. I enjoy coming here and will likely be back.
