This is most likely the Finest Cantonese Dim Sum and Seafood in Sacramento.

It was lunchtime prime time and I was instantly seated and carts came right over to me, which is so amazing. I love that this place still has carts! When the one item I wanted, wasn't on a cart they specially ordered it for me and brought it out pretty quickly. The decor is still bare bones no real ambience whatsoever. But that's OK because they have carts and that makes it all worthwhile. Now for the sad news.... The Dim Sum is just not that good anymore. I always really enjoyed having the black bean spareribs and these ribs and have a couple black beans in them are just devoid a flavor. There's a little bit of jalapeño flavor, but I would never order these again. The pan fried shrimp and chive dumplings were very stale tasting. The inside was perfect consistency and ratios, but the outside noodle was dried and chewy and just not good. I also got the steam steamed then pan fried pork and vegetable buns, which are normally to die for good here, but oh-my, they were just awful it taste like eating cardboard. The inside was OK but outside was so bad and so stale tasting that I just was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Don't think I'll be returning anytime soon, which is really sad.

Even though I no longer live in Sacramento, I still make a point to stop by whenever I'm in town to pick up some of our longtime favorites. My must-haves are the pineapple baos, char siu baos, BBQ pork baos, shu mai, and egg tarts. Everything is consistently good and keeps me coming back after all these years. This is definitely more of a pick-up-and-go spot than somewhere you come to sit and eat. The bakery is clean, and the staff is always friendly, efficient, and keeps things moving. Prices have gotten a little high, but for me, the quality and nostalgia are still worth it. It can get very busy, with the line sometimes stretching outside, and popular items do sell out. I usually try to go earlier in the day or call ahead and place an order for pickup. After all these years, ABC Bakery is still one of my favorite Sacramento stops and a place that holds a lot of great memories for me and my family.

The bean curd rolls were packed with vegetables and meat. We enjoyed the shrimp dishes because the shrimps were very fresh. The salt and pepper tofu was a surprised hit. We just kept on eating it. The fried dishes were our favorites because they were not oily. Chinese broccoli was decent. The foods were good and the restaurant was simply decorated, but it's good for a dim sum place (touch the hearts).

The egg drop soup really hit the spot, and the combination fried rice was fantastic too. The space itself is pretty unassuming, but the food was fresh and delicious, and the ladies working there were incredibly kind and welcoming. They were also very accommodating to my two toddler sons, which we really appreciated. We also had fish maw soup, a clay pot dish with shrimp and vegetables, chicken and rice, bok choy, and several other dishes. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared, and I would happily reorder most of the items we tried. The ambiance was pretty much what you'd expect from a traditional Chinese-American banquet restaurant. But for today, i wanted to try their take-out stir fry dishes. So what did we order. 1) Broccoli chicken in garlic sauce entree. chicken was rough and lacked flavor. It seemed recooked and prepped earlier. Broccoli was fresh and cooked very al dente (i guess it is better cooked less to retain the vitamins and nutrients). the garlic sauce had minimal flavor. i would say it is meh. would i order this dish again....good question. 2) spareribs in black bean sauce over rice. the dish looked very good. Too bad it didn't taste as well as it looked. Let's start with the rice. The rice was cold, grainy, a little hard, and tasted like it was prepared the other day. Blah. The pork also lacked flavor- it had a mealy texture and dry. As if the pork pieces were boiled in hot water first as the initial prep which destroyed the texture hoping the black bean sauce would cover the poorly prepared pork pieces- blah, Yuck, awful. However, the veggies (bell pepper:onions) were tasty and prepared well. The sauce was decent but it did have more of a soy sauce flavor than black bean flavor. Would i order this again- nope. never. walk away. I hope their other pork dishes are not boiled in water first as well. blah. Prices are a bit higher with the new owners. But food cost are higher everywhere.. $15 for the broccoli chicken and $12.75 for the spareribs in black bean sauce. Would i come back for the entrees- nope. but perhaps i will try their dim sum another time.
