We started with the pork soup filled dumplings (XLB) and pan fried pork buns. Both were average. The exterior of the beef roll was a little greasy, but I liked the crispy, flaky pancake. The dry-fried string beans were crunchy. Service was good. The waiter was attentive and polite. The open sign was turned off before it was even 7:30 though. Their hours state they close at 8:00 though. read more

Excellent food we got take out for our mahjong group and we all liked the food very much.

My husband and I love this restaurant. It has the best XLB we have tried, amongst other dumpling places. We ordered XLB, beef noodles soup, and beef pancakes. They're all delicious. The restaurant can be a little cramped. The plaza has the nugget market beside it, so their parking lot is quite busy. read more

This is a small family owned establishment in a strip mall next to Sprouts. They take to go or dine in orders. We decided to eat in and were immediately sat by the owner I think. Inside is decorated nicely, some booths but mostly tables. We ordered the xlb, which were served in a bamboo basket. The soup dumplings were flavorful and had a thin skin. The scallion pie was so flaky! We loved the pie and told the owner that was the best we have had in the Sacramento area. He recommended the beef roll next time if I liked the scallion pie. Lastly we had wontons in chili oil, they were good but needed more spice! He was very proud of the food he said they made all in the kitchen and it showed. Delicious! read more

3.5 stars Came here on sunday for lunch around 12 ish. It was pretty empty only two other parties, but as it got later more people came. Its kinda open seating so the guy jus says to pick any seat. Its only one guy working outside so if it gets busy or he has alot of ppl to take care of it might be a bit slow. So we eventually got the menus and stuff and we ended up ordering the xlb, shanghai fried noodle, and the roujiamo (chinese hamburger). It all came out in like 10 ish minutes so it was pretty quick. The fried noodle had pretty good flavor, but from the photos it didnt have that much meat nor bok choy as i would like lol. The noodles did also have a bite to it so maybe a little under but didnt mind too much. The xlb was pretty good but not the best ive had. The broth couldve had more flavor, and same with the ground pork filling. Also my mom found a bone in one of her xlb she ate. The Roujiamo looked cooler than it tasted. At first glance it looked SUPER oily lol, and like oil was dripping off of the bun kinda. The meat inside couldve use alot more flavor, and the bread wasnt fluffy like bao/mantao normally is, but maybe we expected something different. The service is good tho, the one guy who does everything in front is nice and friendly. Came over to our table multiple times to ask if everything was okay. Not sure how it is when it gets rly busy tho but it was good. Overall place is okay. Nothing hugely impressed or amazed me. Prices arent that expensive but the portions of the bigger dishes could be a bit better. Not the best dumpling place from what we tried but would be willing to try other stuff. read more

Update: We decided to come back because it's so close and it's a nice say out with the pack. Took a little longer this time because they were so busy. Beef noodle soup is excellent with a lot of garlic and green onion, and the ginger vinegar soy sauce is excellent too. Will be back with the dog again. read more

This was our first visit and we will definitely be back. We loved the pork soup dumplings and Taiwanese Pork rice bowl. Made me feel like I was back in Shanghai. Fast service too. No wonder they were named #3 best place to eat Asian food by Food & Wine magazine read more

Came here for the first time because I was craving soup dumplings and wanted to try a new place! When I first walked into the restaurant, it looked modern and clean. We were immediately seated and the staff took our order quickly. They were kind and kept checking up on us if we needed anything. The food was really tasty! My favorite was the pan fried pork dumplings as it was filled with meat and it was juicy with the nice crunch on the bottom. The only thing I wish that could be an improvement would be the chili oil as there was more oil than chili, which doesn't taste spicy. I need the spice! Overall I'd come back again to try more food! read more

Overall great. Service is not bad. Food is tasty but on the smaller serving sizes. The rainbow fried rice was delicious. I'm neutral about this place. My experience wasn't bad but I don't know if I would come back. read more

Popped in for a late Sunday lunch on the way home from the airport. After 8 hours of travel through 3 different airports, this place was EXACTLY what I needed! Like a "welcome home" hug for my belly! We got the Shanghai noodles, wonton in chili oil, pan-fried pork bun, and pork potstickers. Everything was fresh, fast, and ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! The owner was our server, and he was very patient with all our questions. I can't wait to come back again, because there were so many more things I want to try (braised beef noodles, cold noodles, beef rolls). This will be my go-to spot when I'm in the area. read more

This is probably the best little restaurant in the neighborhood with a very nice menu, tasty food and great service usually the one young, man who seems to be always there (maybe the owner?) We live only about 1/2 mile from the shopping center so it could not be more convenient and it is located very close to a Nugget Market, Petco, a very good shipping/mailing store, and Msrshall's. The server is very knowledgeable and does a great job describing and suggesting menu items. We have been here about four or five times and have always found it very satisfying. read more

Fantastic dumplings, especially the shrimp and pork soup inside dumplings. We enjoyed the cucumber salad, gyoza, pan fried pork buns, cheese Rangoon and the off menu lace (?) potstickers -- all delicious. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. So I saw that this place just opened so I went and checked it out. It is small with 9 tables. All Asians inside which is a good sign. Since they are still in soft opening they gave a discount which was nice. It was 12 %. I ordered the pork soup dumplings and the Shanghai fried noodles. He said it would take 20 minutes. I ordered to go since I was by myself. The order was ready earlier so that was nice. The dumplings were really good . I got the gush of the soup after biting into it. Yummy. I didn't burn my tongue since I had to drive home. Still warm enough. The noodles were thick and good as well. Nice to have another place to eat . Will return to eat their other items on their menu read more

Food: *Shanghai fried noodle - subbed in some green beans instead of bok choy and happy they were able to accommodate. Instead of mushrooms as listed on the menu, they use yellow onion, probably because onions are a cheaper ingredient. I see a lot of the photos here this way. Update the menu or put in mushrooms. When they say thick noodles, they are thick noodles. Like the thickness of udon noodles. A bit too heavy for me. I do love the fried sliced garlic chunks they use and not minced garlic. *Dry-fried string beans - again, fried sliced garlic for the win. The dish overall was ok. I've had crunchier fried green beans, but maybe they got soggy because it was a to-go order. Other Chinese restaurants cut open the four corners of the box to vent it and prevent the green beans from getting soggy so fast. I wouldn't order again, way too much oil left in the box. Service: Nice waiter. I asked if they charge a fee for using a credit card (or else I'd pay cash. Some small shops do charge). They don't charge a fee, but he did mention that cash is better. That put me off a little, but I ended up being nice and handed him $30 cash for a $29.25 order. He said thank you, put the cash in the drawer, and closed it. Uh, where's my change? I guess I was the one who got charged a $0.75 fee for asking the question, lol! I didn't bother with it and took my order and left. Might give it another try for the other dishes, but will wait several months after they try smooth out their operations. read more

Dumplings were next level, wow! I will come here every week now. Thank you! Nothing else I can say :)

Dumpling Yo! is still in the stage of soft opening, so the menu does switch around based on ingredient supply if I'm not mistaken. My friends were interested in some dishes pictured on Yelp that they did not have in store or even on the menu, so if that's a dealbreaker for you I would suggest calling their phone number and asking them yourself. I came here with two friends and we were immediately seated, we ordered some cucumber salad, shengjianbao/pan fried pork buns, Shanghai fried noodles, spicy beef noodle soup, and xiaolongbao/soup dumplings. I tried a bit of both the Shanghai fried noodles and spicy beef noodle soup my friends ordered, and they were good! We love udon noodles, and I liked the flavoring and seasonings they used for both. My friend even said she typically does not finish soup broth but she ate everything inside her beef noodle soup. They weren't too spicy and came with a good amount of meat. I ordered the cucumber salad for myself since I was still full from lunch, and it was pretty decent. I'm not a huge fan of cilantro so I wish they mentioned it on the menu!! I also typically use Persian cucumbers for my own cucumber salad at home, so I was surprised when I received my order. However, the vinegar/soy sauce mixture that they used might have also had some rice vinegar in it since it was sweet too! I liked the dish a lot. At the end of our meal, our waiter asked us if there was any way that they could improve and I answered that: 1) the soup dumplings should come with a soup spoon so that they can be eaten properly/without spilling. The top is also a little thick/heavy compared to other more delicate xiaolongbao that I have had in the Bay Area/DTF, but this helps it prevent from breaking/spilling the soup which is great! 2) the pan fried pork bun dough seemed off to me visually, but taste wise it was great. Both my friends are not Chinese so they didn't know what to expect and thought it was fine, but I don't know if it's a matter of not enough time or the quality of the yeast or ratio of ingredients being wrong... maybe I'm just too used to fluffy shengjianbao haha. I wish Dumpling Yo! the best for their grand opening since I'm not a Sac resident. They seem like very genuine people who are trying to put their best foot forward by introducing more authentic Chinese food to the community. read more

After seeing multiple articles saying this is one of yelp's highest rated places in Sacramento, I had to try this place and ordered through DoorDash. We ordered the soup dumplings, the fried bao, the wontons in chili oil, the scallion noodles, and the cucumber salad. And......it was pretty good. The best? Nah, not even close. While serviceable and maybe the best dumplings in the Pocket area, there are so many places in Sacramento that offer a better product. read more

We came as a group of four and each ordered a bowl of noodles: Braised Beef Noodles, Spicy Beef Brisket, Braised Brisket, and Cold Chicken Sesame Noodles. We also got an order of xiao long bao, shrimp sheng jian bao, and a beef roll. First red flag: half local Chinese, half Westerners inside -- the ultimate "fusion warning" Let's start with the good: The xiao long bao was absolutely amazing. Juicy, flavorful, and perfect with vinegar. Just skip the shrimp version -- not worth it. Portion-wise, all the dishes were very generous with the meat, especially the sheng jian bao. As soon as we walked in, the place gave off strong "college startup" vibes -- and the food confirmed it. The cold sesame noodles (Shanghai-style) were likely pre-made. No shredded chicken, replaced with minced pork, and not great (coming from friends from Jiangxi and Guizhou who know their noodles). Still, somehow better than the three bowls of hot noodles that were literally identical except for different toppings. The beef and brisket noodles were disappointing. While the meat portions were generous, the brisket was tough and hard to chew, the beef way too soft, and everything was drowned in oil and overpowering garlic crisps. The same base soup made the three bowls taste almost identical. Final thoughts: We were blown away by the xiao long bao and honestly wished we could've canceled the rest and just ordered three more baskets of those. Save yourself -- just go for the dumplings read more

Best soup dumplings and especially the Shanghai noodles. Delicious and very reasonable prices.

We love dumplings; we have a go to place for dumplings in So Cal. Saw DY! in yelp's list of top 100 restaurants in the country, so we were hoping this could be our go to in Sacramento. The service here was friendly and quick. The dumplings were average, not close to what we're used to. The noodle soup was average too. I've had better and worst from other places. One big thing I'm not a fan of is the strong disinfectant smell in the place. Clean eatery is great but a strong chemical disinfectant smell, not appetizing. Hopefully the management will switch to other forms of cleaning and/or use the strong stuff after business hours. 3 stars for food but lost one cause of the disinfectant smell. read more

This place was highly recommended in Instagram and true enough it was worth the hype! Came here at 2PM on a Saturday and the place was busy! Stick to the items in the menu with the heart icon! We ordered 4 items, 2 were from the "heart" items and were definitely a stand out! The Fried Noodle was cooked to perfection! This was probably the best version of a chow mein I ever had where the noodle was not overpowered by the vegetables and meat. You will enjoy every bite of that al dente noodle. The beef roll was also a MUST! It was flaky outside and as soon as you bite into the flaky wrap you get the crunch of the cucumbers and the taste of beef with the hoisin sauce. Wow! The other 2 dishes were just ok. The chicken wings were fried well but they could improve on the seasoning. The XLB spicy was just OK too not a stand out. Giving this place a 4.5 :) will definitely drive to this side of Sacramento again! read more

The beef rolls were delicious and my favorite out of the three dishes I ordered! Savory with a nice outer crunch and refreshing with the fresh veggies inside. Pan fried pork bun was perfect. The pork soup filled dumplings was okay but I wouldn't order it again. The resturant has about 8 tables available and they filled quickly. read more

Easily some of the best Shanghai dumplings in all of Sacramento. The pork dumplings are most impressive, thinly wrapped and packed with plenty of flavors and juices. Careful when handling the thinly wrapped and delicate soup-filled baos, or you'll be left disappointed and sneakily reaching for a different one, hoping the people you're with wouldn't notice that you just committed a crime at the dining table. Don't even get me started with the Portuguese egg tarts. Owner is always respectful and welcoming of guests. Ambiance is nothing special. Always clean, relatively plain. Hope they stay in the Greenhaven area long-term as the area needs more places like this. Excellent traditional food without having to drive all the way to Los Angeles to get a quality fix. Alternatively, although not recommended, they are partnered with DoorDash! Soup dumplings are best served fresh and straight out the steamer after all. I proudly recommend this as my top choice for Shanghai dumplings lovers visiting Sacramento from anywhere around the world. It may even give Shanghai vendors a run for their money. read more

I was in the area and walked in here to try the xiao long boa. To my surprise, it's a pretty small restaurant, looks a lot bigger at the exterior. Even though it's small, they can accommodate a party of 8 but I highly recommend to call in advance to make reservations. It's a smaller scale restaurant, so the space is limited. I ordered a little of everything to try with the family, my two little nieces loved the xiao long boa and the pancake. I will definitely come back, the only negative thing I have to say is that the beef stew noodles doesn't have enough broth and there's only one person managing the restaurant, so the service is slower. read more

Walked in for lunch at 11:30am and plenty of tables available. We were served water and tea. We ordered the pork and shrimp soup dumplings - I liked the thin skin but it stuck to the paper and the soup leaked out. Enjoyed the thick noodles - chewy texture and good flavor. Crispy scallion pancakes and beef rolls. The beef rolls are large like a burrito (not small like a spring roll) with cucumbers and hoisin sauce. Was craving dumplings so we stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon. We were seated within 5 minutes. The interior is small, with only a dozen or so tables. Music was playing in the background and the vibe was nice. We ended up ordering the scallion noodles, pork and shrimp soup dumplings, dry fried green beans, and chili oil wontons. If I could recommend something, it'd be the scallion noodles and the green beans - so full of flavor & perfectly cooked. The soup dumplings I could care less for; the skin was a little too thick and I thought the filling tasted okay. The chili oil wontons were mediocre; it was more so just oil than chili oil. The service was great! Our waiter was really nice, which made the experience really enjoyable. I'd definitely come back! read more

Very authentic Shanghai dumpling place. We ordered the pork soupy dumpling, seafood pan fried noodle, pan fried bao, and the beef roll. The soupy dumpling was so good, the wrap is thin and the meat was burst with soup. What surprised us the most was the noodles, it was al dente kind of thick noodle and they're really generous on the seafood. Service was really good, attentive, and friendly. Food came out less than 15 min for the first dish. The place was small that fits about 6-7 tables. Nice simple oriental decoration. read more

After reading so many great reviews we decided to try this place and it did not disappoint! There was one review in particular that stood out which said the the soup dumplings had thin but stable skin which I very much agree with. We ordered the shrimp and pork soup dumplings, wonton in chili oil, and braised beef noodle soup. The soup dumplings came out steaming hot and the broth was delicious. The chili oil at this restaurant is very flavorful so the wontons in chili oil were savory and spicy. The braised beef noodle soup is a must! It was packed with flavor, aromatics, and the beef was extremely tender. The owners also gave us egg tarts on the house and these were by far the best egg tarts I have had in this area! read more
