This is my second time here. The place is small and usually always a wait, it helped that I could join list on yelp so after I got there and parked my wait wasn't too bad. Food is delicious You can order from QR code and the food is made really fast. I'll be back again.

Only menu is QR Code assigned to each table or to go

This restaurant is very popular. There is a wait to get in and an electronic ipad waitlist sign-up . They have soup dumplings, standard Hong Kong style Dim Sum and noodle dishes and soups. We really enjoyed the crystal shrimp and the shrimp and leek dumplings. They were absolutely delicious. The pan fried pork cabbage dumplings were beautiful, but not nearly as tasty as I am used to. My dinner companion enjoyed the corn dumplings and between going outside. The barbecue pork bao tastes microwaved packaged ones from Costco not a fan. The wine was only $6 and not so good. With tip we did spend about 100 bucks which seems a little much for the meal that we had but it was pretty good.

I was very excited to try this place out during my SF trip. It was all over IG when I searched places to eat. We started with the cucumbers and they were tasty. Don't expect it to be cut in small pieces or consistent cuts because it looks like hey cop them quick and serve them, but they were good! I was a little disappointed with the black truffle bao since there was no taste of the truffle itself. The spicy wonton was good but I wish there was more spice to it. I still recommend them. The shrimp leek dumplings were the star for me. You're able to actually taste both in every bite. They were by far my favorite. Also, I got the juicy bao and the way they dry it at the bottom is a game changer! Be mindful as you take a bite because they are very Juicy and it can get on your clothes. Over all I would recommend it and I can't wait for my next visit

It was so incredibly satisfying. The food was 10/10, the service was great and the ambiance was relaxed and enjoyable. Can't wait to be back!

Hey munchkins hope you all are well. This is part 4 of the food crawl. After a long day of Bon Nene, Garden Creamery, Tartine, and Killer Queen we end with Dumpling House. We go back to my house and we go play board games and order some dumplings and scallion pancakes. I get the shrimp dumplings and they are awesome. The scallion pancakes were nice and warm as well. I do wish they were a bit more crispy but that's a very minor complaint. All in all it was excellent. A great end to the food crawl. As I ate I thought back on all my memories with "The Professor". We played a lot of board games, went to a lot of restaurants, and had many a boba. You're an amazing friend and I'm really gonna miss you. I know you're gonna kick ass with what's next and we're all rooting for you. Many thanks to house of dumplings for such a tasty end to a tasty day.

Came back again and even better. I really love the folks that work here. Such a pleasant experience every time. The food is delicious, the tea is hot!

Cute little restaurant , a little bit of a wait but the owners were very nice and seated us after 20 min wait. Orders so many things I forgot but everything was freshly made and made to order so everything was hot. Everything we got was under 75$

The stuff as shown are pretty good as they, quite tasty etc., the only draw back is the restaurant is located quite far from where I am and both the portion size and temperature of the truffle xiao long bao (XLB) could be even better than they are now. XLB portion side is smaller than expected for stomach filling purposes. Black truffle is not hot enough for my preference. I guess for consideration, the restaurant did not want unexpected customers to bite into the hot temperature sauce contained within the XLB to burn your tongue. Otherwise, the dishes below are absolutely heavenly and fix my taste buds just right. I particular like the leek shrimp dumpling, they are mouth filling and the chewy, thick dumpling skin is amazing for texture! Lots of leek and shrimps as well. No comment on service or ambiance since this is via UberEats. But their deco appeared quite tasty and practical for restaurant of this type. Enjoy your next meal there to see for yourself.

After a long day at SF Pride, I was craving some comfort food to warm me up since temps were starting to get chilly. I got on the waitlist and was seated as soon as I arrived. It did start to fill up more throughout the evening. To order food & drinks, scan the QR code on the table & select items; more items can be added anytime. Service was decent & staff were friendly. I did notice something a bit off. I saw staff go into the bathroom with gloves on and come out with the same gloves on. I'm hoped they changed out their gloves before prepping food again. 10/10 - Marinated Cucumber: soooooo yummy! It was the perfect amount of spicy to make it addictive. 10/10 - Garlic Green Beans: these were everything a garlic green bean should be-definitely a must order. 9/10 - Pork & Sweet Corn Dumplings: dumpling skin was silky & soft; lightly seasoned so you could really taste the pork & corn. 8/10 - Wonton w/ Chili Sauce: wontons were tender & made well; chili sauce was mostly just chili oil & not very spicy or too flavorful. 7/10 - Original XLB soup Dumplings: these were solid; nothing special, but still good enough to eat.

We came here by mistake as we were supposed to go to another dumpling place but boy, I'm glad we made the mistake. We were seated right away. The staff were nice and the food came out quick. We ordered multiple items to share and were not disappointed. The garlic green beans and the shrimp toasts are a must. The toasts reminds me of the Chinese donuts that my dad used to make stuffed with shrimp inside. The wonton soup was more on the bland side. I did add the soy sauce and chili sauce for more flavor. You can request for chili oil. There were no leftovers to take with us. We definitely will be back when we are in town.

Decent dumpling place in Castro. All the food was solid. They have plenty of seating, but they seem pretty busy with takeout and delivery pick up orders. So it seemed like everyone had to wait a few minutes to get seated. If you come on a Friday night, expect a short wait. You order from a QR code. Ambiance is okay, nothing special.

Saturday night at 8pm, party of 2. Immediately seated, order through a QR code at the table. Spicy XBL BBQ pork buns wontons in chili pan fried soup dumplings salt and pepper chicken wings chrysanthemum tea ($2/person with refills) i thought these tea cups were so cute and kept the heat from your hand, but the lip is curved in and kinda hard to drink from so be careful. Got their spicy xlb bc we usually put a lot of chili on it anyway, juicy and served with vinegar. crispy soup dumplings are sf dimsum staple, they always have so much soup and the crispy bottom is the perfect base to fill it up with more sauce. The chicken wings reminded me of my childhood and would order again. bbq pork bun and wontons were good but not memorable. There are so many dimsum places in sf (many with long waits lol) and everything i got here you can probs find at all the other ones too. try them all and pick your favorite. i'll probably go back here for their reliable food, easy seating, and kind service.

Incredible service and great food. We had Joanne as our server and she made our first experience here amazing. Phenomenal service, she was very informative, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Our favorites were the shrimp dumplings and the green beans were amazing as well. The mango pudding was incredible!! The restaurant is on the smaller side but doesn't feel small. We got a table within 20 minutes which isn't bad. We will definitely be back again because of the service we had. We aren't from here but this is the best dining experience we've had anywhere.

The staff were friendly and super prompt about clearing empty plates and refilling our tea whenever we signaled it was done, which is always great as the dishes just get on coming! We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and several really stood out. The spicy tendon was fantastic, shredded paper thin and swimming in a classic spicy sauce. The spicy lamb dumplings were another highlight, with an incredibly thin wrapper and a super flavorful and not gamey at all lamb filling. I also loved the stir fried rice cakes, which were sliced thin enough to avoid that overly chewy texture, and the stir fried noodles Shanghai style were classic and simple in the best way, with big chunks of cabbage and meat and just executed really (the chefs clearly have some serious wok skills!). Not everything we ordered was an absolute knockout as the vegetable dishes could use a bit more flavor and seasoning, but everything overall was good, and the portions across the board were very generous. The desserts were a last-minute decision and I am so glad we went for them. The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

We sat at the communal high-top table in the center of the restaurant, which has a small pond built into it with little goldfish and even a tiny rubber duck sitting on the rock formation -- such a cute detail and definitely adds to the ambiance. Our server Ken was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended the Iron Goddess tea, which ended up being excellent. It was a literal dark and stormy night so between squalls I geared up and headed down Guerrero…read moretoward 17th Street and swung down to Valencia for another perfect simple dining experience at Bao. I walked into the restaurant about 45 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM and several other diners came in after I was seated. The unsettled weather made the people hungry for dumplings. Bao is warm and woody and serene on the inside, a great counterpoint to the bustle of Valencia at every hour. Upon entering there is a large window looking on to the kitchen prep area where culinary experts are often at work constructing the food diners later enjoy on their plates. Tonight a couple of wizards were in the process of making chicken potstickers. Even being vegetarian, just seeing how the dumplings and other items are made is like seeing secrets being shared. I love it and it sets the vibe for the restaurant. My order consisted of the steamed vegetarian buns and sautéed string beans. The buns come out beautifully presented and taste even better: the bun itself is just slightly sweet and that sweetness adds an amazing dimension to the chopped fresh vegetables inside. Can't tell you what any of these veggies are individually and I don't care, they are so good. Next came the sautéed string beans and the sear on the beans themselves was perfect and smoky and delicious. The crispness of the sautee makes the string beans a lovely pairing with the soft yummy of the steamed buns. Last came the sesame balls as a sweet meal ending. I love donuts and fresh-made sesame balls are similar to a donut hole just with a filling that is actually food and so sweetly tasty. The outer fry was crisp and the insides absolutely perfect. Three dishes, all fantastic, and I walk home happy and thankful to Bao for a great simple meal!

This is slightly more upscale Chinese/dumplings/dim sum than I'm used to (I usually go to Chinatown.) I like their - Steamed Sweet Red Bean Bao, Steamed Sweet Egg Custard Bao, (very Instagrammable and not overly-sweet.) - Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings. Pretty good - Sichuan Xiao Long Bao and Shanghai Xiao Long Bao: must-get! - shiu mai and har gow: my must-gets at any dumpling/dim sum place. Interior is polished and clean. Nice to bike to or go to before or after Dolores Park. Service is fine. I keep coming back!

Quick and tasty spot. Came here to split a siu mai while waiting for my order from another spot…read more The cashier was super friendly and the food came out quickly. Heads up that this is mostly a takeaway spot and they only have 1-2 small tables. The siu mai was fairly big and I liked that the order came with a bunch of sauces- chili oil, soy sauce, and a hot sauce. As a big sauce fan, I appreciated the selection! I'll be back to try most of their selection.

I've only ordered dim sum from here through Too Good to Go (2g2g). Like their Chinatown location,…read moreI find the dim sum to be oily. But overall, it's good. The baked bbq pork buns are sweet with a decent amount of filling. The deep fried dumpling is plump, juicy, and crunchy. The shrimp and chive dumplings are my favorite. It's full of shrimp with a slightly thicker skin, which I think adds a nice chewiness. The veggie egg rolls were okay. I personally wouldn't order those, even if I was craving them. The spare ribs had a really nice savory flavor from the sauce. The egg tarts were okay. I need to note that these bags are leftovers from the day, so they're not as fresh. But they held up the next day so I was able to stretch 2 meals out of them. I can't comment on service since these bags are only for pick up. But they quickly provide the bags once the window open. And it's a small space, with maybe 2 tables. So this place is probably best for to-go orders. Their 2g2g bags have more variety than their Chinatown location. Not sure how many dim sum options there are in the Mission, but I would go here if I was in the area and craving a shrimp and chive dumpling.
