Best Stop Boudin Pancake

Had an amazing time trying out the newly-opened Dumpling Hour with friends hunger for something new in BR! We were focused on trying the unique, Louisiana-fusion entrees and appetizers they had - and boy were they good! Everything on the menu featuring crawfish or boudin is a MUST TRY! Our favorite was definitely the Louisiana Crawfish & Pork Rice Wraps (if you have to pick one, that's the one to try!) The service was top tier despite being spread a little thin (it was Labor day, so kind of an off day.) We really liked the layout of the restaurant as some work has been done to add interior walls and better seating compared to the restaurant that was there before. It is going to be fun coming back as we want to try everything this restaurant has on the menu. Hopefully they work on getting a menu featuring pictures and descriptions to help those new to their asian cuisine. But the staff was helpful with their recommendations and I can't wait to continue to try new things here!

We went for lunch and everything was great! The new restaurant looked so nice and clean. Our server gave us some awesome recs on dumplings and entrees! We had the steamed wontons with chili sauce, pork mini buns, and chicken pot stickers. The wok tossed string beans were truly amazing! The Singapore Mei Fun was so tasty and light! Highly recommend trying this new spot out!!

WOW WOW WOW. This is one of the best Asian spots to open in Baton Rouge in a hot minute. Everything was delicious, server was quick and friendly, and the place felt so nice to sit and chat. Compared to other new spots opening in the area this one actually lives up to the hype with authentic food and decent prices.

I don't usually like to leave negative reviews but I hope the restaurant can learn from this. The restaurant's menu is similar to like a sushi restaurant where you write what you want. I figured the food would come out in an order that was intuitive (ie apps, entree, then desert). That was not the case... it was as if as soon as something was heated it came out, so desert was first. It also came out so fast that we had no room on the table and we all got really overstimulated. The food all tasted like it was reheated and bland. The soup dumplings were good until you got to the pork inside them... bland and looked super fatty , which made it unappetizing. The fried rice was bland. The ribs, steak kabobs, and pork belly all had a good flavor, however they were so overcooked they were chewy. The general tso dumplings were literally just dumplings tossed in a general tso sauce. I don't have any words to describe the cucumber... so I will leave you with this picture. It hurts me to write this negatively because we were looking forward to this meal but it was disappointing.

What a transformation! The inside was so aesthetically appealing. Service was top notch. She explained everything in detail and was attentive to everything we might need. The food was amazing. Wish we could've got one of everything but of course that's not an option so we have to go back and try something else. This is what we got:

Mongolian beef, Chef Su's spicy beef, soup dumplings

Everything is delicious! I could eat here everyday! If you go, you have to get the Chef Su's spicy beef with glass noodles. It's good for the soul!

Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious. My favorite touch this time was the brown sauce with fresh-sliced ginger. That ginger was EVERYTHING! Such a simple detail, but it really made the meal stand out. Three visits in, and the food and service have been consistently great. Definitely a Baton Rouge favorite!

There are also several house Asian fried rice, chow mein, and Szechuan dishes. We had the Red Oil Wantons appetizer and the Pork Bao and the Shrimp Xiao Long Bao. One note before the food review. The table was sticky. Pardon the pun, but I'm a stickler for clean tables and floors. My rule of thumb is if a restaurant is willing to have a not so nice dining area, imagine what the kitchen is like. Everything looked clean, except the tactile table. The did clean again upon request. Very friendly staff. The Red Oil Wonton were delicious. Well spiced with only what can described as a tiny meatball inside the soft wanton. The stuffed wanton are worth a trip back. Xiao Long Bao is a filled dumpling with soup in it. You put the dumpling in a spoon, take a small bite or poke it with a chopstick, then eat. The broth on the bao was great. Very flavorful as you "popped" the bao and drank it (they supply a big spoon). Other than the logistical challenge of using chopsticks and a large spoon, very tasty broth and stuffing. Special mention for the shrimp broth. Unusual taste. Some in Louisiana may think it's a bit "off" but I really didn't think so. It reminded me of those little dry shrimp they used to sell next to the cash registers at grocers, lol. Just a different shrimp taste. Overall, worth a return trip. Or a visit for something different. On Siegan Lane. $$

The location is fun and creative (food arriving by dumbwaiter never gets old), but the lack of tables makes it tricky if you're planning on more than a quick bite. The menu itself is wickedly tempting, and the flavors are there--the wings especially were excellent. Easily some of the best chicken I've had in the city. My only real issue was the salt. And not the soy sauce or seasoning kind you'd expect with dim sum--just straightforward table salt. We ordered four dishes, and I was glad I saved the wings for last since they were the least salty. By the time I circled back through the other plates, all I could taste was salt, which sadly masked what were otherwise really well-balanced, flavorful dishes (the Dan Dan dumplings in particular had great flavor underneath it all). Overall: clever concept, fun atmosphere, tasty food--but dialing back the salt would take it from good to outstanding. Solid 3/5.

(From October 2025)…read more In the mood for noodles, YELP pulls this place up randomly and seeing the ratings, I placed a to-go order on their website for the stir-fried combo signapore noodles and the combo colorful pan-fried dumplings. About 25 minutes later, I get to the place and pick up the order and then get back to my hotel where I grub down. Both the dumplings and noodles are tasty good. The dumplings came in multiple colors with a nice crust on the bottom and packed with filling. I got caught off guard with the extra fried dough-residue attached to the dumplings but it didn't bother me. The order comes with 2 dumplings each of beef onion, pork scallion, chicken, and vegetable. The combo noodles has chicken, beef, and shrimp mixed in with onions and peppers and a soy-based sauce. IT's a hefty portion that gave me lunch for the next day. I'll have to try the noodle soups and other dumplings next time I'm here. Overall a solid asian eats spot in Lafayette.

I hope you are in the car on your way to Noodles and Dumplings before you finish reading my review…read more We will be coming here so often we will need to add a line item in our monthly budget for noodles. The dining room is light and inviting. We were immediately greeted by a friendly host. The kitchen is partially open so on our way to our table, we saw one of the chefs pulling the noodles. (Very fun for kids and adults I might add!) For starters, we ordered some boba tea. Not sure how often the flavors rotate, but you will have to ask for their flavors of the day. They had mango, taro, and Thai tea when we came in. We had the mango with colorful boba (more similar to a jelly IMO) and taro with brown sugar boba. Both were delicious, not too sweet. Beverly took great care of us the moment we sat down! Being that it was our first visit, she guided us around the menu and gave us suggestions along the way. We wanted to try the Deep Sea but unfortunately they were out. However, per Beverly's suggestion we ordered the Shrimp Tempura and it was very good. The tempura was well seasoned and the fry was crispy but not dry. We also had the Cream Cheese Wontons, Panfried Colorful Dumplings Combo and Beef Roll. Personally, of the four dumpling fillings, beef was my favorite. All four starters are a good choice, but if you leave without trying the Beef Roll, you are doing yourself a disservice. My recommendation from best to still very good: Beef Roll Shrimp Tempura Panfried Colorful Dumplings Cream Cheese Wontons For our main dish (only had room for one after all our starters), we ordered the Black Garlic Oil Ramen with pork belly. This ramen bowl is massive. We barely made a dent in it and we thought they would have to roll us out of the restaurant. The pork belly was also nicely seared thicker cut; none of that thin and overcooked pork belly some ramen places use. I am afraid I will not be trying their other ramen bowl simply because I loved this one so much that I cannot imagine eating here and not getting this black garlic ramen. The custard bao caught our eye so we had to order it to go. (This was when we considered whether we should have ordered less starters. The thought was fleeting as we are looking forward to all the leftovers in the fridge.) I was nervous that the custard would be overwhelmingly sweet. I was wrong, it was delicious even if its light dusting of sugar on top.

I'll be back to try the soup dumplings and spicy wontons next time! Service was quick and pleasant and the food came out fresh and steaming. I've eaten here before and the food is decent, which makes this experience even more disappointing…read more I ordered a dish with shrimp and simply asked to substitute broccoli for the rice. When the bill arrived, I noticed I had been charged extra for the broccoli and also charged for shrimp--even though shrimp was already the protein included in the menu item I ordered. I politely questioned the charge, and the explanation I received didn't seem to match what was stated on the menu. I then asked to speak with a manager so the issue could be addressed. After quite a bit of discussion in the kitchen, the server returned, but instead of a manager coming out, I was given essentially the same explanation we had already discussed. I calmly explained why the charges didn't make sense and expressed that I was unhappy with how the situation was being handled. Unfortunately, there seemed to be little interest in resolving the concern or retaining my business. The food is fine, but my advice is to carefully review your bill before paying. Based on my experience, management does not appear particularly concerned when customers raise billing issues.
