To start it's great that the restaurant has online ordering, which is convenient and time saving. The food was hot and delicious, and packaged in trays that didn't feel like they were going to fall apart. Also there was a substantial amount. The service was great as I was able to pay and grab my order quickly when notifying them I ordered online. Inside was clean and had pictures of some of the main dishes on a display above the ordering counter. There is also easy parking in the lot outside. read more

This has been my goto Chinese spot for the last couple years, always consistent and the food has been great! I personally have really enjoyed their Singapore chicken, it's the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Their hot and sour has also been really good, very flavorful and plenty of veg/tofu. read more

Very good value ..Very tasty awesome food an service with a smile.orange chicken & teriyaki chicken so good

Went one afternoon. I haven't been to this place in a while. Service was pleasant. I placed an order for the Hot and Spicy beef with the House Rice. The food was fresh and plentiful. The entree came with alot of veggies, but not too much that it took away from the beef. Will visit again. read more

The food here was SO GOOD! I ordered from Uber eats and it was still hot when it came to me. I felt that all of the food was STACKED! I got everything for around $21 dollars through Uber eats. I would recommend to anyone else. Definitely had left overs read more

Today, I arrived at work a little late because I had to go through mid-city traffic to get to downtown. I tried to pick up lunch at one of my usual Subways Sandwiches shops, but the line was too long.  Looking down the mall walkway, I noticed this Chinese eatery, the New China, that I had been eyeing for a while.  I noticed that their clientele is varied, so I decided to give them a try.  When you walked in, there were four plain tables with chairs. The aesthetics are somewhat outdated, complemented by some graffiti wall art.  A few local individuals were dining at the tables. A young, polite Asian cashier greeted me at the register, while I perused the wall menu. She presented me with a menu pamphlet.  After a brief glance at the menu, I thought the prices were reasonable.  I went with the beef pepper steak and a diet coke fountain drink from the $9 lunch specials. I watched as the cooks prepared multiple orders in the back.  They spoke in their native language and occasionally chuckled.   It seemed that each dish was prepared to order, taking about 15 minutes per order. However, you could call in ahead of time. While taking my lunch to my office, I wondered if I would be disappointed.  When I opened the box plate, I was surprised to see a generous portion of fresh vegetables and meat, along with a nice serving of fried rice.  Not oily, the taste was fresh, and lightly seasoned. There was no MSG here, I could tell.  I thought to myself, 'Damn, I should have gotten an egg roll.' " Well, next time... Quality and price make it an enjoyable surprise for a quick Chinese lunch and takeout. I intend to return. read more

VERY GOOD LUNCH... REALLY ENJOYED IT I drive by this restaurant (New China) every day on my way to and from work. It sits in the shopping center on the Southwest corner of North Acadian Thruway and it's very easy to get in and out of the parking lot. I ordered the small (pint size) Shrimp Lo Mien with added bell peppers to give it the extra crunch that I enjoy. I also ordered one Egg Role. The food was extremely good. The lo mien was hot, fresh, loaded with onions, bell peppers, and napa cabbage, and it was not dry. It also had about 12 perfectly cooked good size shrimps (cleaned & deveined). That's a lot of shrimp for a small Lo Mien. The Egg Role was hot, perfectly fried, and had good crunch. I paid $10.20 for a small (pint) Lo Mien and 1 Egg Role. Overall, a good value for lunch, but the Egg Roll was a little expensive and small for $2.00 each. I ordered online from www.newchinabrla.com. The website is simple, but well designed, and it's easy to navigate (no need to create an account unless you want to). Just add your items to the cart, answer a few questions, confirm verification text, and checkout. I will dine at New China again. There are a few other dishes I would love to try (specifically the Bourbon Chicken), but I will definitely order the Lo Mien and Egg Roll again. A lady at the dog park recommended this place and they did not disappoint. I thought it was a little pricey until I saw the portion size... The quality of food was great and I highly recommend. read more

When it comes to traditional dishes, this place is up there with the best Chinese BR has to offer.

Just mediocre chinese takeout. General tso chicken not flavorful or spicy, just chewy sugar chicken. Triple green just tastes like boiled veggies in a little bit of boring sauce. I really don't know why this place has such good reviews read more

Really good with white rice. They give you a lot and it's very flavorful! This is my second time getting their bourbon chicken and it lasts me a couple of days. The staff is very friendly as well. read more

We were on a road trip and just wanted something quick and fulfilling. We ordered after looking at the pictures on here and man they didn't disappoint us!! The portions were huge!! We the four of us couldn't finish half of what we ordered....not complaining haha. The taste was great for the Singapore noodles and they gave you lot of shrimps for the order of shrimp with lobster sauce!! The chicken lo mei was very good too. You know some places only gave you veggies instead of noodles. We will definitely go back if we are in town next time!! read more

This is my absolute favorite Chinese food restaurant in Baton Rouge. The food is always fresh and hot, even when you order to-go online! The portions are sizable and the food is consistently good. My family eats from here at least once every month or so. Definitely recommend the sesame chicken, sweet and sour shrimp, shrimp lo mein, and crab wantons! read more

So I tried this place based on the reviews. It was average to say the least. I got the shrimp with mixed vegetables and I ordered online. It said you could add onions and/or egg so I assumed that meant to the fried rice and I wanted green onion so I added and paid extra but what I got was plain ole onions on top of bland fried rice with no seasoning and it didn't have any other ingredients. If I upgraded to shrimp fried rice, it would've been three measley shrimp in a mountain of bland rice, no egg and the rice pretty much looked the same as the plain fried rice except I paid $4 more for three small shrimp. I got the shrimp fried rice with the general Tso chicken. I asked for extra sauce on the general Tso and made sure to ask if they added extra sauce when I picked up my order but there was no extra sauce!! At least the food was hot, like it just came out the wok. It tasted okay. I want to find a Chinese restaurant in the Baton Rouge area I can just fall in love with! But I can tell you, this isn't the place! read more

Ordered delivery from here while in town. I ordered the pork lo mein and the general tso lunch combo. Both were very good. When i made the phone call, I asked how spicy the generals chicken was. She said mild. I asked for medium. I think next time I'll ask for extra spicy. I recommend this place. The food was great and the portions were perfect! I will definitely order from here again!! read more

Now they know how to fry dumplings! Apparently my "review is on the short side" according to Yelp but it's perfect for everyone tired of wet dumplings! The food was really good and they were very fast with our order. We will be back to eat there

I had the food delivered by a service. The food itself was hot, fresh and very tasty. I loved it all and as one who eats all over the country, this is in my top three best. read more

3/5 average chinese fast food most notable for me is that the menu is so similar (if not exactly the same) as Dragon King in New Orleans. There are tables along the sides only (max seating 12) so it's obviously meant as a take-out spot. The lunch specials are affordable, and tastes standard. Came with a fortune cookie, but no egg roll. It may seem shady, but the restroom was clean. Take that as a good sign! read more

As stated in previous reviews, the menu is very similar to...every chinese take out restaurant in town. That's because it IS the same. They all share the same menu because they all make the same food. I like this place. Food is always made to order which is why prices went up from when they used to have the serving line special. Very few tables, but I've never seen them all full. The staff is incredibly friendly. read more

I ordered the Szechuan Chicken, Mongolian Pork, Spring Rolls and Crab Wontons. First let me tell you I have been gone for about 8 years and dying to come back for the food, but disappointed when I returned. The quality has went down, even old spots I use to always go to. So I am always on the watch for new spots. And this will definitely be my new Chinese food spot. First time and everything I ordered tasted fresh, and perfectly seasoned and sauced. The meat in both entree's were tender and the vegetables tender with a slight crisp. Spring Rolls and Crab Wontons were perfect proportions of the wraps and fillings and fried to where they melted in your mouth! I will definitely try something different each time I go so I can see how good everything else is going to be. read more

I have been a patron of New China since it first opened. One thing I love about this restaurant is the consistency in freshness, service, and taste. The food is always prepared to order so it arrives to your table piping hot. The service is always fast and with a smile. Stacy and Henry are amazing and so are the two Wu brothers working in the kitchen. My favorite dishes are the General Tso Chicken, Dragon & Phoenix, House Special Mei Fun, and the Black Pepper Shrimp. The food taste authentic and the atmosphere is inviting. It's the best Chinese joint in town! read more

This is one of my go to places for Chinese food. Mostly just because it is crazy close to the house and they are always super nice and super fast. Food is good. Nothing to write home about but it's pretty good. My main complaint is they recently changed their hours and are now closed on Sundays. That was my only day I ever really order from there so now I don't eat there as much. Oh well. Maybe it's a blessing in a way. read more

This place used to be awesome. $4.25 serving line in a huge box. Then the box got smaller. Then the prices went up. And now the serving line is gone all together. The best you can do now is order a $5 single meat with no sides. Former frequent customer but this is my last time here. read more
