I order takeout from here regularly. The food is all delicious and affordable, and the workers are lovely. Food comes out hot and quick. Occasionally, they might give extra free food on larger orders! It's mostly a takeout place, so the restaurant itself is usually quiet when I go in. If you haven't eaten here in a long time, they've allegedly changed ownership. Regardless, the food has skyrocketed in quality since my family first ate here. Highly recommend the chicken teriyaki skewers and crab rangoon. read more

Food is always delicious & hot. The kitchen looks very clean from what I can see. Service is quick and I love how convenient the online ordering is. Can't beat the prices either! Our fav Chinese takeout spot I recommend any of their beef dishes. The meat is so tender you don't even have to chew it read more

Good food, friendly service, huge menu, and large portions at a fair price. We enjoyed the shrimp lo mein, sesame chicken, teriyaki chicken, Mongolian beef, moo shoo chicken, and Chinese donuts for dessert. Be sure and ask for spicy mustard for their egg rolls. read more

This is the best Chinese place in BR! The crab Rangoons are kinda sweet that I like! The sweet n sour chicken is kind of small so be prepared. But the people and food is amazing! The woman at the front is so funny and personable. She gave my friend and I free food as well! Absolutely recommend and will be my go to Chinese restaurant. read more

We eat Chinese food quite often, was in that part of BR so we picked up take out. The food was of a scale of 1-10 a 2! Not sure how they stay open. read more

Tried China Star for the first time over the weekend and all I can say is this will definitely be my go to Chinese takeout!! I got the coconut shrimp and lo mein and it was absolutely delicious! Definitely the best lo mein I have had. The egg rolls and rangoons were amazing as well. My fiancé got a chicken dish and said it was delicious. The potions were huge for the price and we really enjoyed it. I wish I would have taken some pictures to show just how much food it was but we were so excited to eat I forgot. Definitely give this place a try! read more

Very yummy food and good service! favorite Chinese food in town ! I highly recommend if you're looking for good takeout

This may have been the best Chinese food ... I've ever had. The sautéed string beans consisted of SO much flavor. Hint of spice, but tolerable. The Mongolian beef was amazing. The side of rice just helps balance it all. I will be back. read more

I hadn't had much luck finding good Chinese takeout when I lived on the other side of town. I was hopeful I'd have better luck when I moved to the Bluebonnet area and China Star is already a winner! Pan fried dumplings weren't skimpy on filling and had a great crisp on the dumpling. Singapore Mei Fun (medium spicy) was full of tasty fresh shrimp, pork and chicken strips, big hunks of scrambled egg, fresh bell peppers and the perfect level of spice and dash of curry. Definitely found my go-to takeout Chinese restaurant! read more

I told these people I didn't want broccoli with my sesame chicken. They said no problem. They still put broccoli in my take out.

Always cooked to order, ready when promised on website, very hot when I get home to eat. Delicious every time!

I wanted so badly to like this food but it's the worst thing I've ever eaten . The chicken was soggy and there was a hair in my food it looked like animal hair . When I called the restaurant a lady told me I would not be able to Receive a refund and to my utter shock she said that I would only be able to receive a replacement of my food which I didn't want for obvious reasons . She was very rude and arrogant and I will not be returning to this disgusting establishment. 10/10 would not recommend Save yourself ! read more

In my 2019 travel around Baton Rouge looking for the best Mandarin chicken, so far this place is pretty strong---I have been here 2x and order Mandarin chicken each time---placing the order was easy, although if you have questions there may be a communication problem, and the food is ready in a short period of time --- the Mandarin chicken sauce is very similar to what I recall it is supposed to taste and smell----and believe me when I say not all of the places I have tried thus far can accomplish this. The portion of chicken provided is a good amount in comparison to competitors and you also get pork fried rice. A drink is not offered and there are no veggies. The plastic fork is substandard but it's the usual quality which is usually provided these days ---I will return to try other offerings in the future read more

Overall, I go regularly and would definitely recommend it to others. People who know me and read my reviews know that I love whole in the wall Chinese places -- they are typically amazing or terrible. I love going there, because they have a very simple agreement with their customers: You give me a small pile of money, and I give you a big pile of food. And they deliver. My roommate go about once a month, and we enjoy the experience. I give them 4 stars, not because the food is amazing and the atmosphere is top notch, but because they offer a ton of good food for very little price. The lady who runs the register is always nice. I typically get a large order of the chicken in garlic sauce and a small order of egg drop soup and a drink. It costs less than $12, and I have lunch for the next day. There are lots of veggies and plenty of chicken. It isn't very spicy, but I bet they would make it spicier if I asked. I know they have lunch menu, though I have never made it in for lunch. read more

Started coming here because it's closest to my new house, but I had no idea how lucky I was. This is my favorite Chinese in Baton Rouge.

"Generals Chicken combo, no mushrooms please." "Ok, it will be ready in 5 minutes" that's the extent of my conversation on the phone with China Star, but when I drive up the food is there and piping hot. This place is your run of the mill strip mall chinese restaurant, but i love it. Everything is cooked up fresh. No stagnant buffet. Prices are good and they always seem happy to help. read more

I've just moved here and last night, I suddenly became VERY hungry after a long day of unpacking. This place is right around the corner from my house and I'm glad that it is. I ordered a hot and sour soup and General Tso's Shrimp. The hot and sour soup was delicious and the fried wontons that came with it were perfectly thin and tasted fresh. I've never has General Tso's Shrimp before...all I can say is...YES!!! The shrimp were large and plentiful, the veggies tasted fresh, and the sauce was light and flavorful. My first dinner as a resident of Baton Rouge didn't leave me disappointed. read more

My husband and I chose this place for a quick lunch recently. It is a little gem at the back end of a strip center. The food was delicious and plentiful. I got five meals out of my mandarin chicken, which was very good. My husband gave his sweet and sour pork a thumbs up. The hostess was very nice. The physical setting is humble, but don't let that fool you. The food is very good. read more

Few weeks ago, We ordered take out for dinner. I got the garlic chicken and my fiancé ordered sesame chicken. Food was average. Taste was ok.. just enough to do the job and fill your belly whenever extremely hungry. But the fried rice and egg roll that came with the combination meal was very lacking. Fried rice tasted lk regular rice cooked in chicken broth. I don't even think it touched the wok at all. The eggroll was bland. Tasted lk cabbage in a crispy wrap. Both chicken entree was overcooked. The garlic chicken was flavorful but did not lk the texture since it was over done. We came here bc convenience of location but I doubt we'll return again. read more

I enjoyed my dish from here. It came piping hot, and full of flavor. I ordered it extra spicy, yet it wasn't. You can sit down and eat here but it seems that most of their business is to go. It was ready quickly and is close by. They have all of the classics you are accustomed to ordering, but a real surprising winner is the General Tso Shrimp. That dish is amazing and highly recommended. The have lunch deals as well. read more

This place is awesome. It's my favorite Chinese place in town. It's not your cookie-cutter Chinese takeout, either -- the best meals I've had are trying out the house specials. Don't skip on the appetizers, even though the portion sizes are plenty. Always a delight to see friendly folks when picking up my wife and I's favorite Chinese food in Baton Rouge! read more

Honestly the best mu shoo shrimp I've ever had! Didn't need a drop of sauce and without pancakes it's a great low carb meal!

Small store but convient. Got the sweet and sour chicken and had plenty for leftovers. The sauce is usually what makes the dish and their sauce was on point. Price is affordable, definitely a place I'd keep going back to. read more
