There are so many good things to say about this restaurant. The service is quick and friendly, the food is delicious and will solve your cravings, and the prices are super affordable. The ambiance could be better, but truthfully I kinda like its simplicity. The place is tidy and there's hardly any line, so definitely judge the place on its food over its interior. Not sure if I reviewed this place before---this eatery is located near Portobellos in the Albertsons shopping center at George O'Neal and the Jones Creek intersection---it is the typical Chinese take out restaurant we see on almost every corner but the good news about this location whoich may help it stand out is that it stays open later than most dining places in the area---it's not Waffle House but if you are open past 10:00 pm on this side of town you are a rarity--/this is something which I have to remember. The food itself does not distinguish itself from any of its competitors or not tey based on way I have tried and can compare----but it's a hot meal when I return to my area of town later than usual and the only things open are fast food drive thrus. Service at this location is prompt and I see them working hard---it is just sometimes they are busy which means you have to wait---since they, like many of these type Chinese take outs , get calls for orders to go, you sometime may be the only 1 in there but have to wait while the constant to go orders arrive and pick up---I will be back read more

I was introduced to this place by a colleague who said it was the best. I was thrilled to see they offered chicken and string beans, as Chinese string beans are a favorite of mine. As fresh and delicious as it is, you also get a great value--I can often make a pint order two meals (and I usually don't eat the rice with it). Oh man what isn't good here! I've been ordering from China kitchen for over a decade now! We love the chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, kung pao chicken, sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli, sweet and sour pork, fried dumplings, steamed dumplings, white rice, and MAN OH MAN THE CREAM CHEESE WONTONS! I don't see how anyone could give this place less than five stars. They offer delivery service that is quick and cheap. There is no delivery charge, and you only have to provide a tip. My to go order was delivered at my door within 15 minutes. My friend and I had the General Tso's chicken and sesame chicken. These two meals with eggrolls and Cokes cost a total of $17 (they don't ask you what to drink, you just get Coke). Let me tell you about these eggrolls: they are rolled fresh and I was surprised to discover three plump shrimp inside of them. This is not normal Chinese food. The broccoli in the picture is fresh, steamed and crisp. Two meals is enough for six people. The pork fried rice is flavorful, hot and very soft. Nothing negative to say! read more

Here I go again, busting perfect reviews. This is a perfectly decent Chinese takeout joint that has some tables if you REALLY want to eat there, but unless like me you were in the middle of a 12 hr drive, you really should just take it home with you (where the bathroom is clean and well lit). We ordered the crab rangoon, happy family, general Tso's chicken and pork fried rice. The Happy Family was the best of the lot - had a nicely flavored brown sauce and large pieces of meat and seafood. The Crab Rangoon was also pretty good, it had a thicker dough than I am used to, but the filling had visible pink flecks to indicate there is actually some crab in there, and the taste of scallions as well as a sweet cream cheese. I did not particularly care for the General Tso's. It was spicier than average which is not necessarily a problem though I tend to like a sweeter sauce. The chicken pieces were small and too heavily breaded, not a very good quality chicken meat. The pork fried rice was just not worth the effort. The pork bits came in two colors, and they weren't horrible, but the rice itself had no flavor. The prices were very reasonable. Our bill came to a little over $30 including 3 soft drinks. If you live nearby it's an ok option if you want Chinese in a pinch. But, I do hope the other reviewers are wrong and that this is not the best place for Chinese in Baton Rouge. read more

We eat here often and the food is always great. Being vegan and pescitarian we are always eating asian style food and this place is a 5 minute drive from where we live. Our go to meal is veggie spring rolls, egg drop soup, veggie mei fun, veggie moo shoo, and occasionally we get shrimp with garlic sauce or fried butterfly shirmp. We have never had an issue with our food. It's always hot, fresh and made how we like it. (My bf doesn't eat egg and I don't like bamboo.) The place is fairly clean; which is a plus for any hot wok. It's always The same lady working the counter and she can be a bit dry and unfriendly but we deal with it . Prices are fair and the food is good. I recommend trying them! read more

10/10 would recommend this place. They are open on ALMOST ALL holidays, they have very reasonable prices, and very hard working nice staff member's. Like most restaurants, if you order friday or saturday 7-10 pm you may experience a "long" wait time, but the food will definitely be worth it. My recommendations are the shrimp lomein, crab ragoons, seasame chicken, shrimp and broccoli, and pork eggrolls. This place is near perfect. Cheap, fresh, fast, and delicious! Everyone that works there is so friendly, and they work so hard to make sure you are happy with your food. I've never had anything but positive experiences with this establishment. I'm so lucky to have this place so close to my house. I will never ever order from anywhere else. I've never dined in, but there are only 5 or 6 tables there. Rarely do I see anyone dining in, though there is almost always someone waiting for carry-out. My wife never orders anything else besides Hunan Chicken, spring rolls, and Hot n Sour soup. I usually order one or more of the following: General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Curry Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Wonton Soup, and Egg Rolls. All of these dishes are amazing. Like I said, we've never been disappointed. Added bonus: They're open late. Late for this side of town, anyway. When everything around here closes at 9 or so, China Kitchen stays open til 10:30 on the weekdays and 11:30 on the weekends. Tip: they keep homemade duck sauce in the cooler. Ask for it. Very good and affordable "neighborhood" Chinese food. I throughly enjoyed the house fried rice and egg roll. The fried rice was generously filled with nice sized shrimp, tender chicken, beef and veggies. It had a nice smoky wok flavor. Unfortunately, I made a poor choice with my general tso shrimp- too much breading. The sauce was good, but it wasn't a home run by any means. Service was friendly and fast. The interior of the restaurant leaves much to be desired, but I'm sure 9 out of 10 guests order food To go. It was clean and has lots of easy convenient parking. Great little place located in a strip shopping center. Everything is made fresh. I order take-out here all of the time. Usually they are just finishing cooking my order as I arrive. My whole family loves it. They say the best dishes are: General Tso Chicken, Orange Beef, Sesame Chicken, Chicken or Shrimp Lo Mein, Egg Drop Soup and Shrimp Fried Rice. The crab rangoons are super! This is my go too takeout place and they always get the order right and on time. The chicken cashew is the best because the chicken is cubed and slightly crisp on the outside and the garlic sauce is savory. I have used beyond menu for them and I think Waitr is also available. The prices are great and you get loads of portions. I prefer the noodles because they have a great sauce. My husband loves the shrimp toast with duck sauce and also the crab Rangoon. read more

We are somewhat terrible people for ordering food from a place on Christmas night. We were tired and never really got full from Christmas lunch. So we decided to try to find a Chinese place to order to go food. We got 2 egg rolls and vegetable/chicken low mein. I doubt I spelled it right but anyways the prices were average and they give you a huge portion of food. The egg rolls had a TON of cabbage in them. Hardly any meat at all. The food was very oily and vegetables over cooked. Most of the food seemed over powered with the taste of soy oil. A great Chinese place, especially when you call in since they are relatively fast. the food is always hot and fresh and made the way you want. they deliver if you order more than $10 of food, and you always get enough food to last a couple of days. the only problem is if you call in, they have a problem understanding what you're saying and the first time i did, they got lost on the way here, but called to confirm address and weren't too late. dining in isn't that bad, but it's best to get it to go and enjoy it at your house. Sesame chicken with chicken fried rice is the best and if you like really freakin spicy food, get the General Tsao's Chicken. read more

Ordered the Mandarin Chicken and received overcooked smashed cutlets covered in uncooked batter with a thin layer of fried batter on the outside. Lost my appetite when I watched the chef dig out Lo Mein ingredients from the prep station with his barehands. 2 stars only because the Lo Mein had good flavor before I watched the chef dig around in it with his dirty digits. read more
