Even though the reviews aren't stellar, we tried takeout at Hot Wok because it's the closest Chinese to our new house. It was ok. It's your basic strip mall Chinese takeout. The pork fried rice had little to no pork. The egg rolls, wontons, sweet and sour pork, and General tso chicken were all average. We ordered things that most Chinese takeout places don't screw up which they didn't. We'll keep trying other Chinese/asian takeout until we find our spot. read more

I'm from the island, Where general tso chicken was my favorite dish with a side of fried rice and two egg rolls, I been looking everywhere in the states to find someone who matches that taste, and Hot Wok does it best. Never again. We have supported this particular location from the day they opened. Even happy when the manager received her photo in a magazine. But as food quality continued to decline we went from weekly customers to monthly to occasionally. Always going back in hopes things would improve. This evening, despite them having zero customers, part of our food was undercooked while the other half was overcooked. For example, the 'chicken on a stick' was either so old or so over done that my son, very fittingly, asked if he could have "one of the beef jerkey on a stick." It amazes me how these businesses will raise prices while simultaneously lowering portion AND quality. It just isn't okay, and this was our last time supporting this one. read more

Hot Wok has been our go-to for fast, relatively inexpensive American Chinese for the last several years. We eat there about once/month, and have never had anything but great service and very good food. My husband loves their General Tso's combo plate (with white rice, not fried), and orders it EXTRA spicy. My favorite has to be their Kung Pao dishes, with lots of peanuts and extra spice as well. The vegetables are top quality and so are the shrimp (very large and fresh, though there could be a couple more of them) in that dish. Sweet and sour dishes are crispy and hot, egg rolls are flavorful, and numerous other dishes are all pretty good and served very hot and fresh. My husband just got food from this place and honestly we expected better,he said the general tso chicken was fishy in taste and half of it was cold! I got the shrimp shopsuey nd it was very bland nd only like 10 small shrimp ,steamed white rice has wierd after taste, and finally my fried dumplins weren't as fried,and my shrimp egg roll was mostly flour than shrimp and veggies.We will not go to this place anymore. read more

I mistaken this place for Hut Wok on hwy42. This was terrible!! I ordered through waitr so I was basically stuck with it. There was hardly any sauce, if any on the chicken. Only 3 crab Rangoon came with the appetizer order. Was soooo disappointed and will NEVER order from there again. Wish I would have taken a picture. read more

This little Chinese place is right near my residence but had never tried it until just recently and damn it was good!!! What was even more shocking about the experience was it was my boy who suggested it...WTF!!! This kid wants to branch out his food palate less than anybody I know or am related to....turns out when he was practicing for the DTHS Christmas play they ordered from here one night, he was starving so he tried it and lo and behold, the boy actually liked it...Damn near had a seizure when he relayed that story to me!!!! The night I tried it, the boy was craving some of their Beef Fried Rice, my niece had dropped by for a visit so me and her ordered ourselves a coupla Pork Eggrolls, Steamed Dumplings and Crabmeat Wantons.....Holy Hell, everything was muy delicisioso (a little Spanish lingo)....The eggroll was fried just right and was crispy and moist, the crabmeat (I HATE crabmeat) wantons were light and tasty but the Steamed Dumplings blew me the freak away!!!! Plus the boy didn't finish his full quart of Beef Fried Rice so a coupla days later I heated it up and finished it off for lunch and dammit Jim, even heated up it was still a tasty treat!!! So if you're in the Dutchtown area and craving some hole-in-the-strip mall Chinese stop in and get you some... I placed a call to pick up an order, however when I called I was hung up on twice, I had to call and see if they had even heard me. The only reason a two was given was because my shrimp egg roll was delicious. However, my hot and sour soup was disgusting. After two bites I threw it away. The cabbage was hard, the soup itself with the oils was separating, all hot no sour, overall not a good experience. Definitely try Kaminari before you come here, there hot and sour soup is the best!! read more

I went to Hot Wok today @ 12 pm, two customers in there ordered on line the order was wrong and close to 30.00 the food was cold, the lady is SUPER RUDE. If you're looking for quick Chinese that's also really good, this is the place! I was in town visiting a friend for the weekend and wanted Chinese takeout for dinner. After doing a quick search on Yelp for a restaurant in the area I came across Hot Wok. It only had one review but we went anyway, and it was a great choice! There's a few tables and chairs inside but most people just ordered their food to go. The biggest thing that stood out about this place is how quickly the food was ready. The food came out so fast I literally didn't think it was ours when she called me over to get the food. This place has all the requirements needed for Chinese food...good food, fast service, nice size portions, and cheap! If you're looking for good Chinese give them a try! read more

Have picked up food twice, last time was General Tso's chicken- "extra spicy, please," and tasted like fried chicken tossed in ketchup with zero spice, with one piece of broccoli.
