Ok so I was super excited to see a Shanghai dumpling place open up right around the corner of my home! One Saturday afternoon I called in for an order each of XLB, friend dumpling, beef pancakes, and chive dumplings to go. We were told it would take 15 mins but since we live so close we end uo arriving 5 mins later. It was past lunch time(2:45) so the restaurant was pretty empty, they were very friendly offered tea while we waited. It took exactly 15 mins for our order to come out, so far so good!! 5 mins later we got back home the dumplings were still fresh and hot and smells delicious, overall it would have been a 4 starish experience, that is until we dug into the fried dumplings. This particular order was not properly cooked, the inside part of the dough is way under & still slimy... And one out of the six was empty....it had NO filling at all, it was a sad dumpling :(. The XLB was decent and so was the chieve dumpling, beef pancake a bit greasy. Overall, it is OK. Would we come again? Maybe, cause it's so close... But looks like I still have to track out to Fremont for my XLB fix. read more

First and last time, horrible experience!! Not talk about the super slow 1st, the food and stupid hella customer service are the main reason made me so mad and definitely will not coming back, I ordered XLB and it took more than 30 minutes to come out and it's cold and RAW!!! It's my very first in my life time that to had raw XLB, and no one cares at all when I first complained that the dumpling is cold, and of course, they all ignored me when I spoken loud about the dumpling is not cooked, especially that stupid hella guy who works there just right at the next table taking care of the togo orders like deaf, he ignored me the whole time!!! Dumpling garden is out go-to local place and we have been going there for lunch, dinner and now after pandemic, for many many take-outs. We are a very frequent customers and have easily topped thousands of dollars in total purchase. We wanted to use restaurant coupon and it usually works fine. However, the staff told us that it cannot be used on the weekends, eventhough we have done it many times in the past. I asked him to talk to the manager, and he said "I'm just doing my job". The manager came out eventually and said we are allowed to use the coupon. Overall, it was a very bad customer experience. Many times, when we pick up food, we had to wait so long because the food is just either not ready or more often than not, the staff got so confused and just could not handle the volume of orders. I would say try to find a worthy alternative as it's just not worth it. read more

The plaza looks run down (well it is), but yes - there's a restaurant in there, and I think it's the only thing open at night. They are on Open table, so making a reservation is easy. I also saw tons of Door Dash delivery people coming in and out of there, so I think it's popular for takeout. We got a variety of things - - Marinated cucumbers (涼拌黃瓜): crisp, a little under salted for me - Marinated tendon: thinly sliced, good flavor - Celery and tofu skin (cold dish) - Radish pastries (蘿蔔絲餅): 4 per order, vegetarian - Beef scallion pancake roll (牛肉捲餅) - XLB (小籠包): 6 per order, not much soup, but the filling's flavor was good - Xi An cold noodles (西安涼皮): a little under salted, but texture was good - Dumplings: pork and shrimp with chive, zucchini, pork and Napa, shrimp and chive, chicken - Dumplings in Szechuan hot sauce (鐘水餃): like spicy wontons but with dumplings instead - Spicy wontons (紅油抄手): I wish it had a bit more spice to it, but the mala flavor was good I would definitely get the dumplings again - the dumpling skins were just the right thickness and texture, and the fillings were all good. The dumplings were the highlight, and we ended up ordering more of them after. The Szechuan hot sauce ones are really unique, too. I had the chicken and corn dumplings. They were unique to me and pretty good. I dipped them in the soy sauce+hot sauce, just hot sauce, and no sauce. I liked them with just the hot sauce and plain. My reason for four stars versus five stars is because I tasted my parents vegetarian dumplings and pot stickers and they were okay. The wrapping was great but the filling lacked a little luster in my opinion. Service was great and they honored my Yelp check-in 10% off. Their dumplings are smaller than the other dumpling places I have been. The skin is quite thick and doughy as well. We ordered the shrimp fried rice, 2 plates of dumplings, 1 soup dumpling and a stir fry veggie = $20 per person. I thought it was on the expensive side given that all of us are not very full at the end of the meal. The shrimp fried rice also have very little substance as well. (They used frozen peas, a little bit of onion and just some shrimp). The shrimp in the fried rice are barely cooked; I can see that the center is half transparent. At the time I was too hungry to care (after a long hike) but today I got a stomach ache. Maybe it's related and maybe it's not. They also have no one stationed at the register. I wanted to order a few items for takeout while we are eating in the restaurant. But I stood at the register counter for a solid 7-8 minutes and none of the staff came by to help. Another person was waiting behind me to pick up their takeout order too. During this time 3 of the servers passed by a few times into the kitchen but none of them acknowledged that there are people waiting at the register. This place is close by, and is one of the few Chinese restaurants in Mountain View, so we went back a few times and tried quite a few of their dishes. Unfortunately we haven't been able to find anything remotely impressive on the menu. The meat in the dishes tasted low quality, and the flavors were not authentic. I had high hopes, but the flavor of the sauce was overwhelmed with soy sauce. I didn't detect any vinegar or chili oil at all. Came here with some friends, and to my surprise, I had already had this location bookmarked sometime in the past. Always good to be able to cross something off of my checklist of places to try. Anyways, let's dive into the review. For this meal, we decided to order seven distinct dishes, and share among the 7 of us, family style. In no particular order: - 2 x Shrimp and Chive Dumplings (韭菜虾饺) - Pork Dumplings with Chives (猪肉水饺) - Sauteed Pea Shoots with Garlic (蒜蓉大豆苗) - Fish Fillet in Hot Chili Sauce (水煮鱼片) - Popcorn Chicken (盐酥鸡) - Garlic Noodles (蒜蓉面) - Marinated Beef Pancake Rolls (牛肉卷饼) The dumplings were decent. Each order of dumplings came with 12 dumplings, so with our three orders, that came out to be a total of 36 dumplings. The skin on each dumpling wasn't too thick, and pork and chives are a classic filling in dumplings. There was also an option of getting a combo shrimp-pork-chives dumpling, which some of us had wanted, but we ended up going with two shrimp dumplings instead. Overall, not bad, would eat these dumplings again. The sauteed pea shoots with garlic were also pretty good, though I personally thought that it could have used more garlic. The fish fillet in hot chili sauce was pretty good for what it was worth; while ordering, one of our friends said that they had had the dish before when it was not so great, so my expectations weren't super high; however it turned out a lot better than what I was expecting. I do think, however, that it could have used more spice and numbing peppercorns. The popcorn chicken and garlic noodles, in my opinion, were kind of lackluster; not to say that I wouldn't eat them, but if I were ordering, I probably would not order them. Finally, the beef pancake rolls were really good. At first, we actually received the wrong type of beef pancakes (yes, there are two types). The one we ordered was not the flat one, but rather the rolled up dough with beef stuffed inside. The rolls themselves were really crispy, and delicious (definitely something to get again)! Overall, I thought the food here was actually pretty decent, and for the price point, definitely a high contender for places to come back to the next time I'm in this area. One thing to note, is that some of my friends did mention that the quality seemed to vary a bit; so while my experience was pretty decent, it could be possible that it doesn't turn out that way next time. read more

Typical dumplings you will get from a restaurant. Very thick dumpling wrappers but the fillings taste good. We ordered the zucchini one and the pork green chives one Wouldn't recommend their Xiaolong Bao(soup dumplings) for the same reason. Thick dumpling wrappers might be ok for a dumpling but it is unacceptable for a Xiaolong Bao. It's like you don't want to buy a cake tasting like a bread. If you usually make dumplings at home or you really miss the dumplings your mom used to make, then you probably will be disappointed when you come here. read more

So anyway, we are waiting and waiting and waiting. A table that came in about 10 minutes after we ordered got their food served and we just looked at each other like wtf?! How did we place a small order and not get our food to go yet these people got their food? Needless to say I was not happy. We get home and the disspapointment continues. The "dumplings" are thick and gummy. Not appetizing at all. The won ton dumplings are stuck together I have to pry them apart to put in the flavorless water they called soup which had 3 pieces of bak choy and some unidentifiable black things floating in it. The "pork buns" were some strange chewy, gummy dumpling type things, not at all what I was expecting. My husband did not like his dumplings at all. This set us back almost $40. Decor is drab and service is efficient but aloof. This is to be expected at most Chinese restaurants so it doesn't bother me. I was here for a late lunch and the place was really empty. I don't write Yelp reviews but feel they deserved this one. I had to order lunch for 20 people for a work event. I initially placed the order the day prior to the event, using Doordash and scheduled it to be delivered the following day (and received confirmation from the app). On the day of my event, it was discovered Doordash never transmitted the order. Given this was a very time-sensitive issue I ultimately cancelled the order with Doordash and called the restaurant directly to place the large order. They were immediately able to accommodate our order of 26 dishes with a delivery fee and arrived earlier than anticipated (all in less than one hour notice!). As for the dishes, we ordered a variety of dumplings, noodles, rice, popcorn chicken, green beans, eggplant, etc. Everything was delicious and I would definitely order directly from here again.
