    Vegan Dumpling

Really enjoyed their vegan dumplings! I had them when they were a day old (someone's unclaimed lunch from the day before) and they were still delicious. The menu is very vegan friendly and well labelled. This place seems to be related to Epic Dumpling.

Service was fast and the inside is casual but nice. The noodles and dumpling wrappers are fresh and seem like they're made from scratch - so delicious! So chewy, the texture is really great. I have a sweet tooth so my personal favorite was the egg yolk bun - not too sweet :) Second up is the cucumber salad, very refreshing! I would probably skip the bigger steamed buns next time, since they're not as flavorful to me.

Do not let the strip center's exterior or the restaurant's simple and sparse interior dissuade you. The food is what counts and DG delivers! Fresh tasting, nicely portioned, varied offerings abound. Do note that the details of each item are not the best around. And asking the staff to describe a particular dish may not provide you with a complete solution. Nevertheless, press on forward and order pretty much any item without any concern.

Legit dumplings approved by my very Chinese parents. This is a small restaurant located in a pretty empty plaza in MTV, but don't let the outside fool you. Inside you will find some chewy, thick-skinned dumplings with flavorful meat. There's also some small dishes to choose from but have come here several times before just to get a dumpling fix.

Came at 1:30pm on a Friday and it was not busy at all. A lot people coming in and out for takeout orders. We got the Shanghai pan fried soup dumplings, beef pancake roll and Dan Dan noodles. The beef pancake roll was super crispy and packed with cucumbers and beef. It was probably one of the better ones I've had in a while. The Shanghai pan fried dumplings were sooo good. The amount of soup in there, it bursted everywhere with the bite I took. The bottom was perfectly pan fried. Would definitely come back for these two. The Dan Dan noodles were a bit different from what I'm used to. With a bit of the hot sauce, it added more flavor! Would def come back here again. Service was good and there is plenty of seating.

A bit rundown the inside of this restaurant. Food is mediocre. Service is so so. The lady seems quite impatient while we asked her questions about menu. Mustard green shredded pork and rice cake雪菜肉絲炒年糕- quite authentic. Shanghai pork soup dumpling- average, not soupy enough. Marinated beef pancake roll- 牛肉券餅really bad, pancake is hard and not crispy, beef is not tender and dry. Tofu pickled cabbage claypot- not worth it Salted pea shoots with garlic 蒜蓉大豆苗-just average

The dumplings here were pretty good, I ordered the shrimp and pork and chive dumplings and they were pretty juicy inside. The celery and tofu skin was also pretty good, hoping to try other types of food here next time. The service was alright, the food came pretty fast. The environment is not too big but is very clean.

Went in 30 minutes before closing and they happily served us. The food was great-- simple and very flavorful. Food was super quick. Would come again

ordered at 5:25. Most things arrived by 5:38. the shrimp dumplings and shangahi pan fried dumplings did not arrive until 6:09

Would you go eat out with a group headed by a vegetarian? Wife thought this was Old Town Shanghai on Mary in Sunnyvale when signing up on the Meetup group Castro Social to go to this restaurant. Went out with the six people of the group organized by Anna G, whom neither the wife nor I knew before hand was vegetarian. Hole in the wall place in shopping center on Rengstorff and Central next to the railroad tracks, with traffic backed up on all four sides. Took 6 minutes to get through the railroad crossing signals heading north on Rengstorff during rush hour waiting through two passing trains. Avoid rush hour railroad crossings at Mary, Castro and Rengstorff by crossing over the railroad tracks to Central through Shoreline. You can also use Mathilda in Sunnyvale or San Antonio in Palo Alto. Restaurant minimal ambiance, drafty with cold air coming inside the small eating area whenever anyone entered the glass front door. Temperature hot food had to be eaten immediately otherwise it wouldn't taste good, when it got cold. Ordered food at 5:25. Dishes arrived at 5:39 and shortly afterwards, except the Shanghai Pan fried soup dumplings and Cantonese shrimp dumplings which arrived at 6:09. $11 vegetable chow mein -standard fare, but small portion. $7 green onion pancakes -temperature hot and crispy, could have used more green onions but otherwise perfect. $14 cumin lamb -tasty mixture of thin slices of lamb and a heavy dose of cooked white onions with hot chilis to make it more spicy. $8 vegetable pot sticker -pan fried and firm, but didn't taste it. $9 marinated beef pancake roll -this was more of a wrap. Needed more vegetables inside to compliment the beef, liked the outside flour wrap. $10 Shanghai pan fried dumpling. Thick dough and little soup to go with pork. Received this 44 minutes after ordering. Lukewarm with the soup soaked into the bottom of the dumpling making it mushy. $12 green chive dumpling with eggs -not much flavor and didn't taste the egg. $6 vegetarian spring roll -didn't taste it. $11 vegetarian hot and sour- nice balance of vinegar and spice, with lots of tofu and bamboo shoots. Our leader Anna G didn't like her vegetarian hot and sour soup. My wife and I loved it, and doggy bagged it home. $12 Dan Dan Noodles -awesome spicy dish with bits of pork and lots of noodles perfectly cooked mixed in with cooked vegetables. $9 Cantonese shrimp dumpling. Received this order 44 minutes after by ordering, and it was still barely tasty but lukewarm. 8 tiny dumplings with small amount of shrimp inside. Serving sizes of the cumin lamb and the Dan Dan Noodles on the small side. Would not have ordered the Shanghai pan fried dumpling nor the shrimp dumpling if it would take 44 minutes to arrive lukewarm. Dishes sat around for some time after cooking, before being served. Even at 7pm, traffic backed up on Rengstorff South. Difficult to cross two lanes to get to the left most lane, to make a left turn onto Central. Anna G, we will gladly join you the next time you go to a BBQ place.

水餃頤園 It turns out they are operated by the same group as Dumping Capital 水餃之都 that's closer to where I live. I did not need to come all the way to Mtn. View for the same foods. Dumpling were standard, good quality. Braised pork were excellent, also standard. XLB, the same. Pan fried bao were slightly subpar, but still quite good. The place is clean and services attentive. If I am nearby, I don't mind a quick bite here.

RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! rushing the sorority DG this year, can't wait to join the sisterhood of Dumpling Garden!!! Speaking of siblings in the bay area, I dined with my best friend's brother's high school friend's sibling on their recommendation at DG (to be fair I'm also friends with the older sibling atp) and it just feels kinda full circle bc I used to hang out p regularly with the related Chicago counterpart and now it looks like I've traded one for another. Top of the draft pick if you will, feeling pretty lucky bc this person is so cool idk if we would have met otherwise HEH. Anyways Dumpling Garden goated! Listen, a dumpling order comes with 12 lovely juicy handmade dumplings!! The cumin lamb had me sweating and the garlic noodles were SO garlicky I think I could have had 3 plates. Finally, the pan fried soup dumplings, they are like mini bao filled with meat and soup and then toasted a gorgeous golden brown on the bottom, making every bite crunchy, chewy, a soupy and meaty punch. God is good.

Dining area stark basic... Ordering via app or. Menu And wait staff.

shao lung boa is very good and hand made. soup embedded is flavorful and bright. same with the pork and Napa cabbage dumplings.... light and flavorful... may need a bit of salt and soy for most palates thoug Gh. A bit on the pricier side for XLB. 9/6 PCs... Ouch. But the pt stickers are 11/$12. 2nd visit to try again not busy... Good for a quick bite ... Saturday lunch.

I'm still new to the whole dumpling/dim sum game so I can't say what is good and what isn't so good and am only going by what I have had. I've been on a potsticker and siu mai kick the last few weeks ever since the Sunnyvale Farmer's Market got a stand. As mentioned, siu mai, potstickers and either rice or noodles are my go to dishes and this place didn't disappoint. A co worker and I shared the mixed chow mien, marinated beef pancake and siu mai. All were really good. The siu mai I have had, has pretty much been consistent wherever I go and haven't had any complaints yet. The noodles were the thick and greasy kind I like, so for sure non with that. The beef pancake was interesting. The little bit of sweetness that was there was a surprise, but everything blended well together, but I feel there should have been some type of dip or sauce to go with it. Will for sure be back here to try other dishes, but I think I found a go to spot for my noodles. Located in a small business lot off Rengstorff and Central with the Shell gas station at the corner

There were various dishes on the menu with appetizers, different proteins, carbs, etc. We had already looked at the menu prior to coming so we were able to place our order fairly quickly. Thick stir fried noodles: The noodles were pretty good! They were a mix of bouncy and chewy with small slices of chicken and bok choy throughout the dish. It was quite oily though. Spicy wontons: I thought these were going to be soaked in a peanut sauce but it was definitely more of szechuan chili oil. Maybe I read the description wrong. The wontons were tiny but plentiful. These were just okay, the pork filling was bland. Pan fried dumpling buns: The buns weren't as crispy as they're supposed to be. They had a small amount of pork filling but good soup inside. Be careful biting into one because it was hot. Sweet and sour chicken: Our favorite dish out of everything! It was the perfect combo of sweet and sour. There was more than enough chicken and gave us leftovers for another meal. I enjoyed the extra textures of the bell peppers, onions and pineapple throughout the dish. Definitely recommend! Service was as usual for a Chinese spot. There's a small private room on the right side if you have a reservation for a larger party. They do have a sign up at the front for a $2.50 credit card fee due to rising inflation so heads up.

Mushroom with Gluten Noodle - 4/5 The mushroom and gluten were well prepared, though the flavor was a bit on the mild side. The noodles were the thin type, probably just standard packaged noodles. Shanghai Style Fried Prawns - 3/5 There are two options: one with regular prawns, and one with river shrimp. We chose the river shrimp. The overall flavor was much milder than the authentic version--it lacked sweetness, and the dish didn't have the rich red and glossy look it usually should. Bean Curd with Vegetables - 5/5 This dish was a pleasant surprise, capturing the taste of spring--very light and refreshing. Lightly drizzled with sesame oil and chilled for a while, every bite felt fresh and cleansing, with a lingering aroma. Shanghai Veggie and Pork Rice Cake - 5/5 Highly recommended. The rice cakes were stir-fried to a perfect soft and chewy texture. The combination of vegetables and shredded pork brought out a deliciously savory flavor.
