Another new and different place to try out. I loved the Shanghai noodles. They are bigger than regular spaghetti noodles and the flavor wasn't overly salty and soy sauced. I could eat a whole bowl by myself :). Customers were in and out. They are popular. The waitresses were helpful with ordering. Actually, they recommended the items on the menu with pictures. I like the flavor of Xlb with the pink ginger and vinegar sauce. These came with plain ginger so it was okay for me. The wonton soup was hot and filling, the fried fish with the egg yolk was crispy and good. It's a great place to try Shanghai cuisine.

I enjoy their atmospheres, the foods taste fine. During the summer, you can sit outside and enjoy the breeze and wind. The store boss said I came to their store around 2:25pm, and it was too late for the staffs, because they take a break around 2:30pm. I told the boss, if I came back here next time. I will arrive around 2:15pm.

Fu Gua-no idea what the English for this is. Secret menu item. Gotta chat it up with the waitress to find this out

Came back here and this place hit the spot as per the usual. Cant help but enjoy all the good food here. I don't know what the reviews are saying, but the food is solid. The place got decorations like wooden steamers with dumplings in em. It's exciting trying their menu!!! So many different options to choose from! Food comes so quickly after ordering too!!!

Have been enjoying their dishes n dim sum for quite some years. Their pan fried boa is always delicious. And, they recalls the dishes we had in the Shanghai restaurants in Hong Kong. Most important, the food quality is very consistent. Also, they recently offer more selections - having a new menu with several "dishes not in Shanghai style " Highly recommend!

A few other menu items I tried. Noodles with Scallion Sauce (3/5). The fried egg on top was a bit overcooked for me. The noodles and sauce were flavorful but not what I was expecting or hoping for. I know it's a simple dish, but I am no expert on this dish. My search continues. Sweet and Sour Spareribs (3.5) - good flavor, but not enough meat on the ribs.

My family and I randomly decided to go out for dinner. We weren't 100% set on the original place we chose, so when we passed by Old Town Shanghai, we decided to eat here instead. There was a short wait before we were seated. The ladies were very nice and apologetic about us having to wait - which I thought was very rare these days. Note, there is an option to sit outside (there were 2 or 3 tables out there), but it was cold so we chose to wait. As for the food - we ordered the wine chicken, beef & beef tendon soup, mapo egg tofu, spicy minced pork dry noodles, and and pan fried buns. We originally wanted a rice dish, but I completely forgot to order, which was unfortunate because the tofu would've tasted amazingggg with rice. It was good with noodles too - I'd just gotta make sure I don't include broth. I really loved their pan fried buns. So juicy! My brother said he was just "meh" about it...but he ate 2 whole ones, LOL. He usually dig out the meat in the enter if he doesn't like the bun portion. The noodle dishes were good as well, but they don't stand out much. FYI - they do charge $ for hot tea. They'll still ask if you want water or tea so just a head's up if you're going with people who are used to getting tea at Chinese restaurants as a tradition. They did warn us that it'd be extra charge when my mom chose tea though. I'd say that counts as good customer service - it's rare to hear them inform you about the costs these days.

Located in a neighborhood mini mall with parking is this unassuming spot with great food. Food was authentic in taste and variety. Shao long bao provided a tasty soup with each bite. We enjoyed the fried buns with its flavorful meat filling alongside the rice cake noodles which had the slight chewy texture and satisfying seasoning with just right salt level. The ribs sauce was a sweet vinegar surprise-plate lacking quality. Ambiance was pleasant and service great. Outdoor seating also available (yes the tables have shade).

First time to visit this restaurant for lunch . the environment was kind of like traditional chinese restaurant , with very friendly waitresses there. We ordered pork noodle and pork over rice . The pork was not dry , but soft and tasty . The rice plate came in a good portion size which would be big enough for lunch . The noodle was pretty good . We also tried xiaolongbao as well , be expected need to take 15-20mins wait time , but the taste was kind of average . I will come here more often for lunch .

Came here on a Thursday after work and the plaza is pretty empty. The restaurant was pretty empty too but the waitress was not too attentive. When it came time to take our order, she spoke to us across the room lol. We ended up ordering some vegetable pork wonton soup and a fried chicken rice plate. The wontons came out first after some time and they were pretty good. There was definitely a lot of vegetables in them. I was really excited for the chicken but it ended up taking so long and when it came out it was so over fried and dry. I did appreciate that they came with a variety of side dishws but aa I'm writing this there is still chicken fibers wedged between my molars. I'd steer clear of anything fried here but the other stuff could be okay.

Waited super long for the food... The store needs to better balance its delivery/pickup and dine in... Went on a weekday night, was quickly seated but waited a long time to order then get the food. There is just a lack of servers and cooks. Ordered a bunch, spareribs was really good and authentic, pig ear also tastes yummy and crispy. But honestly disappointed at the tofu puff and noodles - could be more flavored and pig feet in the noodles could be deeper cooked. The store seems to be prioritizing takeout/delivery over dine in, because as we waited for our food multiple deliveries was picked up. Due to the busyness, two owners(?) seemed to be in a fight and yelled/complained impatiently, which is not contributing to a good dinning experience... After tax and tip was $35 per person.

Finally decided to explore further away and try this place. I don't know why this is old Shanghai when it is straight up taiwanese. The beef noodle I had is taiwanese. There is several other dishes that are all very familiar. Anyways. It was typical. My food came quick like in 2 min for the beef noodle... translation, just boil some noodle and put in the ready made beef stew. I thought the beef briskets were a little overcooked. In any case, will be back for more... mainly the rice plates... nice taiwanese restaurant

Came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm and there was quite a few people here. They have outdoor and indoor dining. Spicy Minced Pork Dry Noodles - yummy! Not too spicy but it was packed with so much flavor! The minced pork was well marinated and cook. Finally minced pork that didn't feel dry at all! Simmered Combo - my husband's childhood snack. He absolutely loved it. Simple and easy dish. XLB - meat was very tendered and juicy. Pan Fried Bun - just like the XLB, the meat was tender and juicy! Still has crips on the bottom. I would definitely come back here again.

Y'all this is where Mama Chef moved. I miss the Taiwanese owner's hospitality and her incredible small dishes. We stopped by Old Town Shanghai for a late lunch, after a semi-disappointing experience at Hanabusa next door. This spot is famous for their pan-fried buns and XLB. We got their chicken XLB since ya girl does not eat red meat. The XLB is so juicy and flavorful, 100% recommend that since it was my favorite item. We also ordered a bunch of pork items- spare rib, wontons, and a smoked fish. At our table, everyone clamored about their panfried buns, which came out distinctively in a copycat cast iron pan. We looked around the other tables, and noticed some rice dishes and noodles, but we wanted more small plates and special entrees. We left very full and satisfied. All of the foods were very affordable and flavorful. We also noticed a lot of doordash orders were picked up throughout the lunch. There were large groups of multiple families to the single diner as well. Definitely recommend Old Town Shanghai for your Chinese/Taiwanese dining needs if you're looking for something authentic and no-fuss. Seating is only indoors though. My Asian family will def be back.

Mushroom with Gluten Noodle - 4/5 The mushroom and gluten were well prepared, though the flavor was a bit on the mild side. The noodles were the thin type, probably just standard packaged noodles. Shanghai Style Fried Prawns - 3/5 There are two options: one with regular prawns, and one with river shrimp. We chose the river shrimp. The overall flavor was much milder than the authentic version--it lacked sweetness, and the dish didn't have the rich red and glossy look it usually should. Bean Curd with Vegetables - 5/5 This dish was a pleasant surprise, capturing the taste of spring--very light and refreshing. Lightly drizzled with sesame oil and chilled for a while, every bite felt fresh and cleansing, with a lingering aroma. Shanghai Veggie and Pork Rice Cake - 5/5 Highly recommended. The rice cakes were stir-fried to a perfect soft and chewy texture. The combination of vegetables and shredded pork brought out a deliciously savory flavor.
