We've been wanting to try Dumpling Empire, and so glad we did! Finally a go-to dumpling place in the Omaha metro area! Everything we had was bomb! Shrimp dumplings with their house sauce was my fave! Scallion Pancakes are probably our fave in the Omaha area. Chili oil noodle was also really good! The pork belly buns weren't my favorite, but still worth a try, especially if you like pork belly! The restaurant is very spacious and clean. Servers are friendly! Parking is ample, but on a busy day in this plaza could have to park in nearer to one of the other businesses in this area. It is one of those simple restaurants that feels homey when you step in. It's been hard finding authentic Chinese food in the Omaha area, but this one took me by surprise the first time I went. I really liked the open concept they had and how you can see the dumpling-making stations! The dumplings were especially authentic - a very fitting name for the restaurant! I was slightly disappointed in their noodles, though. They had the traditional types of noodles, but the taste was just a little off. I dipped all of my dumplings in it because it's just so good!! All of the dumplings were great -- we got steamed and also the fried buns. Both were delicious! I really want to try their noodle dishes in the future! We will be back! My only complaint is we weren't sure if we were supposed to order at the counter or wait for a server and same when it came to paying. I really enjoyed the garlic tofu and scallion pancakes. Both were made perfectly and with the right amount of seasoning for a balance in flavor. We also tried the shrimp dumplings, which had a strong shrimp taste, and the vegetarian buns. Both were good, but I don't think I'd order them again. There's lots more to try on the menu! They were outstanding. Although the pork belly one came out first and the beef one we ended up taking home bc it came after we finished the rest of the meal. Strange timing, for sure, but they credited our bill without us asking--a customer service trick to keep the complaint element low and expectation high, for next time. They were honest about the mistake and took the time to make it right for us. Very appreciated. We also got one order of fried pork dumplings which far exceeded our (very low) standard of made-at-home-from-the-freezer-section style, we are used to. We ordered several dishes so we could try a variety, and everything came out fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. Since we ordered quite a bit, the staff did a great job pacing the food so it never felt overwhelming. The crab rangoons were light and incredibly tasty, and the tri-color dumplings were not only beautiful but also full of flavor. I'm surprised at how decent the braised beef noodles were. It was full of flavor and didn't hold back on the spice/chili oil. The noodles were filling enough that I didn't need more food. Not too fancy, overall casual but well kept, clean and spacious Service- service was overall quick however our server did not know the menu well and overall was unable to provide helpful suggestions. We ordered some dumplings, wonton soup, and my partner ordered their meal however I was still deciding on my meal so we had them come back in a few minutes. I then ordered my meal approximately 5ish minutes later however when it came to delivering the food, all of the dumplings, soup and my partners meal came at the same time and my meal came much later when my partner was almost done. Typically you'd think both main entrees would come together despite ordering a few minutes later. Also not ideal to have everything we ordered come at once but overall not the biggest deal. Food- the food was underwhelming. The spicy chili wonton soup was good but not the most flavorful wonton soup I've ever had. The soup dumplings were also good but nothing mind blowing. We were disappointed in the entrees (Mongolian beef and king pao shrimp) which tasted very average at best. Overall this place is ok . Worth trying at least once. The staff was incredibly kind and polite and knowledgeable about the menu. Speedy service too! We got shrimp tempura, a wonton soup, and two orders of pan fried dumplings. This soup made me grin like an idiot. I cannot begin to explain how delicious it was. The broth and wontons were perfect! The dumplings were also pretty dang incredible. First off I want to start by saying the food here is good! Service on the other hand is god awful! We ordered online and were told it would be a 20 minute wait. Showed up 20 minutes later and was told it will be out in a few minutes. After waiting 20 extra minutes inside I went to the counter and was trying to get the attention of any employee working. They all looked at me and kept walking away. Who does that?? If the food won't be ready in 20 minutes then don't tell the customer it will be ready in 20 minutes. I'm so excited for a delicious dumpling place that serves soup dumplings! This place was new, busy, clean, and so yummy! The scallion pancakes could have been crispier but still decent. We were able to sub the flat noodles in the sichuan noodles and wow they were great! Not very spicy but good flavor. The soup dumplings were prepared well and definitely a must try. The pan fried pork dumplings were also fluffy and flavorful. The strange taste dumpling soup was also delicious. It is similar to your average spicy wonton soup but not very spicy. It was packed with flavor though so would definitely order again. The waitress was very attentive and sweet. The cooks made a mistake, and she quickly corrected it. This is one of my new favorite spots on rotation for dinners out with our two toddlers. There is a lot of food here that my two year old and ten month old like to eat (noodles, veggies, soup dumplings and dim sum, scallion pancakes, etc). They are very accommodating with kids and have multiple high chairs with straps available in the restaurant which is always much appreciated by our family. I personally love the spicy cucumber appetizer and the eggplant too! The sauce that they come in is great for dipping the scallion pancakes and dumplings! Make sure to ask for chili oil or black vinegar to eat along with that. Next, we had the steamed tri-color dumplings that are packed with filling, with thin skin. We also ordered the spicy noodle and kau pao chicken. The spicy noodle is not really spicy but it has tangy chili peanut oil. The kau pao chicken is okay. Ok, so after having another friend suggest going here the day after, and another friend saying it was good, I tried it again. The pork stir fry noodles are very good. I got the soup dumplings this time and they were also very good. I tried the cucumber salad and enjoyed the couple bites I had. My partner loved the noodles in chili oil, but wasn't expecting them to be cold. She still really liked it. Friends got dishes they all enjoyed - I tried a crab Rangoon and it was great. I did see that not only are the noodles made in house, but the dumplings were being made in house, too. You can see into that part of the kitchen from the dining room, while the hot area of the kitchen is behind closed doors. Service was still good. I had to get the server's attention for a refill once but he wasn't ignoring us by any means. So after a second try, updating from 4 to 5 stars. I still think the cha siu bao are too expensive for what they are, but the noodles, soup dumplings, and crab Rangoon brought it up to a 5. read more

Dumpling empire delivers a much needed infusion of Asian flavors to Omaha. We went shortly after their grand opening and we were lucky to get a seat because not long after people were left waiting though I'm sure they did not regret it. We sampled as much of the menu we could fit and then some! The scallion pancakes were good the XLB were fun colors and perfectly soupy on the inside without breakage of the dumpling. The pan fried dumplings were good with the table sauces and both noodles were excellent. In fact the noodles beef noodles were even better the next day after the flavors marinated for longer.
