That should speak volumes--if the damage existed when I brought the car in, it would've been documented. But it wasn't. When I spoke with "Chris," who handles Teslas at the shop, I explained that I didn't think I should be responsible for a deductible on damage clearly caused while the car was in their care. Instead of having a conversation, I was dismissed with a sarcastic "sounds about right," as if my concern wasn't worth his time, and I was just going this the money. It felt incredibly disrespectful. This isn't just about a cracked roof--it's about accountability. Accidents happen, but when a business won't even acknowledge the possibility that they caused damage while your car is in their hands, that's a serious red flag. I had just left work and accidentally left my wallet in my girlfriends car so I was panicking. I passed this small auto shop and pulled in! I was greeted right away by a very friendly gentlemen who told me he didn't have an electronic Siphon tool but he would do it the old fashion way for me at no charge! After he finished removing the bad gasoline I thanked him repeatedly (he litterally saved me huge money on a blown motor) he asked where I was going I said I'm gonna push it a crossed the street and see if I can ask a few people for pocket change till I get enough to fill the tank which was about 3 dollars! An amendment was needed, done fine, and car was returned to me apprx 2 months later. The car was not completely fixed however. I called Moodys and spoke with "Moodys Employee 1" who said it was probably just rust from sitting for so long. Drive it for a bit, jam on the brakes to clear the rust. After a bit, no success. I call them back, brought it in and ME1 test drove it, recognized the brakes were not correct. Said he would order parts, call me when they were in, and finalize the repairs. I emailed my insurance company to keep them aware. My rep had been in contact with Moodys all along and had already paid out the claim. Another amendment would be needed. This was July 23. I kept calling Moodys every couple weeks to check on "parts". Eventually in September, now passed on to Moodys Employee 2 who said they're too busy, but would take the car in, flatbed it to dealership to fix because they were so behind on jobs. I did this and received rental car on Sept 29. ME2 called same day, left a message saying car was fixed, still at dealership and he would call back when it arrived. My car has an app that has current gps location. I did not hear from ME2 again. My app showed car was still at dealership. Despite this, and giving it some time (considering it has now been 6 months since my car first went in. I thought they were really understaffed and really behind) called to inquire as to when I could get my car. Was informed ME2 was no longer employed there. Passed back to ME1. ME1 said all is complete and they'd been calling me to come get it. I never received a voicemail after ME2 said he would call again. I go in next day to return rental (Kia) and pick up my car (Volvo). Everything was fine when I did this. Nobody mentioned that I would be charged for the rental car or any portion of it. A week later, I receive a call from Enterprise Rental Car. Moodys refusing to pay the bill now. I call my insurance company for advice. The insurance company said that not only did Moodys not contact them, nor did they submit another amendment, but they are not allowed to subcontract out repair work. Especially when my car was still under warranty. The insurance company did not sign off on the brakes. A lot went wrong and concerned the insurance folks. My insurance company is doing an investigation as is my credit card company for the rental car charge. Moodys refusing to accept responsibility for all of the rental car days and never told me I would be charged for it or any part of it. I have also been advised to report them to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

The finance person was also very professional and friendly. The neutral - took longer than expected, but I guess this is how the process is when ordering. There was some miscommunication/lack of disclosure on a military discount that we found out day before closing did not apply unless we used their financing. Also, I was disappointed that my near total brand loyalty over decades only was worth $500 discount, but that was what it was. The bad - Took delivery of a new Lexus Rx350 yesterday that had been ordered in early December. We were told by our salesperson that the car would arrive on Tuesday and they would need a couple days to recon and sticker the car. We made an appointment for Saturday. After arriving at our appointment on time, our salesperson was busy with different customers. At first, this bothered me because we had an appointment, but the situation resulted in us going right in with the finance person which ended up speeding the closing process. After the closing, we were taken to a special glassed in room where they process the final delivery. Unfortunately, the temporary plates were not on, and the rim was put on upside down when installed later. The technician did fix it promptly once brought to his attention. Then we moved to the technical part - when trying to log into the app, a different person's name was in my profile - very disconcerting. I was helped through correcting. Once ready for the actual tech support part, our salesperson was available and did that part. The inside of the car had several strings and stickers hanging off that had not been properly removed during the recon process that they had 5 days to complete. Also, the vehicle was quite dusty. The salesperson even commented that she would need to speak with that department about how poorly they delivered this vehicle. Overall - I have the vehicle I want and love. I found the process often frustrating with no real alternative option - Berlin City is the only Lexus dealer in the state, and I felt like the customer service was overly complacent. The dusty car with stickers and hanging strings was a huge let down. We have gone out of state before, but that comes with its own issues. All that being said, the sales and finance staff was super nice; however, the experience needs to match the demeanor.

Decades ago, Hewitt's Auto Body had a good reputation. I haven't been hit or in any accident in…read moredecades, and didn't realize that Hewitt's had been purchased by POC Collision (or VIVE) back in 2015. As with most good companies that get merged into a big company, profits suddenly take priority over quality. When I went to pick up the car, the estimator at Hewitts pretended to not see the obvious misalignment of the area that was supposed to have been repaired. The gap at the left headlight where the car was hit was much much tighter than that of the right (original). The gap at the hood at the left side where the car was hit was much larger. The left frame member under the hood that held the headlight assembly was still bent, indicating that they had not fixed whatever it was that was bent in the frame. The repainting matched, but there was pitting and splatter. Noting the estimator's indifference, I pointed out the obvious issues to the estimator again, but I said that I would take it as-is. He possibly felt a bit embarrassed, and offered to have the tech try to fix it. I agreed. I picked it up the next day, and though a bit better, it was far from even "good", as shown in the photos. The photos were taken after the "final" repair after the estimator had the tech try to fix it again. The estimator said that he got it as good as he could. The likely culprit at the left headlight is a slightly bent frame member. The misalignment of the bumper cover is likely a re-assembly issue. The paint splatter/chips as shown in the photos are just icing on the cake. In summary, unless your car is a beater, don't take a car that you like to Hewitts. Find a smaller auto-body shop. Update Oct 4, 2025. I had to get under the car to change the oil today, and found three areas where the plastic rivets were missing or just hanging on the bumper cover that Hewitt's replaced. Poor work and even worse quality control at Hewitt's. Updated Oct 21, 2025. The nightmare gets worse. While closing the door, I noticed some black dots on the inner fender that was replaced. The "dots" turned out to likely be fingerprints from when the wet door panel was installed after being painted. While checking that, I noticed that the inner trim was not installed. Subaru Part No. 59140FL000 Name: Cover - Rear Fender, Right Calling USAA for a refund and to see about having USSA be removed from USAA's list, and to get this fixed at a different body shop. The insurance for the accident was handled by USSA, and that part went fine. Over $5,000.
