He was quoting $2,500+ for the steering rack and $553+ for the bumper reinforcement. I took my car to three other reputable shops in the Portland area. I was quoted $337 for the bumper reinforcement with OEM part, and the repair man even told my father and I that we could replace it ourselves because my father was able to remove the bumper cover himself. The other shops I went to told me I only needed my inner tie rod replaced including a wheel alignment. I got this repair done for $220 dollars and my car drives great. It is a 2013 Honda CRV with 70,000 miles that has never had issues on the road. The one difference between going to Carter's and going to the other repair shops is that I went ALONE (without my father) to Carter's a as young woman. I remember when I dropped my keys off at Carter's and the man at the desk called me "sweety." Unprofessional and patronizing. Carters is deceitful, greedy, and untrustworthy. Do not come here unless you want to get taken advantage of.

When I last called, I was told by a very kind woman that they were waiting to START repairs because they hadn't received all parts. The parts missing? A seatbelt. So all body damage has been allowed to fester in snow and rain and all other elements waiting for a seatbelt. I was told by that kind lady that they were looking at March 26 as a finish date. Now they are telling my husband if not done by the 29th, they'll pay for a rental! The 29th?! What happened to the 26th? And how about paying for the rental for February and all of March? Insurance took care of January's rentals, but even they are shocked at how long Moody's is taking on getting to working on my vehicle. My husband chose them for their "great ratings," so I'm wondering where that customer service and attention to detail went when dealing with our vehicle.

I have an older Lexus SUV, California car, no rust, ran like a champ cross country. After assessing the vehicle last week, Stroudwater Tire & Auto told me I needed new rear brakes and nothing else. They estimated $300-400, and I said fine. I set up an appointment the following week and dropped the car off as planned. These guys did the $300-400 work today and THEN called me to tell me I needed additional work done based on a dashboard warning light. I should now explain for the Mainers reading this review that there is no vehicle inspection in California (or any western state to my knowledge), and this same dash light has been on for the past 2 years. My mechanic in CA assured me that it did not adversely affect the car and posed no danger. But I digress... My complaint is that this warning light was on when these guys assessed the vehicle and recommended rear brake replacement last week. Only after they completed the brake replacement today did they inform me that I needed additional work (up to THOUSANDS of dollars) in order to pass inspection in Maine. This is an older vehicle, and I am not willing to put thousands of dollars into it. I am now faced with trading the car after paying for these clowns to replace the brakes! Where I'm from... this is called some BUUUULLSHIT. Whether it was intentional or not, I recommend steering clear of this place.
