We wanted to try hot chocolate at another spot, to compare and contrast to San Gines (Madrid) and local Granja Viader and admittedly, I had eaten way too many churros at the hotels and elsewhere. So we decided to have the Melindros cookies for a change. These cookies were like oversized lady finger cookies that's used for tiramisu. I once again ordered hot chocolate with fresh, whipped cream and that was excellent!! Looking back, I'd skip the Melindros cookies and get the churros instead. I guess I like the churro texture so much more. This is also close to La Rambla (Gothic quarter), so it's convenient to stop in and get your chocolate and sugar fix. It's definitely a solid choice as Dulcinea has been around since 1930.. I've also been to a Dulcinea in Iloilo (SM) but I'm sure there's no connection.

Good food. Good service. Great location. It's a smaller place but it's perfect and quite intimate for a quick sweet bites.

I encourage everyone to try churros from several places to really savor the subtle differences. The churros here are a little thinner. They are crispy on the outside (as they should be), but kind of sticky -- like mochi -- on the inside (1 star off). I prefer the churros that have more of a doughy consistency on the inside. They were still good, just not my cup of tea, or rather cup of hot chocolate!

Came here after watching a YouTube review. Supposedly this place is 89 years old. I was excited. Place is on a small beaten path off la rambla and it was packed. You seat yourself and waiter comes to take your order almost immediately. We ordered two Swiss chocolate and one churo, one lady finger something. Foods arrived quickly. The Swiss chocolate was no joke! Dense, fresh cool whip cream on top over thick, smooth chocolate. Took me a while trying to stir it all together. Then comes the time to dip my doughy carbs into the magnificent dark matter. Churo and ladyfingers came out with completely different level of deliciousness. Churo was heavier, tastier and familiar. It tasted like a fried doughnut dipped in chocolate but way better. The lady finger (it may not be called lady finger. I forgot the name so I am making it up) was airy, light and refreshing. Almost had a lemony flavor to it. They were both good. Bill came out to 10 euros and it was worth every cent. Was it earth shattering good? No, but it was definitely something you must try in Spain. Side note: place is busy and big. So not much friendly chatter with staff in this place. Bathroom is tiny and broken. Seat fell off when I tried to lift it, knocked over the container that holds the toilet scrub and mysterious dirty liquid flowed out of it and through the bathroom Door to the outside....... Friendliness: 3/5 Price :1/5 (the lower the cheaper) Deliciousness: 4/5 Cleanliness:3/5

The service is great and the hot chocolate is even better. It's not too sweet at all. They even give you sugar to add if you'd like, but you don't need it. We also got the cookies the dip them in chocolate.

Delicioso churros no están super dulces y el pan dulce estaba muy rico. Buen servicio pero el chocolate caliente estaba absolutamente delicioso. Buen ambiente y bien ubicado.

We went here twice during our trip in January 2020. It was so so good. The chocolate isn't too sweet which was perfect. I preferred the melindros over the churros but the boyfriends preferred those! So perfect for a nice breakfast treat. All of the staff is amazing there. Both times they were very attentive. You seat yourself and they will bring a menu. You won't be disappointed!

My visit here was actually serendipitous. My love and I were supposed to go to another place a friend suggested but instead we ended up here. Truth be told I am glad we stopped by. This is a 'not-in-a-negative-way' unsophisticated place for the locals where you can share some 'churros with chocolate' and have a chat with your companion. Suffice it to say this is a truly affordable Cafeteria. I did not looove it but I surely liked it. The hot chocolate for the churros was a little grainy and not smooth like some other ones but not terrible. Oh, and the chocolate flavor was a bit mild. Sort of like a homemade chocolate pudding, the first time once tries to make it. However, the churros were on point. So was my coffee, strong: Just what you need in the morning after 15 days of traveling.

Great little place. You have to stop in for some croissants and other pastries. Very popular with the locals.

Very disappointing and over priced! Will not be returning there. They get 2 stars because the service was acceptable.

After a dozen attempts to dial in the pour the staff was honest and upfront about the selection that it couldn't be made to their standards. Wow, love this! Instead of giving me my drink and rushing me out the door, it was all about the quality. Being new to espresso making at home I fully understand the 1:2 ratio in a specific amount of time for making espresso. I took their advice and went with another bean selection. My iced cafe latte was for take away and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors. One thing to note for any Americans that expect sweetener, there is none here. I wasn't bothered by this but I could see many others might be. Looking back I wish I had bought some beans to bring back home to Cali.

Service was fast - order at the middle kiosk and wait for your drink. They have a few iced drinks available, and you can choose which 3-4 beans to make the drink with. We got the iced latte along with the shakerato. The shakerato had no milk, so you can definitely taste the beans/coffee flavor. As for the iced latte, it was definitely less better and slightly more sweet and creamy due to the milk. You still tasted a bit of the flavor of the coffee.

Caravelle is quaint and modern, and the service is definitely on the more lax side. Note: smaller parties may be seated at the communal table, and this place stays busy! Be prepared for a bit of a wait. I started with a café con leche, and although I'm not usually a sweets-for-breakfast kinda person, the croffle looked too enticing online to pass up. Being a huge egg aficionado, I also ordered a side of eggs à la carte. My coffee arrived quickly, but after waiting 30 minutes, I noticed that guests who had arrived after me were already enjoying their meals... When I checked in with the waiter, it turned out my order hadn't gone through at all. I had to reorder, and while waiting, I asked for another café con leche since I was long overdue for a refill. Unfortunately, that second coffee never came--but on the bright side, my meal eventually did. The croffle was freaking divine. Crispy/flakey on the outside, and soft inside. The cream was sweet, but not overpowering, and the tart of the berries balanced out the meal. As I was getting ready to check out, the waiter asked if I had ever received my second café con leche. Embarrassed for them, I admitted that I hadn't... Realizing they'd made ANOTHER mistake, he apologized profusely and quickly asked the barista to make me one to go. To compensate for my time and patience, he generously comped my entire meal, leaving me to pay only for the initial coffee (2.50 euros). Despite the service hiccups, the food was incredible--truly one of my favorite breakfasts in Spain.
