The staff today was VERY RUDE and not helpful. I originally went to this place be Austin the morning customers receive a free croissant when ordering a coffee. This morning for some reason they told me to order and pay by the automated machine. I did as I was told inputted my cappuccino and croissant and was charged $5.40 instead of the $3.40.. I tried my best to explain and the cashier was really annoyed and felt it was too much of a task to refund the over charge and told me(after the server told me to) I should not have used the machine!!! As a visitor to beautiful Barcelona I was very disappointed and started my morning off feeling stressed. A great place to get fresh pressed vegetable juices... and right next door to Casa Battlo, if you need a quick pick me up before or after your visit! Part chocolate shop, part cafe, there is both indoor and outdoor seating, a 3-stall co-ed bathroom, and a plethora of fresh foods and drinks to partake in. From the back patio, you can see the back balconies of Casa Battlo, as well, so a unique view that you won't get on the tour there. The building that the cafe itself is in is also outstanding - made to look like a chocolate box for the owners, who were chocolatiers. There is lovely stained glass and carved wood everywhere inside, so it's worth a sit down for your snack just too look at it! BF had hot chocolate and pasties here, which he enjoyed. This place is a great spot for a healthy, tasty, affordable lunch! On our third day visiting Spain, my husband and I started craving vegetables, and a Faborit salad hit the spot. You arrive, pay for your salad (selecting if you want 4 or 5 toppings), and the select your toppings as the salad is made in front of you. The 5.50 price was quite reasonable, and I enjoyed my salad. Girlfriend and I are coffee shop aficionados visiting from LA and previously from NYC. NEEDLESS TO SAY, we've been to a lot of great coffee shops and even more subpar ones. Faborit is a beautifully decorated juice bar / cafe that feels and looks modern and beautiful. Gluten-free pastries and other delectable treats are available, as well as fresh-squeezed juice and the usual coffee varieties. They also have tasty-looking healthy bowls if you are in the mood for a light lunch. We shared a couple of matcha lattes that were good, and opted for the outdoor patio seating. Note: the patio seating is semi outdoors and not exactly outside, but outside the restaurant. You will NOT get a lot of sunshine in the outdoor seating. Would definitely come back as a retreat from the high-end shopping of Passeig de Gràcia. The entrance is setback a bit from the street so make sure you look through a cave-like entrance to get there. read more

What a wonderful find when we went to see the Casa Batllo, as it was located in the adjacent building. The entrance was spectacular, with colorful designs and a brightly lit CAFE sign. It's all about the CHOCOLATE here. Try the Tassa de Xocolata. It's this amazing, thick, rich hot chocolate that is basically melted chocolate. Kinda like when you are baking and melt chocolate and you eat it. But better. They serve it with a bread for dipping and a spoon. Cause you will want to eat the rest. If you loved it as much as we do, their chocolate shop sells it and it's pretty cheap. We bought a few for us and the rest make great gifts. Also got some other chocolates that make great gifts (to myself and others). Their packaging is beautiful, with many saying "Barcelona." Definitely beats any generic Barcelona gift. I was able to try the Cava chocolate and the Orange one. They were both amazing. With Cava, you could taste liqour but I was pretty surprise how good the orange one was. This place was so good, we came a few times. On one of our trips, we also had a chocolate cake (obviously). The portion was huge and it was delicious. Airy, light, but rich chocolate flavor. They said it was homemade. The shop/store itself it's a great place to come relax after a day of walking and sight seeing. It's located next to Casa Batllo and the building it is housed in (Casa Amatller) is beautiful in its own. It has this really cool flat facade with qaint windows and geometric designs. Or something like that. I am not an architect. But it is beautiful. It looks like they also have tours, though we always came in a bit late.
