After writing a 5-star review for the Flax & Kale Tallers location, I just feel like I'm gushing as I now review the F&K Passage location! Well all the "gushing" and praising is highly deserved! My husband and I were in Barcelona for a short 33 hours to attend an FC Barcelona match at Camp Nou, and thanks to Yelp, discovered Flax & Kale. After the Sunday night match, we dined at the Tallers location, and the next day we found our way here! It was a perfect stop on our walk from La Sagrada Familia to El Born! The feel-good vibes and delicious, healthy eats continued to flow into day 2 of our short visit, and at this F&K, they have their very own Kombucha Bar in the back that looks like a very interesting chemistry lab with neon lights. Overall such a beautiful, artsy space from the white pillars to the exposed brick walls, metal vents, and sleek wooden tables and accents! We tried a few menu items that were completely different than what we ordered the day before. Every single thing was tasty, fresh & had us questioning, "Is there any room in my belly to try something else on the menu?!" Oh yes, it's that good! This is my second Flax & Kale experience, and I must say it was better than the Tallers location. I think it comes down to personal preference - the Passage shop is much cozier, with a smaller space and warmer tones. As a party of four, we were seated in one of their booths, which can be completely private as they have sliding doors. I had a lovely view of fresh pizza being made, with the chefs assembling each pizza by hand (with love). For a Sunday afternoon, it was surprisingly not too busy. For the main, I ordered the salmon sushi sandwich. I loved the classic Japanese flavours presented in a non-traditional format. It wasn't super filling, so I opted for their toasted hazelnut ice cream, which came with a delicious combination of mangoes, grapes, and a cocoa cookie. Note that it was a grainier than ordinary ice cream, and the flavour was quite potent. Overall, we were very satisfied with our meals. Also super impressed that EVERYTHING is gluten-free. I didn't expect to find myself at a "flexitarian" restaurant that serves gluten-free and vegan-friendly food, but I'm so glad I did! This place has a slew of cold-pressed juices and kombucha in addition to teas, coffee, and wine. Normally, I wouldn't pare a kombucha with a hearty dinner, but I gave it a go and ordered the Symbiotic Passion kombucha with passion fruit, pineapple, and green tea. It was a subtle bubbly delight that accompanied well with my main, the jackfruit curry. The jackfruit curry was filling yet light, creamy and flavorful, full of delicious fresh vegetables, topped with coconut yogurt and served with a side of rice. I loved there choice of vegetables, including pea pods, squash, peanuts, shiitake mushrooms, and lotus root. The curry was so flavorful with interesting notes with every bite, as they kept a whole piece of cinnamon, kefir lime leaves, and sprigs of cilantro in the dish. Almost 4.5 stars for this health-conscious establishment. Great way to get nutrition in creative dishes, which are tasty to a degree. Still one of the better options for veggies, grains, and lean protein. The menu is vast and promotes clean-eating, which I appreciate. I enjoyed having olive oil on the side because (1) I like using olive oil as a condiment and (2) the dishes needed slightly more flavor. The Burmese Festival Salad was interesting and I was drawn to it because of the variety of ingredients and how the flavors complemented each other. The fermented celeriac (some sort of pickled vegetable) was potent and a nice touch to the salad. The My Vegan Japanese Girlfriend Bowl was the best bite of the meal. Comes with black rice, quinoa, 'bbq pulled pork' jackfruit, plant-based scrambled egg, and yakiniku sauce. The next favorite (very close second) was the eggplant pizza. I was looking for healthy options in Barcelona, and this place was the perfect spot. It's located in a passage connecting to my hotel and was super convenient for both grab-and-go and to sit down. They have a variety of pre-packaged juices, smoothies, and kombuchas along with interesting pastries (such as a miso ginger muffin!). I tried a lot of items on their menu and the stand-outs for me were the grilled guava and the jackfruit dumplings. The vibe is also super nice; it's a great place to relax or work on your own or to chat with friends. read more

We were looking for a great vegan/vegetarian place to eat and we found this lovely place. The ambiance was very relaxed although I thought I had just stepped in to a very expensive restaurant. The place was nicely decorated and the staff was friendly. We ordered the coconut yogurt appetizer with veggies and it was delicious. I got the Japanese girlfriend bowl and it was really filling and tasted great! Overall I loved the restaurant but and only giving it 4 stars because it was really expensive. For 3 people, drinks, entrees and 1 appetizer, we spent over 80 euros....so not your everyday kind of meal. We would definitely go back because the food was amazing! read more

We came here with great expectations (after all the positive reviews I read here). My husband was slightly overwhelmed by the dishes and decided on sticking to a pizza (noone can ruin pizza). The crsut was delicious, also the marinara, but the vegan cheese had a very weird and awful aftertaste, so strong that we could not eat the pizza (beside the crust). I had a vegan Japanese bowl. The rice tasted like rotten and also the vegan scrambled eggs were unenjoyable. I ate like 4 forks and gave pretty much everything back :( absolutely not edible. We had a lot of vegan food in L.A. which was absolutely crazy delicious, and that was what we expected here too, but unfortunately not! Probably will never eat there again. Sorry read more

Found this gem when walking around the city. Avocado toast is delicious, full of spice and flavor. A bit of paprika coupled with micro greens and mild vinegar really add flavor to the toast. Ordered marinated salmon on the side, which is a pleasant surprise as well. Salmon is fresh and not too salty. Royal egg Benedict is ok per my friend's review. We ended up here unexpectedly after a yoga class. We ordered two pizzas: The JB and the Melanzane, Kaniwa + Minced Kale Salad, a bottle of the house red, Two Textures chocolate cake and an order of fresh young coconut ice cream. I know, I know- in our defense, it was three of us (including the yoga instructor) AND we had just done a full hour of yoga . Back to the food- it was delicious! The pizzas were both cheesy and creamy. The vegan marscapone is DELICIOUS! While in Barcelona, we actually ate at three of the Teresa Carle location and this one was definitely the best! This was by far one of my favorites in Barcelona - both locations. Between the Michelin restaurants and Flax and Kale, I was in gluten free and diary free degustation heaven. As an occasional raw vegan, Flax and Kale was my jam!!! Even their organic sulfite free white wine was excellent at under $25 Euro a bottle. If anyone wants To bring Flax and Kale to the USA as a multi-site location, I'm interested in being a first round investors and major equity in the establishment. This store is easy to miss as it's located on the third floor of the H&M store. Although their website says their locations serve mostly plant based and some seafood, this one appeared to be 100% plant based. I came here a few times, and most of the food is premade daily so it's very convenient if you are on the go. Everything I tried was delicious, they have burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups, raw vegan snacks, and healthy pastries. I wish they had locations back in the states. They also sell juice and smoothies which can be made to order or you can buy it already bottled. read more

Hidden gem. Simple yet elegant Carrara marble decor tucked away on the upper level of H&M. Just the thing. Was craving veggies and juice, the salads were excellent. Their expresso and healthy beverage bar is next on my list of trying. read more

My friend and I couldn't stop coming here once we discovered it! Our first night we had a wonderful server named Carlos who was very sweet and bonded with my friend over their Disney tattoos. Don't be fooled by F&K's health-focus - everything is tasty as heck. We had the pizza with plant-based mascarpone - jb, I think - and it was SUPER tasty. The place sports an uber cool vibe. The problem is that the food doesn't live up to the hype. "My japanese girlfriend" was supposed to be Asian fare but didn't taste authentic. Their rice had hard bits in it. And the smoothie had a piece of broken plastic in it. The nice staff did comp us for the drink. All in all, I'd skip this restaurant and try a better place. read more
