Llom amb pernil and Catala (gluten free bread)

The sandwiches here were simple, tasty, fairly priced. My partner got gluten-free bread and was very happy. We ended up coming here twice, and I ordered the same thing both times (Llom amb pernil) since I enjoyed it so much. The service was very quick and extremely friendly. Everytime we walked by this place, the line was out the door and sometimes into the courtyard. There are a few tables inside, but its a very small place. I was happy to eat while walking.

Hamburger and chicken sandwiches at Conesa Entrapans

Conesa Entrapans is literally just a stone's throw away from the beautiful Barcelona Cathedral in the Gothic Quarters. The restaurant opens early and offers a wide assortment of interesting sandwiches. We found the long line outside but it proceeded quickly after each order. We ordered both the cheeseburger and chicken sandwiches, along with a side order of potatas bravas and cold pop for the hot day. The hot sandwiches were satisfyingly large and flavourful with plenty of meat. For about 4 euro each, this was great value and kept us full for our afternoon of walking and sightseeing.

June 27, 2019 Thursday - Noon for lunch 4 Adults and a teenager Atmosphere - 4 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - My first Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. A US TV show the features mostly restaurants in United States. Atmosphere - Tiny is in an understatement, and with a party of five, the places fills up quickly with just us. Timing is everything we were able to walk right up to the ordering station. Time we left there was a line, and most of the line is out the door and around the short corner. Food Drinks - Estrella, a local beer nothing too exciting. Lunch - All about their pressed sandwiches here. Lots of different sausages to choose from. The menu is in three languages, one being English. I had to have the Catalan sausage sandwich which they call Vigueta. The sausage also came with peppers and brava sauce. The crunch of the bread with snap of the sausage made for a great combination. Service - Two guys behind the counter helped this chaotic family in rather fast manner. We were in out in no time Future - Yes, the area is very touristy but this place hit the mark perfectly.

Català. Sausage, Gouda, caramelized onions, grilled peppers.

Great place to grab a quick bite. Fast friendly service - 3 guys cranking out a lot of dishes. Small seating area that turns over fast. Best sandwich I had in Spain.

Can't remember the exact sandwich I got but i would go back so many more times if I had the time!!!!! One of the best sandwich places in Barca!! Super cheap and sooo large and filling! Great quality as well. Take it to go or sit in the tiny seating area they have! A must if your in Barcelona and good location if you want a quick bite to eat on the go!

Guy Fieri brought us to this yummy sandwich joint and boy did it live up to the hype! I got the sandwich Guy had made I forgot the name but it had onions and some amazing sauceeee yummm and very cool seating area with nice tile flooring.

    Pollostro sandwich, gluten-free

Sandwiches. I'm not usually a sandwich person, most of all because of gluten-free bread not being very tasty at all. So I thought it was weird having a known gluten free sandwich restaurant advised. There was a huge queue for dinner but we still managed to get a sitting spot to eat. The eating line required us to quickly ask for our sandwich of choice and I barely managed to request mine gluten-free! We ended up eating the same, pollostro, a chicken sandwich. The sandwich is quite big, at least 6", maybe more. Both gluten free and normal bread looked the same, although the gluten free one came with a yellow sticker. The taste was sublime! That was without a doubt one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and I seriously considered not trying any other restaurant in Barcelona. There are multiple pros: you can eat it either sitting down or on the go; the price is super accessible; as a sandwich you can eat ir hot... Or you can do like I'll do tomorrow and eat it later on the flight! There are plenty of choices, gluten free or not, and it's really hard to choose cause most of them look delectable. All in all.. On of the best places in Barcelona for gluten free on the go sandwiches!

With Conesa having such great reviews, I decided to call in here while looking for some gluten free food in Barcelona, before I was to attend Barcelona versus Juventus at the Camp Nou. After a long walk getting here due to getting lost with my awful and non-existent Movistar signal, I finally managed to find it. This is mainly a takeout / hole in the wall cafe, and it is a tight squeeze in terms of the seating area. The wait for the food was a really long time, considering the nature of the place and even finding the menu was difficult as it meant connecting to wi-fi, which wouldn't connect and then getting onto the opening screen which had the menu on, which I feel is ridiculous. I ordered a sausage, cheese, pepper and onion meal, I can't remember the name but it just was really poor. I did order gluten free due to my dietary requirements, but even my friend complained of the same issue with it simply being dry, I ended up not eating my food as it just tasted dry and cheap, I didn't want to take any chances either after getting food poisoning during my first night in Barcelona. I also tried to use the toilets, they were really dirty and covered in urine, and they certainly weren't very nice for an eating establishment, and was more of a toilet at a football match, so I felt relieved I didn't end up eating my food then as I could have became ill if the state of the toilets were anything to go by. Due to the poor food quality, staff and toilet issue as well as other problems mentioned, I'm even struggling to warrant giving this place the minimum one star rating, as even that is too generous!

(3.5 stars) Gluten free sandwiches and a line of like 30 people. This is what attracted us to Conesa. Walking around the Gothic District our friends mentioned there was place with a long line at a tiny little restaurant. We were hungry so we figured why not, not really knowing what we were waiting for. The sandwiches look kind of like a flat bread and sub hybrid. And depending on what you order there are different breads that are paired. There are variety of different meat and veggie options for whatever you're feeling. It's best to just take your sandwich to go because it's tough finding anywhere to sit inside because it's so tiny. When you eat these, you can barely tell they're gluten free which is really nice. The pictures on the menu are slightly deceiving though because they looked more "stuffed" than in reality. Overall, the sandwiches are good but not amazing, the line moves pretty quickly, and it's just a convenient place to get some cheap gluten free food - though I wouldn't necessarily go back unless there was a short line.

So, this is a good place to get a sandwich for 4,80 euros, which right now isn't much more than 5.60$. They have a lot of choices. I got the tuna and olive one. Great condiment selection- huge pumps of mayo, ketchup, hot sauce and some aioli sauce. Also mustard vats, have to appreciate that. This is supposed to be like a historical place per the photos on the wall, opened in the 1920s. If you go, be aggressive as the Catalonian customers are not fond of tourists. They also have salads, which no one orders. They also have a lot of vegetarian selections. There is no Wi-Fi but the Wi-Fi network will allow you the explore the menu.

The sandwich was ok. Not enough meat to fill all the bread and a bit dry. Not worth waiting in line for.

Key thing to remember: this place is CASH ONLY, so come prepared. The workers (or maybe the owners) were super, super friendly and very welcoming from the moment we walked in. We decided to eat inside, and wow -- the portions were absolutely ginormous! I ordered the chicken plate, and hubby got the beef and chicken plate, and both were delicious. Each plate came loaded with rice, lentils, red cabbage, tomato salad, lettuce, avocado sauce, plus a spicy hot sauce on the side. We also ordered fries, and it even came with bread to scoop everything up -- such a satisfying meal. All this for 24€. Definitely a must-try if you're looking for something filling but still feels a bit lighter on the tummy while exploring Barcelona. Happy eats in Barcelona!

This is definitely a small, local, casual bar to grab a bocadillo and a drink or two. Service was friendly and fast, they checked in on us but mostly let us do our own thing. Everyone also spoke English, which made things easier for us. Foodwise, we got 2 different bocadillos to try along with the patatas bravas. I loved the iberico bocadillo and the other one as well (I forgot the name but it had country sausage, peppers, and onions). The bread was crisp but soft and did not hurt the roof of my mouth. The filling was flavorful and balanced. The patatas bravas were not the usual ones we were used to, they were herbed and not fried but were so good. We had hoped to return for a second meal here or for takeaway for our flight but unfortunately, timing did not work out. One of the first things you should get straight at Bar Fidel is that this is *not* a Spanish…read morebusiness; it's a Catalan one. The owner will hit you over the head with this fact. I know it's a big deal and I know people have bad days but this gentleman was in a mood if ever one was. On one hand, I was happy with the non-touristy, local experience I was getting. On the other one, I found myself longing for a touch of tourist consideration. Even though Catalan is the word of the day at Bar Fidel, you won't get (too many) bad looks by speaking in Spanish. Try to avoid speaking in English. Also, avoid ordering sangria. Not only is it not an option, it makes the owner not want to suffer fools and to complain about people coming to his city and wanting such 'pedestrian' libations. Get your wine and keep it moving. You're at a local's pub, so keep it simple: salad, sandwich, wine, and/or beer. These are your choices... and I had all four. Were I to come back, I would settle on a liquid diet. My crab salad had much too much mayonnaise (you know how I feel about mayonnaise) for my tastes and my salmon baguette - while an interesting mix of fish, dill and roquefort cheese - was, ultimately, too pedestrian for a dinner item (although as a lunch item and paired with a beer, it would have been a good fit). The onus was on me to do more research. I didn't. I thought I did but I didn't. My ill preparation, however, was compounded by the awkward atmosphere I felt from the owner. I always advocate going off the beaten path and trying to get a more local feel of a city. If I were to come back here, though, I would make sure I did it with a local... who spoke fluent Catalan.
