This contractor is currently not licensed insured or bonded. He cut into a load bearing steel header supporting a brick wall with no engineered plans or architect in an attempt to duct a hood-and then tried to make me pay extra for the labor to go around it. The header was visible during the bid and the hood was custom designed and built to his specs. I disputed charges and during the downtime he's held up my project and inspection he attempted to charge an illegal 35% compounded MONTHLY interest which came to an insane 11x the original amount in just 8 months. And the caveat is my project STILL is not finished. I tried to continue working with him in good faith. Elesio collected money from my general contractor recently for an entirely new bid he gave us for the same project to be completed- when we discovered he is not licensed insured or bonded anymore. Now he is refusing to give us the architectural plans or the fan we paid for.

He explained that some vents suck in and some push out - which is why I had thought some were clogged (they weren't pushing warm air out, but weren't supposed to). He was totally professional and kept everything tidy. For $385 I feel like I got a great deal! Especially knowing how many dead spiders were just laying under my vent covers. EEK!

We had used Dr. Carpet many years ago, and since our house is WAY off the beaten path, it's hard to find someone to come out for service. I could tell right away they had their act together. The dispatcher asked great questions like "can we find your house on a nav system", and "do you have cell service at your house". (Yes, and no.) Most people don't think to ask those questions, which can cause a lot of headaches. Also they called to confirm the night before--very thoughtful because I had completely forgotten! The technicians (Mike and Dean) were right on time, wearing masks and gloves, as well as shoe coverings. They worked around my home-office meeting schedule so I didn't have to worry about noise during critical parts where I needed to be speaking to my coworkers. I couldn't believe the stuff they found in my air ducts! (Pictured below, NOT including the dead mouse.) They also showed me pictures of the insides of my ducts, including a few areas that need replacing (they don't do that kind of work, but it's great to know, I would have never thought about that). And finally they made some suggestions about replacing my air filters in a few weeks. I appreciated that they never once tried to upsell me on anything. The total charge was exactly as quoted. Just save yourself some time and hassle and START with Melton's! Not only did I get what I needed but I got what I wanted and the products Melton's use are tried and true brands I recognized with good warranties AND Melton's had the best quote. Today, Jimmy and Frank showed up just after 8 AM and were here until roughly 6 PM. My furnace is located under the house so there's that but the accomplished a single day install. The old furnace was removed, the AC unit and the new furnace with all its required doodads for venting and such were installed. I think what sold me on Melton's was the no nonsense visit where I was given the options along with the pros and cons and a recommendation for what would best serve my wants and needs. Instead of multiple quotes, I just went with the single recommendation. Their bid was not the lowest, but during the time spent preparing the bid they really convinced me that they knew what they were doing and would not cut any corners.
