When in Outer Banks, you have to try Duck Donuts!Definitely check their hours because they may be limited -- this a store was only open on weekdays until 1 PM. We arrived an hour before closing time and they still had a bunch of options, but they were out of peanuts. One of the best parts about this place is that they make their donuts fresh, so you'll leave with a warm box. These are all cake donuts and they seem to all have the same base flavor, just with a bunch of different icing flavors and toppings. Some of the flavors were a bit too sweet, especially the fruity ones, but they were all fun to try. My favorites were coconut island bliss, peanut butter paradise, the boardwalk, and French toast!

Duck donuts are always a hit with our family and they never disappoint. The service is always friendly and fast. It is a great stop when visiting OBX.

I've been to Duck Donuts up north before, but this was our first one down in NC. We were not surprised how good the donuts were. They're so good fresh, so it's worth the extra couple of bucks. Since lines are long and it takes a long time to arrange for custom orders, they offered several prearranged boxes. The bacon maple one is amazing and is highly recommended! The Oreo one was also a bit hit with the kids. Definitely worth the wait and cost!

    When will they open?

Tried to go to one in Corolla and just got this sign.... I drove 14 hours to get a sign and no idea when they will open... use a pen and paper... cash... edit: the reply was nice but should have clearly stated the issue was the fryer! Back in Maine now....

Getting Duck Donuts is one of our family traditions when we vacation on the OBX. We ordered an assorted half dozen of their freshly made donuts. Though the service is slow and there is usually a line out the door, we understand that you cannot rush perfection. It is a bit steeply priced. All in all it is a good donut.

This was our first time trying Duck Donuts and I loved every minute of it. We were greeted by a super helpful employee who helped us with ordering since it was our first time there. We ended up ordering half a dozen donuts. We tried the maple bacon, vanilla with Oreo crumbles, glazed and vanilla with raspberry drizzle. We were impressed with the assembly line that they had going on as we watched our donuts being freshly made. We couldn't wait to dig in and I must say that first bite was mind blowing! I'm officially hooked. The donuts are cake battered style served warm with toppings of your choice. I can't say enough about this place. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try if you get the chance! We decided to make it a tradition to stop by while on vacation.

The line has been so long this week and thankfully on turnover day the wait wasn't too long. These made to order donuts are warm, delicious, and as sweet as I am! ;) you use the ordering form to create any combination you want, but I panicked and used the pre-made ones at the top of the form. The store only allows one person per party at a time, everyone is required to wear masks, and the workers wear gloves and masks. The workers have an assembly line and the donuts are fresh, cake-battered goodness. Try the blueberry and the maple bacon. You won't regret it! Unless you have a cavity....then you will.

    Iced coffee.

We had decided months before vacation we were going to Duck Donuts. And we went a couple times lol. They were soooo good. Each time we tried something different. I also had an iced coffee, I wish there were flavors for the coffee but it was still good. I got a little souvenir from there too.

Me and my family went here once about 2 years ago. Great experience, however this place is almost never open to the public.

World famous donuts! Gets busy during tourist/summer months so get there early. The maple bacon donuts are my family's favorite.

As you walk in you note the feel of it being a converted diner made to look like a country place. You grab your own menu, seat yourself, and walk up to the bar/register when ready to order. If the first time, you need a minute to get your bearings. Food ordered (3% fee is not using the cash "discount" FYI, pretty common around here and absurd given these OBX prices). Drinks are self serve. Some coke products and excellent tea. This was the end of breakfast around 10:30/11, so it was empty. Service was pretty quick. (they bring it to the table). I thought the breakfast pricing was fair. Shrimp and grits for $12, etc. Especially for the portion sizes. Two things I didn't care for. -The ceilling tiles were crazy dirty and stained and the flor light bulbs were uncovered. -The shrimp and grits needs a re-do. It's huge, with a base of grits, ladels of bacon gravy, and about 5 shrimp and cheddar cheese. It's more like a shrimp, grits, gravy, cheese casserole. I would have much rather had a base of grits, the gravy scooped in the middle with shrimp stuck in it, and topped with cheese. Even with all that you'd think there would be flavor. It was kind of bland minus the occasionally greasy/burnt bacon piece. Also, the shrimp were flavorful but over-cooked and tail on, which is traditional--but in the casserole were a pain in the butt to get the tail off/cut. I know they can do good flavors and plates. My spouse's chicken biscut...omg the hand-breaded chicken was fantastic! My son's baked apples were to die for. You Philly visitors will be happy to see scrapples on the menu - yuck. All in, I would repeat and stick to chicken and the chicken coop.

Fortunately, they had outdoor seating available and we were promptly seated. Our waitress was very knowledgeable, friendly, and answered any questions we had about the food. She told us she was Jamaican and that the food had a Caribbean flare in regard to taste. When the crab dip came out, we were pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was, and covered with a great crust of broiled cheese. The crab dip was below the cheese, and was a nice sized portion, and tasted excellent, with nice chunks of crab meat and good flavor. Our main course was a very generous portion and came out quickly. Our waitress was so attentive and made sure everything came out hot, correct, and in a reasonable amount of time. As you can see in the photos, the food looked delicious and we were NOT disappointed when we got to dig in. The crab cakes were loaded with chunks of crab and little filling. The salad was cold and crisp, and complimented the crab cake nicely. The burrata cheese deliciously dressed the penne ala vodka and made a symphony of flavor on the tongue. We were too full to try dessert, but will definitely be back to try their other dishes! Highly recommended!!
