That oversized menu is loaded with oversized variety too and will proudly hold its own against any Long Island or New Jersey diner's menu. Sides, Deluxe Burgers, Greek & Italian Specialties, steaks, seafood, breakfasts, and desserts. I saw an interesting side dish among their listings of fries, rings, and potato salad. So, if you want a side order of a pint of Green Goddess, well.. you're in luck for just $9. I had a Crock O' Chili (hold the cheese) served with tortilla chips for $8.50 and a Tossed Salad with honey mustard dressing for $8. That's pretty decent pricing for Fairfield County. She asks if I want pecans on the side. I said no and asked if she could just bring a short stack of banana pecan since my wife had been picking at them as we tried to get the waitress' attention. I figured I'll just sort it out at the register. I go to pay and both orders of pancakes are on the tab. I explain to the cash register lady what happened. She engages in a back and forth with the waitress in Spanish and decides she's going to stick me with the bill for both orders. I literally tried to get the waitresses attention for ten minutes. I tried to explain the situation to her. I tried explaining to the register lady. My wife purposely didn't eat the full stack of banana-only pancakes because we didn't want to be those people who looked like we were trying to be chooches. I ordered Roast Beef Au Jus, with mashed potatoes and apple sauce. They don't serve rolls, salad or anything extra, and when the roast beef arrived, it was slices of DARK GRAY BROWN with NO pink, floating in a cup of over salted "au jus" and was inedible! I tried to eat the meat, gave my husband a piece, he said, "don't eat that!" When I told the server, she brought over a guy who I assume was the owner or manager. I told him the meat was not fresh, tasted old and, instead of apologizing, he started BULLYING ME INSISTING HE WOULD CHARGE FOR EVERYTHING BUT THE BEEF, and LOUDLY kept repeating the meat was "fine" and that I "just didn't like it!" Well, NO SIR, yes, the MEAT WAS HORRIBLE and he kept arguing and insisted "is it fair?" to charge me for the potatoes, applesauce and salad. GUESS WHAT? He charged $7.25 for a side of mashed potatoes, $4.50 for a tiny dish of applesauce, and $4.95 for the salad! The salad was bagged mixed lettuce which was thrown into a bowl, bits of wet spinach and wilted lettuce mixed up, it was just AWFUL! So, my "dinner" cost $16.70 with no meat! Now, Galaxy Diner WAS one of our favorite diners but NOT ANY MORE! Unless that owner changes his attitude and cleans up the diner, business will continue to shrink! And IT HAS shrunk! Friendly and super attentive. PRICE - for lunch it was reasonable. One appetizer, a wrap, an entree and 2 sodas came to $55 before tip. OVERALL - this is mixed for me.
