I used to go to the Duchess Cookies location in Penn station when I was working in the city but was thrilled to hear that they were opening a location in Plainview. Traveled from Manhattan to try these cookies as I heard they were special. They did not disappoint. Nice combination of the size and quality of Levain with innovative, fun flavors that will please adults and kids alike. The store has a cozy feel and the staff were super nice. My son loved posing in front of the Instawall. If you happen to have any leftover by the time you get home (good luck) warm them up in the microwave with a cool glass of milk. Me and some work colleagues accidentally walked a mile to the factory instead of the actual cookie store on accident. instead of turning us around the owner came out, gave us a tour of the factory and gave us cookies and a story about how they got started. My mother and I (who are both very sweet toothed) stopped in after reading nice reviews. The shop itself is inviting and friendly, nice decor, bright and clean. The staff were all friendly and as it turns out, sweeter than the cookies. On that note...... We tried 3 cookies - the galaxy coconut, the apple pie, and the churro Nutella. At about $5 per cookie, we expected a lot. What we unfortunately received was very underwhelming and undercooked. All three cookies lacked in flavor. If you can imagine the taste of unsalted play doh, this comes close. The dough seemed undercooked (which is fine if the taste is there), but the flavor was bland and left a very artificial aftertaste, especially the coconut one. We're both not picky when it comes to cookies, though cheap supermarket cookies would smoke these out. If you're in the mood for a cookie fix, I would strongly recommend you go elsewhere either for something cheaper, or something as costly but that delivers in flavor and satisfaction. We had to try out of curiosity, and I don't regret it because we would've always wondered, but we will certainly never go back. Without dramatic effect and exaggeration, these are the worst cookies we have eaten thus far. read more

I went in the day of the Grand Opening and couldn't wait to try the cookies here. The selection was excellent. I ordered two of each, one for my family, one for friends that came for the ride; at that point, there were around seven different flavors. Overall, my order came to around $70; certainly not cheap, but I don't begrudge them for it. I just wonder if people will continue to pay $4+ per cookie and make big orders considering the price, although to be fair, they're very big, heavy and filling. Overall, I can't say that there was one cookie that we loved. In fact, my two girls, who love sweets, didn't really love any of them. The chocolate chip was my favorite, all others were so-so. The Cookie Monster one was especially disappointing and has way less flavor than I would have expected. Overall, I'd probably go back here and there because I like the concept, and it's hard to turn down a warm, fat cookie, not to mention that there's not much competition in the area, but certainly not my favorite place and I'm hoping they get better over time. read more

I feel like I hit the jackpot finding this place and the best part is it's literally 5 mins from my home. I never heard of this place but came across it going to the local shopping center in my neighborhood. I decided to walk in (I'm so happy I did) and give them a try. Genuinely unimpressed. I was going to rate Duchess as a 2 (MAYBE 3 at a stretch, but that would be a HUGE stretch) but then I remembered just how god damn much it cost to purchase these cookies and the terrible state that they shipped in. For the price, the VERY long time they took to arrive, and the awful packing/treatment of the product from their end? No, that takes away what little enjoyment these cookies could have had. As for the cookies themselves? Bland. Incredibly bland. I ordered six cookies, all very different flavours in a wide variety, and every single one tasted the exact same. Bland, only very vaguely "sweet" in an artificial way, and then finishing with an incredibly sickly aftertaste. The cookies were very small for what you pay (compare them to YVR Cookies and the difference in quality and size is laughable) and every single one was oily and greasy just to top it all off. The Red Velvet cookie with white chocolate chips literally had two chocolate chips in it. The Unicorn cookie, Churro cookie, and Cookie Monster cookie all tasted the exact same - like lightly sugared play doh. They have to be using the same basic, tasteless cookie dough for every cookie and just splashing some food colouring in, because if you blindfolded me and made me taste test them all I swear I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between any of them. The only flavour to be found was in the cookies that had a stuffed filling, and even then the dulce de leche in the Churro cookie was the only filling that tasted good. The cheesecake filling and strawberry filling tasted like chemicals (like childrens cough syrup) and had the consistency of slime. Very disappointed. It's just a cookie so I usually wouldn't care, but for the ridiculously high price, awful delivery conditions, and incredibly long shipping time? All for some cookies that are worse than what I could buy at Subway? No thanks. Not going to waste my money on these again, so I hope no one else does either. read more

The cookies here are phenomenal! When you buy them here, they are warmed which makes them amazing. If you get them via mail order, heat them in the oven instead of the microwave. The microwave doesn't bring out the full flavor like an oven or toaster oven does. read more

My BFF went down my list---8 cookies that I chose from the website AND only the Cookie Monster cookie was available. There was no selection. He brought home 2 churro, 1 birthday confetti, 1 cookie monster and 1 chocolate chip. Sounds okay but I was so disappointed. I am a cookie fanatic, I have probably tried over 100 different cookies, and Duchess blew away any cookie I have ever had!!! The cookies are stuffed with flavor and they melt in your mouth. After passing this place many times and working not too far- I finally caved. I've been to quite a few cookie places (top cookie places both on long island and the city) and I have to say- these were terrible. I don't understand the hype- maybe the pictures of the "cool color and cookie dough in the middle?" That's really all there is to this place. Close your eyes, and you won't know what you're putting in your mouth. Absolutely no flavor and very commercial tasting. In fact, my friend and co workers were going to go because we all had been looking at Instagram pics of the cookies and were salivating from them, but I saved them all the trip. I got the chocolate chip and the Cookie Monster (blue sugar cookie with cookie dough inside) and they both literally tasted the same. Both costs me around $10 and I truly don't understand how they're able to get away with charging these prices for Plainview location and for the taste of the cookies alone.
