Surprised to see such low reviews at this location. Its a smaller and older location so don't expect anything fancy. But if you are hunger for DA BEST Vietnamese sandwichhes and don't want to drive to the busy San Jose locations, this is the place. Other snacks (banh tieu, xoi cuc...) were also fresh and yummy. And the cashier/owner was sweet and friendly. Even though it was super busy, she had a beautiful smile on your face and was very nice to all of the customers. I wish they take credit card so I can buy everything in the store!! Duc Huong should seriously open another location close to Danville area. We have tried pretty much every Vietnamese cafe/restaurant around our area and so far, Duc Huong still kicks a$$ when it comes to sandwiches... My husband routed to this Duc Huong, but this location seems to be different from the others. Duc Huong is known for their garlic bread option, but this location doesn't do it. I didn't think much of it and ended up ordering two banh mi sandwiches, pork belly and lemongrass pork. It came out to be $18. I liked the lemongrass pork more because it was saucier/more flavorful. I thought the pork belly was just okay. We always get our sandwiches without cilantro and jalapeños. Although there weren't any in our sandwiches, you still taste a slight kick from the jalapeños from the pickled veggies (assuming they chop all their veggies on the same board). That's totally fine for me but not so much for my husband, who gets discomfort from even the smallest hint of spicy. Yeah, I got lost and took the scenic route once again. I ordered the cold cut combo. They took my cash. A few minutes later, I drove the banh mi back to the hotel. The bread was good. The cold cuts were exceptional. The meats just seemed superior to the ones I normally get in the OC. If they put more pate on it, it would've been a great sandwich for my taste. The banh mi was good. Visited this Duc Huong for the first time. Unknowingly passed by this place to eat at Pho Kim Long. The parking came get challenging during peak hours. There is another lot across the street. This place has not seating, so it's a grab and go place. CASH ONLY. The service is friendly, though limited English. They offer other Vietnamese prepared lunches, like rice noodle rolls, desserts, etc. *#1 Combination: cold cuts, pate, pickled daikon/carrots, cucumber, cilantro, & jalapeño (3.5/5). I had the mini bahn mi a few weeks ago from another location and it was SO good, turns out there's one 5 mins away from me. This time I ordered the large BBQ Pork and everything about it was DELICIOUS -- except -- 1/4 of the Bahn Mi was a CUCUMBER! DoorDash'd here a few times now. The banh mi toast up nicely the next day, so I always order 2 smalls (wrap in foil, air fry, "keep warm" setting, 10 minutes... longer depending on how toasty you want it). I usually get grilled pork or chicken and BBQ pork. Tried the roast pork today and it is my new favorite. The flavor is spot on. The chicken curry is also very tasty. I've only ever had Duc Huong to-go but it is definitely one of the best banh mi's I have had in the Bay Area! My favorite is the cold cut combo with the garlic bread! I highly recommend the garlic bread surcharge since it gives the bread an extra kick of flavor when eating the sandwich. The ambiance is generic from any other type of banh mi restaurant, but be prepared to wait as it does get pack and I had to wait about 30 minutes to get my order. The cashier didn't speak English, which is fine, no problem. I showed and pointed to the items we wanted written IN VIETNAMESE. She could barely see (wasn't wearing her glasses and was squinting like crazy), and by the way she was looking at the words, I question if she could even read, seriously. Terribly frustrating, to say the least. But even worse than that, they got the order wrong! The "chicken and avocado" didn't have any avocado. The other sandwiches were just ok. I had some work business to take care of in the area and decided to stop by and get lunch for me and my Darling. I always go for the large BBQ Pork sandwiches. The BBQ Pork they add is TOP TIER! I've had other BBQ Pork sandwiches at other mom & pop shops, but they usually come out kinda dry and stale. Not at Duc Huong, their BBQ pork is so soft and it LITERALLY melts in your mouth, and the best part is that they give you pieces with a little bit of fat on it, which basically just ties everything together. My Darling took a few bites and was hooked! We definitely need to go to the other Duc Huong location because they have garlic bread...also, the large sized bánh mì is $8, which I honestly think is completely worth it. Also, don't forget a can of sửa đâu nành to wash it all down! And make sure to bring cash! This location is a small corner shop in the same plaza as the famous Pho Kim Long. I recommend stopping by during the morning or after the lunch rush because parking can be difficult. I stopped by around 11:30am on a weekday and there were already a handful of people in and out of the shop. I ordered 2 bbq pork bahn mis $8.50 each, made fresh. Note: they are cash only!! I didn't know and luckily had some change but was still a dollar short. The lady at the front counter was so nice, telling me not to worry and still gave me my order. I was so thankful! And now I can see why Duc Huong is so popular: the baguette was so fresh and stayed intact when holding all the inside ingredients. There was a good amount of sauce and veggies and the bbq pork was incredibly soft and flavorful. One of the best quality bahn mis I've had for a great price. (CASH ONLY) The goat for fresh, crisp baguettes to use in homemade banh mi. It's located next to a popular restaurant so the plaza might be full. But since I go in the early mornings just to pick up some baguettes to-go, it's not that busy. I just park in the 30 min pickup spot and then go. The store is small(which is the reason some of the reviews are rated low) but I feel it was intended to be a quick pick up spot, not a cafe. It serves its purpose to the community. The baguette bags get sold out really fast (you can imagine what this says about them). By noon, its usually definitely sold out (or there might be a few bags left if you're lucky), so prepare to come early if you wanted just the baguette. The half baguettes come in a bag of 6, which makes it easy to make individual sandwiches. Bring them home, heat them in the oven for a little bit, and you get a crisp crust, fluffy interior that isn't jarringly sharp nor crumbly like typical baguettes. Today I messed up because I grabbed two bags of half baguettes and there's 6 in one and 4 in the other. I don't know if the 4 bag is special/different in some way or if I just picked up a mistake bag on accident. Best banh mi ever! I got into banh mi's recently and Duc Huong is the best place I've tried yet. I don't eat meat so I get their vegetarian sandwich, the vegan meat seitan they put in the sandwich is so yummy. They add veggies and these very umami mushrooms. I'm obsessed. The bread is fresh baked and the perfect texture. When I went in, the staff was very nice but they only take cash so I had to just go back home and DoorDash it because I didn't have cash.
