I took my car to Dubwerx to diagnose the convertible top making a noise, diagnose the drivers door proximity not working, and to get an oil change. Oil change -- $156.16 They couldn't diagnose the convertible top noise, and recommended taking it to the dealership. -- N/C Drivers door proximity sensor PARTS $324.49 The door sensor was ordered and we scheduled another time to bring it in. The service advisor, Robby, had a few recommendations that he called me about before my next appointment. Transmission fluid, brake fluid, spark plugs, and crankcase vent valve. Robby told me he only recommended the trans fluid and spark plugs. The other fluids were recommendations and could wait. I agreed. On my second visit they were supposed to install the sun visor, install the door sensor, replace the spark plugs, and service the transmission. I dropped my car off at 7:30am. At 5pm when I went to pick my car up, it wasn't ready. At first it was "sorry" come back tomorrow. Then they offered me a loaner. But I was in a push for time, so I declined and told them I would return the next day. I have an alarm system on my car. It alerted me it had been started and shut off at around 8PM that night. I could only assume the technician was working late on it. So I stopped by around 2PM the next day and gave the technician $200 as a tip to show my appreciation for his extra help. When I picked the car up I signed a paper, paid with my card, and got my keys and left. After I left I looked at the receipt. I thought the price was higher than quoted, and it was... by $700+. They did the brake fluid and crankcase vent valve without my approval. I called and asked what the issue was and was told they would check their phone logs and get back to me because they record the phone calls. 2 weeks later and no response. So I text them and get told I approved the repairs AFTER they were done when I signed the receipt. That signature, according to them, is proof that I approved the repairs. NO! That's proof that I paid for the repairs. I wanted to find a place to get my Audi repaired and maintained and love supporting small shops. I wanted to give them a chance to make me a happy customer. Instead I get told "I am having a hard time understanding how this would be any different than going to a pizza place, ordering a 3 topping pizza, paying for it, signing the receipt, eating it, and then returning saying you actually only wanted one topping." read more

I gave dubwerx another shot. I wish I hadn't. There will not be next time. The last time I went in they didn't fix the problem I initially brought the car in for. But they owned the mistake and eventually fixed the problem. I was also told they would take care of me the next time I brought my vehicle in. I know Audi's are a special type of over engineered, but I am pretty sure I got screwed. The car started to go into shut down mode, which I was told was actually a water pump issue. $2,500 dollars later I have a new water pump and the car works. I would have chalked it up expensive car, but my friend had the same issue two weeks later. He was told by dubwerx that it was the water pump same as me. He's a little brighter than me though so he took it to another mechanic. Long and short is $700 bucks later his car works. They didn't remember anything about the last time I was in either and their promise to "take care of me" on the next time I was in the shop. Requested service for my R32 as it was stated during a check up a VW dealer that the thermostat housing was leaking. Diagnosis at Dubwerx confirmed a small leak. Housing, thermostat, charge pipe and all required gaskets weee replaced within one day and the car was returned promptly. Total for work was well below the VW dealer estimate and I couldn't be more happy. Part cost was very reasonable. Car was cleaned and they even added a bottle of water and a cookie upon pick up. I was recommended to this place but after today, I would avoid this place if possible. Stated $180 to diagnose which included degreasing the engine. Called me mid afternoon to tell me that degreasing the engine and additional diagnosis is $340 so over $500 to diagnose? Furthermore, they agreed to degrease for the $180 without additional diagnosis. I get the car back, and car is completely dry and nothing was cleaned or degreased. They also quoted over $3000 for replacing CV axles.. All of their parts are double or triple of what they cost to buy online, OE. For example AC compressor, $350 OE on FCP euro. They were trying to charge $700 for the same part alone. -update to owners reply below: I talked with Liam this afternoon after you guys had looked at the car and we had agreed to degrease the engine and not complete any additional work at this time. You guys said you will complete the degrease and said would call me in a couple hours when done. I also had requested pictures of the leak of which your shop agreed to take so I have for my records, also did not receive that. Also, if you look at the text - "clean up" was referencing the degreasing which was never done so I am not sure what your "detail guy" was completing exactly. If you wanted to elaborate, I'd be curious. I am never the type to post reviews, but this is not the care I expected to receive. Had a DEF issue with my Audi. Dash message went from nothing to 50 miles to empty with no check engine light. Dubwerx charged me over $1000 to replace a screw cap on my DEF tank and plug in a disconnected wire right next to it. About 20 minutes total work because I know what's involved. Just remove the right rear wheel well and it's all right there. Easy access. A few days later the same tire below that DEF tank has white crystallization on it while the other 3 are clean. Took it back because it's obviously still leaking and the dash suddenly reads "ad blue 10 miles to empty" without any previous warning. This time I am told now I needed 2 NOX sensors for a total of $1500. The check engine light was not on the first time I took it in, but came on after they "fixed it". They said the DEF is not leaking and it could be from salt on the road. I said only on one tire?? Impossible. He said I can pay another $1500 and get 2 little sensors fixed if I want them to move forward but cannot guarantee that is the problem. $1500 for 2 easy access sensors is rediculious. I told them I had just replaced both NOX sensors less than a month ago and that is not why the DEF light suddenly came on. I also told them I have had the car for 5 years and have never had the DEF read 10 miles to empty without prior countdown or notice until now and the NOX sensors are not reason for that coming up. But they still insist on either charging me $1500 for 2 sensors that will not fix the original problem or another $180 diagnostic fee to not address the problem I originally brought it in for. The fact that I already paid a diagnostic less than a week prior makes it worse. I asked to talk to the owner. The manager gave me his email. I emailed and asked for him to call me and this was his reply 2 days later: "I spoke with Liam, he explained what has happened so far. If you have something specific to ask you can reply all and email us, I'm happy to listen. Otherwise, Liam is the manager at Dubwerx and makes all decisions related to vehicle service." The owner refused to even call me to hear what I have to say and only considered his employees version. WOW! He couldn't even take 5 minutes to call a customer who has just spent over $1000 at his business just a few days ago. Must be making too much money to care about retaining a customer. Awhile back I posted that our Jetta had finally crossed the 100,000 mile mark. It was at that time that I was alerted to a piece of maintenance that we had neglected to have done, replacing the timing belt. I believe it is recommended to be replaced at 60-100k, so we were well overdue. After talking it over with my dad, it was decided that replacing the belt was more work than we wanted to take on ourselves (with him doing the work and me mostly supervising). So I made a few calls to area service shops and even a dealership to get quotes. A couple of places, the dealership included, gave me a roughly $750 to $800 quote for the work (replacing belt and tensioner along with water pump, serpentine belt, and replacing the coolant). The last place I called, Dubwerx, wanted to see the car before providing a quote. So I drove the car down to them a couple of Fridays ago for them to take a look at it. After an hour or so inspection I was given their price for the same replacement service the other guys offered, but their price was only $670. Since they work only on Volkswagen and Audi cars, I guess they are able to perform the job quicker than others and do it at a lower cost. My decision was made immediately and I scheduled an appointment to have the replacement done. We dropped the car off to them last Wednesday evening so they would have it first thing Thursday morning. About 4pm on Thursday I got a call from the service director telling me that it would be done and ready for pickup before their 5:30 closing. I asked if I could leave it again overnight and pick it up on Friday morning, which was not an issue. The car was running great (just as it was) after picking it up the next day. I bought my 2001 Audi in 2006 and was slightly despondent to learn my usual garage - Mount Healthy Auto Repair, where my many of my family and friends had gone for more than a decade and love - did not service my make of car. After using another "foreign car repair" shop that just happened to be a short drive away from Dubwerx and being somewhat disappointed, a friend recommended Ryan Clo and his team. And I could not have been happier - or luckier. From the get-go, Ryan and his ever-increasing staff have consistently and patiently explained what was wrong with my car in terms this non-mechanic could easily understand. Each time, I was given options, explained with painstaking detail the issue or issues so I understand what was wrong with my car this time. Plus, they took the time to let me know what my car would need tuned-up, touched up or repaired to prevent further problems or more-costly work in the future - carefully explaining the benefits and costs of each potential repair. They have instilled confidence and educated me on the nuances of owning a fine German automobile that has kept this car running now with more than 170,000 miles. Together, we are prepping to keep it running, with relatively minimal investment, for another 50,000 miles or more. That makes me happy. But there's more: Numerous times, whether it was because I called or was nearby, I've stopped in or called and had a question answered about a pesky, albeit not major, issue with the car (like a door not closing smoothly). And when I was there in person, the Dubwerx staff have stopped what they were doing to grease a door, or answer the question, fill up my windshield washer reservoir, change a lightbulb, fill up a low tire - and more. I owned a Subaru previously that was totaled in an accident. Seeking out another all-wheel drive vehicle and the difficulty in finding another used Subaru to replace the Forrester I loved, I wound up with a good-looking Audi and a problem - where to get it serviced. Now, my next car will likely be another Audi or a Volkswagon, just so I can drive clear out of my way to have it serviced by a crew that I respect for their passion, intelligence, excellent and reasonably-priced service. I've used this shop twice now for some moderate to major diagnosis and repair on my Audi. I've dealt directly with Ryan and Doug and both are very knowledgeable and thorough about Volkswagen and Audi repair and diagnosis. They are completely upfront and honest and explain exactly what is happening and what the options are. I've never had the feeling that they were trying to tack on extra repairs or costs, in fact they have often prioritized repairs that could use attention, but gave honest opinions on what is most urgent and what can wait if it needs to. Their extra attention and thorough care recently saved my car from very costly repairs by pinpointing a problem that could have been written off as something else more costly. My experience with them has been better than other Audi/VW specific repair shop experiences I have had and also less expensive. I will preface this review with the fact that I am not a mechanic, but I do like to perform basic maintenance on my car like oil changes, filter changes, and other small jobs. Whenever I need extensive work done I like taking my car to Dubwerx because I feel that they have competent mechanics and a friendly staff. They are more than happy to talk technical with me which I appreciate. I have worked with Evan for the most part and he has always been straightforward with his recommendations to a point that I don't feel he was overselling me on anything I didn't need. I trust their mechanics and anytime I have left there I feel that my car has been in good hands with mechanics who really know their stuff. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars is because of a minor gripe, which I would only take a half star away if I could. Out of the few times I've taken my car there, a couple of times I had low tire pressure going in. Then after my service was complete the tire pressure is still low when I pick my car up. The first time I went back in and they fixed it for me, but the 2nd time I was running late for a meeting so didn't have time to go back and get my tire pressure refilled. I feel that this should be standard with any service being done as the same would be if you took your car to valvoline for a $50 oil change. Overall though I am completely satisfied with them and will return in the future. If you drive a VW or Audi I would highly recommend their shop. read more

[2012 Audi A5 owner] Guess I'd never go back to dealer again. Dubwerx did great job on repairing my turbo actuator rod rattling. Saved great amount of $$ for me while dealer quote me $1600 to replace the whole turbocharger assembly(HOWEVER, the turbocharger itself is still in great condition). Dubwerx did it only for $87(parts). Also, I did APR muffler delete as well. Had to mention, Adrian and Evan are super friendly and knowledgeable. Good to meet them. I was driving to the airport to pick up family when I missed the exit so I got off at the nearest one to double back. I pulled in to the nearest place to turn around when my car stalled and broke down. I have a 2004 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro. I could not get the car to crank or fire.There was no response when I turned the key. I already had an appointment with a different company to get a price quote on an exhaust leak from my flex pipe so conveniently the car was towed there. The next day I was told that my timing belt had failed and the first thing that came to mind was "no way, that's not possible, I had my timing belt replaced by Dubwerx". I was shocked. They told me the belt looked very old and worn and that they would love to do the repair for me and would cover 'everything' for $2000 dollars. I said I have a warranty for the timing belt and felt pretty confident about it although I was very worried at the time. Still in disbelief that the problem was the timing belt. I've never had a timing belt break on me before but I've heard about how extensive the damage can be and how expensive it usually is to fix. I was very worried. The timing belt was replaced about 38,000 miles ago, less than 2 years, so it made no sense why it would fail. I contacted Dubwerx and they arranged to have my car (sharky) towed to their garage. They confirmed the timing belt had failed but there was nothing unusual that could have caused the damage other than the timing belt itself being faulty, which was really unusual. They had never seen a case like this before and still are not sure what the problem was. They then proceeded to repair everything under warranty, replaced my cylinder head with a re-manufactured one and a new timing belt job. This got my car running again, and aside from my really loud exhaust everything seemed fine. I went ahead and had the exhaust repaired there because I wanted it to be be smooth and quiet like I expected it to be after all the work that had been put in. They kept the car for over a week. I was excited to get it back. The car ran great ... and I mean really great except for some sounds and vibrations I might be overly sensitive about. But not too far down the road I noticed the check engine light. I Had the code read at O'Reilly Auto, something about the camchain tensioner being in default position, not actuating. It was Friday and everyone had left for the weekend. This had seriously rained on my parade. Took the car back first thing Monday and had the engine desludged based on the crew's diagnostics. This is something I would have had to do eventually as it's notorious for the 1.8t engine. This got rid of the check engine light and was overall better for the car because it was done early. February 2018 was another trip to Dubwerx. This time at the new facility on Madison Rd. Wanted to have a bit of work done to my car. Before agreeing to the work to be done, I was in contact with Evan, whom I've come to rely on for advise on how to proceed with reaching my intended goal. As usual, He gave me what I was looking for, answering my technical questions, and helping me to clearly see the long view of my project. When I felt comfortable, we set up a time for the work, and it proceeded and concluded within the time frame Evan gave me. Again I am happy to have returned to Dubwerx to have my car looked after. The end result has exceeded my expectations. Dubwerx, through Evan, was instrumental in helping me sort out the work I planned to have done. I just went back again for some minor work and was completely happy as usual with their service. The guys, especially Adrian do a great job of explaining the work. They're about to open a new expansion with added capacity as well. If you have a VW or Audi this is a really great place for good prices and service. read more

I live about an hour north in the Dayton suburbs with a couple of service shop options, but none that came too highly recommended. Then I found Dubwerx. Even after working a long 12 hour night rotation, I showed up early to an appointment and was out the door in 3.5 hours for numerous maintenance. I planned poorly, and was in the lobby for at least 2 hours and never felt like the annoying, hovering customer. I was offered a couple options for killing time and the staff were accommodating in all respects. The cost of service was cheaper than the quote from one Audi dealer who took forever to reach out to me regarding an online service request. (Over a week) The cost savings was an additional perk, and what I was quoted was what I paid -- no hidden fees. On a closing note, all service records were furnished to me from a northern Florida Audi when buying my S5. The staff never once tried to upsell me any service, nor did they fabricate additional work that should be done. In past experiences, too many shops attempt to generate profits dishonestly. Needless to say, the integrity & professionalism of the staff paired with flexible and reliable work will have me returning for any future services. read more

Evan and Adrian have been a great help. Their service is top notch! We recently took our 2013 Beetle there and they did a great job! Even gave me a free loaner car which was a major perk. Upon pick up they gave me a few things that they found that they would recommend but nothing out of the ordinary with the age and mileage of the car. A couple weeks after we took the car there, the battery started to die and Evan and the Dubwerx team stayed late to make sure my mom could make it there during the evening rush hour to get her new battery installed/programmed. Most stores would probably have said sorry we're closed but they stayed open. They're an amazing group of talented individuals that love VW's as much as we do.
