Dubost Winery is a very special, family owned winery. They have been stewards of the land there for over a century. It's a really beautiful and peaceful place to visit. And the wine is fantastic! We have been wine members for over 15 years and it only gets better. The family is wonderful! Their staff is the best, with a big shout out to CINDY! She's always so welcoming, knowledgeable and together! Their wood fired pizzas (when available) are delicious. As well as their other food selections. And they sell olive oil too! The miss and I were looking for a winery to visit on a day trip to SLO. We were passing by Paso Robles and remembered that Destination Wedding was filmed at a winery in the area! Even though we didn't get to see Keanu and Winona, this family-owned winery was still a fun visit! They had great wines to taste, tons of history, and delectable wood fired pizza. The owners were incredibly friendly, told us a few stories from the filming, and sold me on a bottle of Grenache Blanc - I normally don't drink white so that is saying something! With a belly full of pizza I carried my wife up the vineyard hill. As I reached the top we gazed into each other's eyes and she whispered to me.... "that was the slowest I have ever been carried." Great time wine tasting for my Mom's birthday! They have a lot of really good blends. Slurp slurp. I felt safe given we're in the midst of the pandemic- they take the masking and social distancing thing really seriously, and I appreciate it! Love Dubost Winery and today's experience did not disappoint. We chose tasting #2 and #3 and shared. I think my favorite wines were the 2019 Vingence and the 2019 Auguste. We also ordered their wood fired pizza and charcuterie, BOTH AMAZING! Kate is the perfect hostess and really made our afternoon. My boyfriend and I came here on Sunday and we had the best time! His dad has been a member for years and we were so thrilled that Katie knew his name immediately!! We both got a tasting flight and shared the cheese plate and beet pizza which was amazing. The set-up is beautiful and completely COVID-safe. There was a mix-up. I'd scheduled a 1:00 Tasting via email with Kate. That didn't get communicated to Vanessa; and they are not open for tastings on Fridays at this time. Vanessa, the daughter-in-law, dropped what she was doing, prepared a charcuterie for me (I had planned to have lunch here) and gave us a private tasting. Vanessa is phenomenal! We were originally introduced to Dubost 11 years ago when we enjoyed their Homestead Red during Happy Hour at a Paso Robles B&B, High Ridge Manor. The Homestead Red is an affordable red blend. We didn't taste that during this visit. Instead, the wines we were poured were all very expensive. We bought six bottles and spent $400! Wine prices throughout the area have escalated. After all, they had five consecutive years of drought. The drought was finally over and wineries thought they could start to recover when BAM! the pandemic hit. With pandemic protocols still in place, there is yet another drought. My husband and I have gotten over the sticker shock at $30 - $40 bottles of wine, but were surprised to learn that the Dubost wines we liked (including a fabulous Carmenere) were $65 and $75! I will return. The setting is peaceful, bucolic. When they do serve food, the food is excellent. It's a family owned / family run business so you won't get better customer service anywhere. It IS worth the long drive. But next time, I intend to taste Homestead Red. Hopefully, that is still affordable and we can take home a case of wine that we aren't hesitant to open. read more

This was the first winery we visited in Paso Robles. Family owned since the latter part of the 1800. We felt like we were visiting family, Kate was very sweet and super attentive. Small winery, BIG hospitality. Kate Dubost explained to us the story of the winery and the special events they used to have through the year before COVID. We tried one of their delicious pizzas "House Pepperoni". Kate makes the dough for the pizza and the grilled onions makes the pizza taste even better! Kate's husband made goat cheese with prosciutto bites that were a delight. Kate is a wonderful cook, she even gave me a recipe to make my own balsamic drizzle with red wine. 2018 Carmenere was one of my favorite red wines at Dubost, a blend of 80% Carmenere and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. read more

Lovely little place just off the road, definitely a hidden gem! Our guide was really nice and friendly and gave us a little history on the winery itself and where the grapes came from. We ended up getting two different flights and both were pretty good! I'm not a wine connoisseur or anything but I had a great time. If you do end up visiting, I'd also recommend trying their brick oven pizzas, those are made fresh and it was amazing! read more

Came here for my partner's birthday by reserving a lunch tasting! It was such a quaint and laidback experience, compared to some of the overly gaudy wineries nearby. We loved knowing that the staff were all family and super friendly. We ordered 2x tastings and then ordered their cheese plate and their fresh brick oven pizza! The pizza was amazing and the cheese plates were filled with delicous fresh and local items. We cannot stop thinking about some of those cheeses! They were taking covid regulations properly when we were there in August. All the tastings are done outside so you have nothing to worry about! We will definitely come back soon to chomp down on the delectable food, which we loved probably a little more than the wine! read more

Kinda out of the way place, but worth the effort is only for one varietal (explained later). We tasted their entire line-up and would assert they are good to very good wines, with one exception. That one exception was EXCEPTIONAL. We were startled by the full fruit and finish of the Tempranillo. We have tasted Tempranillo across California, in Spain, in Mexico and have never come across a Tempranillo with this full fruit palate combined with a finish that I can only describe as "exotic" with all the complexity and new flavors bursting at the end. Just to make sure it wasn't my palate playing tricks, I was given their 2007 Tempranillo to compare. The 2008 was more exotic. They made 75 cases from Starr Ranch grapes. It is $28 and has 16.5% alcohol. Probably made a mistake that I did not buy enough of it, but they will ship more I feel. Next to the 2004 Adelaide Cabernet Sauvignon, the Dubost 2008 Tempranillo was the most pleasant and prized find on our revisit to the Paso Robles area. We bought the 2008 Colson Canyon Syrah - it is rich and complex. The latest release is an Estate Cuvee (only estate grapes) and it is unbelievably good. This little ranch is out of the way, which is how we like it in Paso. Invariably, the places that are the easiest to get to are crowded, and there isn't someone willing to actually speak with you about the wine. They just want you in and out, preferably holding a case of wine as you're running out the door. This winery is different. There were still three groups, including ourselves that visited during the time that we were there, but it was still quiet. The wine itself is obviously dependent on tastes, and we felt the reds were a little on the light side for our palate, but enjoyed our time there nonetheless. read more

We found this wonderful ranch/winery shortly after we moved to the area three years ago and it's been our favorite ever since. The wine is excellent and they always have several varietals and some truly wonderful blends. The family is friendly, knowledgeable and interesting. The Dubosts were among the earliest settlers in the area and we have really enjoyed learning about the history. There are any number of good wineries in the area, but this place has a soul like no other. If you time it right, you might get to taste their excellent pizza too. read more

Dubost makes Italian varietals like Tempranillo and Sangiovese that are blended with a heavy style. The $10 tasting fee covered eight wines with only one that suited my tastes. The fee is waived with 1 bottle purchased. Depending on the weather, both indoor and outdoor tasting areas are available. Some maps place the location west of the Chimney Rock Road and Adelaida Road junction, but the entrance is immediately east of the intersection. Dropped in today because we wanted to try wineries that we haven't heard of. We looked at varietals and chose wineries based on what we liked. What drew is to this winery was some of the unique varietals that we haven't heard of. From the minute we walked in, the hospitality was amazing. We started the tasting with a very nice lady that was very personable. She was funny, and really engaged with us in conversation. After a few bottles, the owner who was just getting some boxes ready for shipping came and took over our tasting so the other lady could help some other people. The owner is fabulous. My partner is a school teacher and upon hearing that she told us that she used to be a math teacher. She talked to us for sometime and it was so enjoyable. The wine was great. My favorite was the vigilance. Very very good wine. I highly recommend. Please make this one of your next stops when touring paso. You won't be disappointed. read more

This place was recommended by a pourer at another winery and I'm so glad they did! It's not the easiest place to find, just keep fallowing the signs and you will get there. It's a small boutique family run winery. While we tasted we got to speak to the wine maker which was great. They also had delicious Olive Oil, jam, and salt which were all delicious. The winery also has an adorable cat who greets you upon arrival. A nice stop especially if you want to get away from the commercial wineries. read more

My husband and I love Dubost! We first stumbled in while on our honeymoon last year. We were greeted by a husband and wife team Kate and Curt. Their son is the winemaker for Dubost. We left with several bottles of some great Syrah, Tempranillo, and Homestead red. We have been back a few times since and are now wine club members. The wine is great and the family makes the tasting room experience priceless. The only disadvantage... It is a little difficult to find and they aren't on the wine map. Our favorite wine and the reason we came to Paso Robles! We went to a fancy wine tasting event on Rodeo Drive, of many different Paso wines, and we kept coming back to the Dubost table. We did not forget the Petite Sirah...at least the taste. Months later, we took our first trip without child, to Paso Robles, and planned it around a visit to Dubost. We got to have them all to ourselves...and several tastes of their superb olive oil! We tasted several of their wines, and again, after tasting several of their wines, it was still their Petite Sirah that spoke to me....love that wine! We spent a few hours there, and were taken on a tour of their vineyard, barrels, etc... The tasting room is a basically a working room for the winery. Most of the wines were good, especially the Crianza, Syrah, and Malbec. We would have joined their club but they wanted us to buy three most expensive wines, which were not even our favorites. I bought separate bottles of the Crianza and Syrah and would do so again, but they should rethink their wine club and the tasting room is most basic. read more

The Six of us started out at Hunt Winery and we asked Bob (taste-server) where he'd recommend we visit...Dubost was one of three he mentioned. It's back near Justin and we're so glad we drove up the long gravel driveway to see their charming, friendly family run business. Kate Dubost happened to be on-site and took the time to show us around their small operation. Wines were really good. Really. What we appreciated seeing their barrels of wine and learning about the challenges of running a small winery. I'd recommend in a heart-beat.
