The views here are just WOW and it's even adorable driving in. You see the little train tracks they have as well as the small but mighty runway where planes can actually fly in and land. So unique! The views from inside or outside are both spectacular, and I enjoyed the ambiance with live music while we were here on a Sunday. Service was great and the food was even better. We ordered the caprices salad which typically comes with tomatoes, but since the chef only works with what's in season, it came with peas. I can't even tell you how amazing it was -- even my boyfriend wanted more! We split the Halter Ranch Burger and Chicken Sandwich and both were great, but the chicken was just so fresh and delicious. Halter Ranch will definitely become one of our regular stops during our trips to Paso from here on out! Can't wait to be back.

We started off with the wine tasting - I enjoyed every wine I tried, especially the rose and CDP. The pours were pretty generous and they let us re-visit our favorite, which was nice. We also split the charcuterie board and chicken sandwich. The charcuterie was alright, but nothing amazing. Same for the chicken sandwich, overall pretty good but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat it here. The service was really great, and we enjoyed walking around the property after lunch. I'm definitely excited to come back on one of the days the mini train is running!

It was described a place: with a guy, his dog and goats, a shack, delicious wine, and that's exactly what it was. Super down to earth host, outdoor seating in the shade, with a backyard vibe. The owner was a super cool dude, playing classic rock on the radio, who makes sure your glass is always full and you have everything you need. Intended on a quick visit, ended up staying over two hours and it felt like home. Bought a couple bottles at a great price and got the road. Definitely would return and highly suggest you check them out. Make sure and grab a pic with his pup before you leave.

We came in without a reservation on a Saturday afternoon and were warmly greeted by two of the winery dogs - already a big success. We checked in at the tasting room and were greeted by Greg, the owner and our host for the day, then grabbed a spot outside. Greg brought the wines from the tasting menu out 1 at a time and told us a little about each. We even got an extra pour of an off menu wine. We ended up taking two bottle home from the tasting - the rosé and the R'own blend.

The wines themself are fabulous at DAOU, we went home with a Pinot and a reserve Rosé. The property itself is absolutely stunning with gorgeous views of Paso Robles. A bonus at this winery is they offer quite a few food options which was great as we had just drove about 4 hours from LA and were starving. The Margherita pizza did not disappoint and was made in the outdoor pizza oven. I can't recommend DAOU enough for a tasting in a magical setting. We'll definitely be back!

And after a drive that reminded me of the beginning of "The Shining" with all of the winding roads, I arrived, sat down overlooking the valley, and told my wine guy flat out what I started this review with. He was slightly taken aback and treated me with a "let's change your mind" attitude. As I waited for my first sample, I couldn't help but notice the view. It was the best view of all of the wineries I've visited and based on the other reviews, I'm not wrong. They used their plot of land well to Wow their guests... I sampled quite a few wines and liked a lot of them. The ones here are apparently different than the DAOU that's in most stores and restaurants. That's a shame actually... I was here in the morning so it was freezing cold out. I'd recommend for a morning tasting, bring a jacket or something (I was there in May). But as the morning neared its end, the sun warmed things up. My wine guy brought some crackers also as I was feeling a bit queasy from guzzling wine so early. Nice touch and prevented the hallways from looking like "The Shining" too. I also enjoyed watching and playing with Cheetoh, the cat who hung around the outside. He was pretty chill and friendly. He followed my wine guy around and let me pet him (the cat, not the wine guy). I'm glad I went and was upfront about why I was there. I think he appreciated it too and he did change my mind about DAOU. I get that it's a business so you gotta sell to the masses, but make some of these others available to us common folk. If I'm ever in Paso Robles again, I'm making sure to make a reservation here and get one of those wood fired pizzas! And maybe they'll take my idea and make a Lizzie Bordeaux! I hadn't visited since the week before everything shut down for COVID, and I'm happy to say it's just as great as I remembered. The vibe is cozy and understated, which is a big part of the charm. It doesn't feel overly commercialized or like they're rushing people in and out; there's a real sense of care behind the experience. The wines are excellent, and the pricing feels very fair, especially since nothing about the experience feels over the top or pretentious. We came on a last-minute trip and weren't able to get a reservation online, but they were kind enough to accommodate us as walk-ins. We spent about an hour there, enjoyed the tasting, and ended up buying a few bottles. We'll definitely be back soon, and I'd love to join the wine club once we start drinking more wine. Highly recommend, just really good quality all around.

Our son proposed to his girlfriend up at Adelaida's Hilltop Experience. Afterwards our families celebrated their engagement in the winery. We were so spoiled- every last detail was looked after. Mary was our wine educator and she is so fabulous, friendly, attentive, and informative. She took great care of us, and Bryce was so helpful (and so patient and gracious!) in planning the hilltop experience for our son and his now fiancé. He fielded a lot of phone calls and answered a lot of questions. We are so appreciative of his great service and kindness. Thank you, Adelaida, for a wonderful day of memories for our families!

We were even lucky enough to have one of the cats tasting with us the entire time. They had a big covered outdoor patio, but we opted to taste at the bar so we could enjoy the cats and not get wet having to go back and forth between inside and out. The tasting menu consisted of 9 wines, 1 white and 8 reds. Since we had another winery or two ahead of us, we opted to share. My boyfriend was skeptical about sharing at first, but he ended up glad we did because the pours were a pretty decent size. They also had a wall of olive oils and balsamics that you could taste. Plus mustards available for purchase, but not tasting. The hospitality was fantastic! It was a rainy day, the tasting room was packed, and there was only one person working, but he managed to take care of all of us with ease. He constantly knew which wines people were on, and still took the time to chat with everyone about the wines and the animals. This wasn't my favorite wine of the trip, but we did leave with a bottle and also got some oils and a mustard!
