Today, i had my second bike fitting at Dublin Cyclery. Dan was great. Very knowledgeable enjoy what he does. He worked with me on my bike to get the best fit possible for the best effiency of enery and power. Most of make it comfortable for long distance riding. He adjust everything from my cleats, seat, handle bars and handle bar grips and brake levers. Even oiled up some o the squeaky parts of the bike. When my daughter decided to purchase a bike for getting back and forth to college, we had what turned out to be the great fortune of choosing Dublin Cyclery to look for the perfect bike for her. All I can say is the two gentlemen who run this store (and their young assistants) have great customer service down to a science! They were very informative, very helpful and they didn't pressure us for a sale. Unfortunately, the bike we chose turned out to be the wrong choice for our household - we live in a second floor apartment and the bike was just too heavy to easily carry up and down the stairs, plus it took up too much room in our apartment. When I called Dublin Cyclery back a few days after the purchase to let them know the bike we chose wasn't going to work, they were more than gracious. Largely because of their attitude about the return, my daughter and I were determined to buy the replacement bike from them. We ended up choosing a Dahon folding bicycle for just under $100 more than our original purchase, which has turned out to be the perfect choice. Dublin Cyclery gave us full credit for the return and didn't even charge is a re-stocking fee, which is what some other bike shops would have done. What a great find! TONY IS THE MAN! He is so attentive, courteous and super helpful. You will not be disappointed with the customer service! Now on to the actual review: Called to check how long it will take to tune up our bikes (been stored in the garage for about a year) and they said Friday. Dropped off the bike and tony put it up the stand and checked each bike with me explaining what will be done and to see f I need new chains, tires, bake pads etc. but looks like my bike is in really great condition but needing a bit of tune up. He didn't upsell or pretended that my bike was broken or missing parts etc. they are honest in that place. The only place I will be going to for as long as I need tune up for the bikes again! Friday came and they were on time! I picked up my bikes in tiptop shape! Looks new again! He even gave me a very helpful tip about sitting properly by tippy toeing while standing on your bike. :) great guys in there! read more

I started looking for a bike because I wanted to start riding to work and wanted a good commuter bike. Before I went to Dublin Cylcery, I checked out a few other tri-valley bike shops and did a little research on the internet. When I walked into Dublin Cyclery I was greeted by David. He helped fit me for a road bike and showed me a couple of different options. I looked at a few other bike shops after that and found bikes I liked but I felt like I was being sold a more expensive bike than I needed. I went with DC because I felt like David was trying to find the bike best for my needs and not trying to upsell me. I finally put the bike on lay away because it was going to be a birthday present that my friends and family were going to pay off over a few weeks. David dealt with my family the whole time. Chuck and his staff are so friendly and kind. We keep needing their help as our preteens continue to stress and mangle their bikes into modern junk!! Of course they comeback looking like new and repaired as needed. We try to stay away from the national stores and stay local and local to Dublin, not Livermore or Danvillle. I've been a customer of Dublin cyclery since it was on amador valley blvd when i was a kid. i LIVED in that location, bought numerous BMX bikes and skateboards and accessories from them over the years. Now as my kids need flats repaired or other bike related accessories it's nice to know there is a goto local "mom and pop" that is still around and hasn't changed in it's community. Owned by the same folks, it's still a very customer oriented, friendly helpful shop. All are very knowledgeable and know their craft well. I purchased a road bike from Dublin Cyclery a couple years ago and still love it. My motivation for this more recent review is having a very good experience with Dublin Cyclery last weekend. They were very busy but still took the time to help me with a gear adjustment. A lot have miles have been ridden and hills climbed since my bike purchase. I've gone back to Dublin Cyclery as needed for routine maintenance. They've provided minor tune ups and brake adjustments for free. Very happy!!! I came in here...feeling a litte out of sort.. I dont look like a bike rider, I dont know what kind of bike is best for me & my non- bike- physique, also I'm not the youngest person in the world. Honestly, I was a little uncomfortable.. I kind of dreaded coming in. How would they react to me? What were they going to treat me like? Sure....my money is just as good as everyone else's, but... I dreaded it. Well...I walked in the door & was greeted with a great smile, a nice boy... :) TONY!!!!...I can say... everything was GREAT from there! He was knowledgeable...NEVER made me feel uncomfortable, he made suggestions, asked questions, ...and then we went outside & I test drove about 5 bikes.., Tony gave me tips, adjusted the bikes for me...and finally I narrowed it down to 2. I was skeptical of their 5 star rating. So I visited all the local shops in Dublin, Danville and Pleasanton. Dublin Cyclery staff was the most inviting of all the other shops in the area. I can easily say they are an awesome shop and have deserved their 5 stars rating with me. The entire staff is very helpful. After choosing Dublin Cyclery, I had my old 20yr Specialized bike brought in for an overhaul. When I brought it in, Danny took the time to look it over well and gave me an time and cost estimate. When it was done and came in to pick my bike up, there were no last minute surprises especially with the total cost since I do admit this bike was not taken care of well. They did a great job on this bike, and I enjoy this old bike again. I also purchased a bike rack here, and Danny put together the entire rack and showed me the highlights. This place is a true example of perfect customer service and going that extra mile to help out their customers. This bike shop rocks! The guys there are so cool. I bought a couple tubes and tires before hitting the ironhorse trail and the guy that helped me was really cool. He was knowledgeable about their products and even showed me where the air pump was even though I didn't ask. Just the fact that he went above and beyond to give me great service is much appreciated. Went here based on good yelp reviews. Couldn't be more spot on. I was looking for a good bike for my kid, and the guy who helped us was super cool and helpful. Danny, I think? Anyways, my son loves his new bike. I felt like I got excellent advice, wasn't oversold but was also given good recommendations in the differences between difference models. I felt like we picked the perfect bike for my son, the price was good and I felt like there was a genuine desire to help me make a good choice. Today, a few months later, came in for a small purchase. Again, friendly, good advice. Talked with the guy behind the counter who made a few recommendations on good rides to take with my kids. I was looking at bikes as an upgrade from my Marin Sausalito Hybrid Bicycle which I purchased from Dublin Cyclery back in 2009. Not that anything was really wrong with this bike, which in fact is a great bike and very well-built with quality components. My only knock on it was that I wanted my next road bike to have Disc Brakes. After talking to Andy and Robert, They recommended an Avid Disc Brake upgrade for the front wheel. For a reasonable charge I was able to upgrade my bike and get brand new Disc Brake an Rotor installed using the factory Shimano Brake Pulls. Robert dis a really professional installation and it looks 100% stock. Thank you for saving me a ton of money and for upgrading a really nice hybrid bicycle. read more

Simply said, this is the best example of customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I am a bit of an obsessive compulsive and freak out when I hear strange noises coming from my newly purchased bikes. The guys in the shop have never made me feel ridiculous for my unfounded worries and have always taken the time to explain to me exactly what is going on, or to fix the problem free of charge. I have purchased 5 bicycles in the last year; two Giant mountain bikes, XTC and Trance 2, two Giant road bikes, Avail 3 and Defy 3, and a Giant kids bike for my 4 year old. All of these bikes have worked flawlessly and if they haven't they have been adjusted for free. The guys don't seem to mind if you just hang out and talk trails and riding with them at all. They are all very knowledgeable on the local riding, BTW. I have even struck up a friendship with a couple of the guys and ride with him/them on a semi-regular basis. This shop knows bikes and are very willing to help you out with what you may need, and have NEVER tried to upsell me on anything I didn't need. Chuck, the owner, has obviously instilled a fantastic work ethic in his crew and it shows time after time after time. This is how a shop has such a great following of loyal and dedicated customers. Any time I am due for a service or an upgrade I will go in and have them do it. Any time I want to talk about the latest trail or road ride I know I can go in and talk to them about it, without being pressured to buy something. Good job guys!!! Keep up the good work!!! My son was in need of a new bike so we strolled in on a Sunday afternoon. We were immediately greeted by a nice young man (okay, I'm in my early 30's but I realize how old that made me sound, haha). He was kind, knowledgeable, and quickly found the perfect bike for my son. He helped him ride it around the parking lot to make sure everything felt good. He explained the benefits of buying a bike from them - the guaranteed trade in is awesome! It honestly felt like this guy loved his job and as a customer I can't tell you how rare and appreciated that is. The bike was more than I was planning on spending (I'm usually a "get your bike at Wal-Mart" kind of girl) but now that it's home I very much appreciate the quality. Recently my fiancee and I went here to look at getting new bikes. Neither of us had purchased a bike in very long, so we did not know what we wanted. Immediately Tony explained all of our options to us and helped us find bikes we would like. Unfortunately, they had a very limited stock on hand since it was just after Christmas. Fortunately, Tony was able to order us bicycles and since they were bikes they would normally stock we did not even have to pay a deposit and we were not obligated to purchase them once they arrived if we were not happy. While waiting for the bikes to arrive, we went to several other local bike shops and sports stores. No one else was even remotely as helpful as Dublin Cyclery. About a week after ordering (since we decided to wait for them to place a larger order to avoid paying shipping), they called and said our bikes were in. We went back and they were absolutely perfect. Robert and David helped us out when we picked them up and customized them. Everyone there is extremely helpful and really knows there stuff. I brought it in and an hour later it was done. They offered to carry it out with or without the wheel on (in case it couldn't fit in my vehicle and maybe cause I'm a girl ;)) which I responded, 'nah, I got it cause i'm super strong but thanks.' NO I didn't really respond to that, but I was thinking it in my head. And let me say I ended up going to another local bike shop to get a bike, ONLY because they had exactly what I wanted (Red and white cruiser that fit!) - but Charlie was awesome. My boyfriend has been coming here to get his bike repaired (he's a much more avid biker than myself - clearly! I bought a beach cruiser - it's like the station wagon of bikes) and I decided to go along. I was a little fearful of the prices, b/c I'm used to Target, KMart, WalMart prices (but my b/f notified me those weren't real bikes to ride forever, and that I should make the investment. The bike I ended up buying was in the same price range in the end) - Anywho - Charlie is succinct, outspoken and knowledgeable - he won't pressure you and even said "Even if you buy a bike anywhere, make sure it fits first." And then he adjusted 2 bikes for me to tell me what my body type should look for. Very nice for a girl who hasn't bought a bike in a decade! I will be taking my bike here when I need a tune-up. I don't just go around handing out five star reviews, not for restaurants, not for bike shops. Ok, ok- if you look at my review history you might see a few of those, but I though they were totally deserved! The story is that Dublin Cyclery is fairly close to my office, and I just bought a new bike there. I bought my first bike as an adult at Missing Link back when I lived in Berkeley, and I beat the heck out of it every day for six years. I carried groceries, jumped off curbs, did bike party- it was great! Unfortunately, I ended up breaking the frame and the rear hub at once. I decided that the damage was enough that I should really just get a new bike instead of replacing the frame and rear hub. David really listened to my needs as I was explaining what I needed, and he went out of his way to get me the right bike to test ride. I looked at bikes in a few other shops, but nobody was as helpful or engaged in the process of helping me get what I needed. I showed up near closing time, but the guys there stayed late helping me wrap up the purchase, putting new tires a rack, and a few accessories on the bike so that I could take it home that night. This was a really big deal for me since I don't have a car, and have more than a mile to cover on each side of the BART station. Getting a working bike meant getting my life back. So of course you want to know, "How was the price?" to be honest- very average. I could probably have beat the price on just the bike if I went somewhere else, but they did give me a very nice price on a tire upgrade. I know they're going to be there for me if something goes wrong, and it sounds like they stand behind their bikes. The icing on the cake? Cake! Literally! As I was waiting for the mechanic to finish up, the guys asked me if I'd like a slice of cake. Another recent customer had been so happy with the shop that they brought in a nice chocolate cake and some cookies, and everyone got some. I think this says a whole lot about what kind of a place this is. Sure you don't get "rock bottom prices", but think about what you're getting for your money- support your local bike shop! read more

Last fall, after suffering from several acute episodes of plantar fasciitis after mountain biking, I finally figured out I'd need to look into the fit of my mountain bike. After reading reviews for this shop I gave Chuck a call and believe it or not, his reply was that he would be happy to check it out and make some adjustments for me but since he was no expert in foot physiology he didn't want to charge me! How could I refuse that offer?! Well, after several appointments to tweak the fit I had to insist on paying, and the PF has not flared up since! I just finished having his incredible team of bike techs tune the bike, and this very expensive bike I've been riding for the past 7 years has never felt better! Thank you, Team Dublin Cyclery! Dusted off a couple of Trek mountain bikes that were not functioning and these guys got them going, one after just about an hour for just the tires and the other after a complete tune-up, including reclaiming the existing derailer with a new (fly wheel?) rather than a whole new derailer, costing only $10 rather than much more for a new derailer on this heavily used bike, other stuff like a new brake line, ready as promised after a few days of much needed fine tuning it now runs like new.
