We had some extra time at Dublin airport so we decided to sit down and have one last pint of Guinness and lunch at whiskey bread in the terminal. It had fast service, decent prices for beer, the food was okay. Experience for airport food.
EAT YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU GO TO THE GATE!!! You hit PASSPORT/IMMIGRATION/CUSTOMS before the gate and that's a BAD THING!!! For our last meal in Dublin, I bought two types of beautiful ham and cheese croissant baked goods from the nice folks at our corner Centra market. They looked so delicious and ... I will never know. I had GOES (Global Entry). There was absolutely NO LINE. I had the food and was going to get us all set up for a last picnic at the gate and SHE MADE ME THROW IT AWAY. I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO TASTE IT!!! May I at least eat some of it? I'm hungry and that's my family's last lunch. My husband and mom were so hungry they had started on some on our walk, but I was carrying it and didn't have the hands to eat any of it, yet ... the gate is right over there ... I just want to eat something ... NO! THROW IT AWAY NOW! There's not even a line ... there's no one else here except me! NO! She even had me open up a sealed and labeled "buttered roll" so that she could look very closesly in all the corners and check that it was really just bread and butter. I was painstakingly carrying all the other food we had bought on our trip, had laid it out and taken a picture of it the night before, and she didn't even look at my picture and waved me through. The other food had seeds and dried fruit ... nope ... no fox given. I was almost in tears ... AND HANGRY!!! YOU MADE ME THROW AWAY OUR LUNCH!!! NOT COOL!!! I DIDN'T GET TO EAT!!! Dublin is no longer my favorite city ... I thought the idea of going through customs and immigration before boarding the plane was a good idea ... FECK THAT!!! What a crappy end to my vacation. NOTE: The Aer Lingus crew came through, got me some chocolate and crisps, and said that the signage should be better that says EAT YOUR FOOD BEFORE ENTERING!!!
Outbound, Charlotte - Boston - Dublin and returning Dublin - Boston - Charlotte. I was here twice on this trip and once before in 2016. It's the same as it was when I was through here then. The Preclearance Operation is awesome because you don't have to deal with it when you get to your US airport and you don't have to pick up and recheck your luggage when you land at your first US airport. So that's nice though you'll wait in lines either here or there regardless. Yes, lots of queues for departure security and yes, they have a shorter one for those of us with Global Entry. In big letters - THERE IS ALMOST NO FOOD ONCE YOU ARE PRECLEARED. The Terminal is devoid of fast food and completely devoid of cheap food. There are a couple of sit down places which were packed this afternoon. And they're expensive. So that's a major downer for me. Some vending machines but they're also expensive and limited. Buy your food before you go through preclearance. If you're flying First Class and have access to it, great. If not, you can try purchasing a pass for the 51st & Green Lounge which runs €41 per person. They sell the tickets online but they're sold out about three weeks in advance and they're non-refundable. Worth it for two hours of peace, food and drink, comfort and a view of the ramp. [Review 2003 of 2024 - 178 in Republic of Ireland - 23025 overall]
Dublin Airport Terminal 2 is small and limited, especially when comparing it to other international airports. I was surprised by how small it was when I came here to fly back home as I spent a few hours before my flight here; it was lacking a lot of amenities that could be helpful for travelers. They say for an international flight, you need to arrive to the airport three hours prior. And the day I was flying out, there was news of a protest that was to take place at the Dublin International Airport, so it was advised that I leave early. With that said, I had hours to spend before taking an evening flight home, so walked around the entire terminal, looking for restaurants and shops to check out. Some positives is that they do have a good duty-free store that's massive and has many local products, which is perfect for gifts. I was able to get some gifts here, including Irish whiskey that isn't sold in the US. I also found another store that sells many Irish products, including aran woolen products, Waterford crystals, etc. It was nice to go there for last-minute gifts. But if you're looking for a place to chill and get some cocktails, there's only one restaurant inside and it was crowded because everyone was trying to just chill over cocktails. The eating options here are very limited. And there was not enough seating for all the travelers here. Also, where the heck are the water filling stations? For US-bound flights, there's a pre-clearance area, which was the first time I've seen this at an airport. It was a very quick process, going through the pre-clearance area and because this occurs at Dublin, you don't need to go through customs when you land back home, which is so nice. But be warned that after you go through pre-clearance, you're then at your gate area, which has even less seating and eating options. Therefore, I suggest you shop and eat at terminal 2 then do pre-clearance before your flight since there won't be much else to do here when you're waiting for your flight. Not a terrible airport terminal, but also far from the best.

Dublin Terminal 2 offers a ton of shopping and some places to eat. But in the summer it can be dismally hot. HVAC system is totally underrated. Dress light for this airport in the summer. Also, it's pretty crowded at peak summer travel.
Lackluster airport that had some rude staff. So odd as the people of Ireland were almost without exception incredibly kind and pleasant.
Dublin International Airport didn't offer a wide selection of restaurant options, but it was nice to see Irish food choices available. There are also options for last-minute shopping. If you're flying to the U.S., you'll need to go through the U.S. pre-clearance gate. I recommend not buying food before passing through, as it will be confiscated even if purchased within the airport. Overall, I had a positive experience in Dublin, and returning to JFK was seamless. I just had to grab my luggage and head home, skipping the long lines. I would consider returning in the future.
This is the International Terminal for Dublin including flight to and from the United States. Prior to our trip to Dublin there were a mountain of problems reported here for more than a month on Twitter and National News including long lines for security, lost baggage, and dirty never cleaned restrooms with no one tracking anything or giving a S. They were overwhelmed by the volume of tourists in June and on top of that agreed to accept 1000's of Ukrainian refugees, but had nowhere to put them so they camped in the airport. The US Gov't, the US Airlines that fly here, and other countries filed a formal complaint with the Irish Gov't to get their S together and by the time we arrived and departed--things went very smooth--really fast! Our bags were waiting for us by the time we finished with Passport Control on arrival. And Passport control went very fast and organized even with 5 flights arriving at the same time. On the return--almost no wait for check-in at American Air, no wait at Dublin Security and no wait at US Customs which unusually has a presence in Dublin so when you arrive in the USA you arrive as a domestic passenger--you are done with customs. Just keep in mind that that you have to go through Two layers of security and bag and metal detector checks in Dublin when returning to the USA so don't make the mistake we made and got dressed and had to undress again for US Homeland Security here. PIA! The airport is old, has food, but not a lot after you go through double security. After you go through US Customs in Dublin you are in a special secure area and don't mix with the other International Passengers. It's kind of like entering the USA in Dublin. They even have a special airline club in this area for all the airlines combined if you have that status with your airline. We picked up a Subway on the way to the airport and that helped a lot. The restroom I used was clean and I was able to even wipe myself down from sweating through the whole process. Unfortunately, American Air, which has been always on-time from Dublin to DFW for a month, had a technical problem with the 787 and we were two hours late leaving causing us to miss our DFW connection back to LA and then our bags did not make the late flight they put us on. That is a whole other story. Just a note about the Irish/Dublin Security--I have been traveling with the same exact Tweezer in my toiletries bag for 30 years through security all over the world and USA and this was the first time, I was called aside and subjected to an inspection. When I asked what she was looking for? I could not imagine because I fly all the time and I am so regimented for security checks. She said it looks like a tweezer on the scanner. I helped her find it and showed it to her--she took it to her supervisor who said that is exactly what they saw on the screen. It looked like a sharp weapon to the operator but she said that was fine and let me go. Additionally you have to put all your liquids in bags the size they give you: 1 Liter, not the 1 Quart Bags we use in the USA. Another thing we had to deal with over there.
Nothing like a crazy long layover when you are just trying to get home. There were no hotels in the entire city available (not even super expensive), so the only option presented to us was to sleep in a chair or on the floor with tons of other stranded passengers in the Airport. Luckily the airport is overall clean and easy to navigate. Not clean enough to say yes to sleeping on the floor though. In trying to get re-booked on another flight, we had wonderful help by Aoife! Downstairs by Carousel 6 was the help counter where she and another lady (also super nice and helpful with other passengers) guided us kindly and with understanding as we were the last flight to come in that night which got stranded as all vouchers for rooms were given out already, even though we were promised them earlier in the day. Kindness goes a long way when truly there was nothing else they could do. With quick thinking and 1 rental counter still open, we decided to rent a car and sleep there for the night. Best decision as we had a place for our luggage and a semi-comfortable place to rest. Next best thing to a hotel room. As for the food at the airport, well it was some of the worst I've had. Somehow, many places had high Google reviews and we choose one of those, but was completely disappointed. Pretty much ate from the convenience stores for better and healthier options (yogurt, fresh fruit, drinks, etc). Going with a 4 star rating based on excellent customer service with re-booking and car rental. Plus, you can carry up to 2L of water through security. 1 star off for food dissapointing food options. read more
Great airport, large enough to need busses from the plane to the ramp, that's the only downside as it was raining. Lots of Cafés at all hours selling all the carb options + beer and coffee. Not that im complaining but letting you know to come prepared. Lots of stations to charge and free wifi to continue to work while you wait. Tons of escalators and belts to move you around. JFK T4 learn from DUB or AMS. read more

Whiskey Bread at Dublin airport . Limited menu , food is average or below . Tables dirty and tacky even after cleaning. This place needs a serious revamp . Used to be great , not anymore. Unless something is done I will never come here again ! I'm Irish living in USA and I'm disgusted. Wonder what our international tourists think of it . Their last memory leaving Ireland ! read more

Sorry to say we did not have a good experience here. The person handling our bags was confused, disorganized and not friendly. It was clear that this was not going well especially when our luggage never made it to our destination. Not clear signs to the gates and very few areas to get food or water. Be sure to take food in the plane as no free water or snack items are available. That would've been nice to know before a 4 hour flight. read more

Our routing was Boston Dublin Milan RT on Aer Lingus. We selected Dublin because we thought it would be better than Heathrow. It was an incremental improvement, a truly modest gain. We still wound up carrying our luggage up and down stairs, and lugging it on and off buses. On our outbound flight from Dublin to Milan, we had to take a bus to a "holding terminal", then queue up for our flight, walk over to the plane, and carry our luggage up the stairs to board the plane. I guess hoping for a Jetway is just too big an ask for Aer Lingus and the Dublin Airport? There were very limited dining options when our one hour delayed flight arrived in Dublin. There was only one small sandwich spot in our proximity, and it was packed (likely because there was only one small sandwich place in our proximity!). We were lucky enough to score a small table, as I waited in line about 10 minutes to order sandwiches. They were actually quite good, though they had to be consumed quickly to make our connection. My general takeaway was to avoid both Aer Lingus and the Dublin Airport on our next European vacation. read more

I always enjoy going to this lounge before a long journey. Self service, lots of room and nice food choices. Very friendly staff, clean and relaxing. Priority Pass gets you in with 2 guests, so kiddos came in too and loved the chocolate chip muffins! read more

You need to walk a bit on arrival to get an uber, but bo more than 3-4 min. The airport is not big and nice overall. There's a separate terminal for the US flights and you can pass customs there, so there's no passport control in the US. We came there 2 hours before the flight and could make all of that. However, I would recommend to get a bit earlier for the US flight. read more
Go with extra time to spare! When flying to the USA be prepared as you will do European security, followed by US security, followed by United States customs and border patrol! This can be super fast or take a while depending on time of day and staffing! (Customs is easy for citizens) permanent residents are sent to the same line as visa/ tourists etc and if you're a family of mixed citizen / resident you'll also have to go with the other line (kind of frustrating given the citizen line is much shorter) I can tell you from my time before I was a permanent resident to have all your ducks in a row for customs! They'll want your passport, may ask exact travel dates, how much cash your carrying, where you work etc! Be honest and it should be a walk in the park but they can feel intimidating. They just want to make sure you're not a criminal and you'll definitely leave again. Residents and citizens just get asked how long they've been out of the country (: After US security there are some food options, some shopping options! Get water at the self serve stand it's much cheaper than €3 a bottle at the pop up stands! A couple spots for souvenirs and Irish chocolate / chips but not as big of a selection as there is after the European security section! There are lots of outlets around the terminal so bring your Eu plug so you can charge your phone / iPad if needed. Chairs are spaced out to keep distance during these covid times Bathrooms are plentiful and generally clean! Entering Ireland through terminal 2 is easy, customs lines move fast especially if you're a European passport holder, baggage can be slow but that's just life! And it can be a long walk in if your plane is parked near the end of the terminal (: There's a cafe and little newsagent once you exit baggage! read more

Cramped seating area with many dirty tables. I arrived right before lunch service started. Took them 20-30 mins just to replace the snacks with some sandwiches and soup. Even after lunch was set out, tables from breakfast still weren't cleaned up. Only came here to grab a bite before my flight. No way I would pay for this. Barely had 10 mins to eat because of how long they look to change out the food. read more
The first thing I noticed when I landed was how modern this airport was. The architecture was very impressive with lots of steel and glass. The signs were clearly marked in English (and Gaelic, I'm guessing) I had no difficulty finding my way to baggage claim. There were numerous escalators and people-movers to help tired travelers speed through the large terminal. Everything was brightly lit and clean. Getting through immigration and security was relatively easy and I found the staff to be slightly nicer than their U.S. counterparts. This airport has all of the amenities one would expect from a modern, international airport (shops, restaurants, plenty of bathrooms, WiFi, etc.) and the self-check machines are a godsend. You can print your boarding pass, weigh your check-in luggage and get the tag all without having to wait for an airline employee. Nice. I also had my first Full Irish Breakfast in the lounge. It was surprisingly good. The lounge was huge with plenty of tables and booths for travelers and their luggage. The biggest challenge was getting used to the subtle differences between American and European ways of doing things. As long as you are respectful and do you best to understand you are a guest in their country, you'll get along fine. read more
Nice enough but not efficient. It's is clear lots of money was invested in this airport however not necessarily well thought out. There are plenty of restrooms "Toilets' but not much on food. The food choices are limited and not much to speak of other than to say they are overpriced! When waiting for your flight the information regarding the gate and departure is a mess. It's like a secret mystery wrapped in an enigma. They are announced only and not before approximately 45 minutes before the flight. I prefer to know far in advance so I can go to the location then freely roam. Luckily everything is within 3-4 minutes walking distance. Ok I had to land here if I wanted to travel to Ireland so, I guess it really doesn't matter. It is a safe and clean airport what more could you ask for?! read more
