Car review After reading the reviews of this location, I have to say they're a little unfair. I've rented from Sixt numerous times in the States, and have always had a positive experience. I went here knowing it would be different than how we conduct rentals in America. The main complaint is the excessive hold they place on your credit card upon check in, and this seems to stem from misunderstandings. The hold/deposit decreases based on how much insurance/excess you select. If you opt for no/low coverage, or want to use your credit card CDW, then yes, they will place a significant hold to secure the car. I opted for the €0 excess, so the deposit was only €100. I don't really blame them for this; if you have never driven in Ireland before, you WILL damage the vehicle. There is simply no room for error, and mistakes will happen. The first time I drove a car there, I ran into bushes, grazed the passenger mirror on a fence, and severely curbed the rims. Luckily, Enterprise didn't charge me for that; however, even in the States, Sixt is known for documenting every minor scratch you put on their cars - especially the locations with the AI camera arches. Anyway, as for the experience, I arrived to the Sixt counter inside terminal 2, and was pleasantly greeted by Adelina. I provided the necessary documents, she confirmed the protection/insurance selections, provided a free upgrade, and gave clear instructions on how to get to the vehicle lot. I took the shuttle over, quickly found the car, and was on my way. I was assigned a Renault Captur, and though it had high mileage, it was clean and in good mechanical condition. I put well over 1,200 KMs on it over six days, and got decent fuel mileage. Overall, you have to consider their point of view - renting to Americans who are accustomed to driving on the right, with roads considerably wider and easier to drive than Ireland's. As a result, they protect their vehicles for inevitable damages. Set your expectations realistically and protect yourself as much as possible, even if the protection is more than the rental; it's worth the peace of mind. read more

SCAM! My price when booked online was €217. When I got off a 20 hour trip they slam you with a hard sell pitch and force you to buy insurance that is gravely overpriced!! Basic insurance is €200 plus you have to pay a €2000 deposit!! Yeah €2000! If you choose no insurance you have to pay a €5000 deposit!! The middle insurance that only requires a €150 deposit added €600 to the cost! The fact that after you get off a long flight you are hammered with an hour of sales pitches then have to hand over basically all of the discretionary find for an entire vacation is ABOMINABLE! As for the car: total junk. The brakes scratched and squealed the whole time, the key was literally taped together and fell apart the whole trip. It was so frustrating to keep track of the pieces. Three different SIXT locations at Dublin International Airport on Yelp. I'm reviewing the one at the terminal. Yes, there's also the pickup/dropoff lot but most of my interactions were at the desk in the airport terminal. Other than the lack of clarity on one thing on the original reservation, everything went smoothly. The problem was that I wanted to use my Chase Sapphire Visa card which includes the damage insurance. But Sixt's rules are that if I'm declining Sixt's insurance (regardless of whether it's included elsewhere), the small print explains that they must take a €5000 deposit on my card. Well, I don't have $5500 of available credit on that card! So I had to switch to my American Express card, which does have that much credit available but does not include the insurance, so now I have to buy their loss damage waiver. Not quite a bait and switch as this is in the small print, it's just not at all clear. Other than that, they did honor the price in the reservation. I was upgraded at the counter to a slightly larger vehicle which was appreciated. I booked a "VW T-Cross or similar" and drove off with a "Toyota C-HR" instead. A compact SUV, but still the automatic transmission I booked. Despite having 75000 km on the odometer, it was clean and it drove well. No mechanical or physical problems. In 8 days, I drove 600 miles (1000 kilometers) with this car, from Dublin to Bushmills to Galway and back to Dublin. In that time, only two half tanks of fuel. I calculated that it got 44 mph (18.7 km/l) which is pretty darned awesome considering that I was driving the speed limit the entire time and not at all light on the accelerator. Lots of stop and go with all those roundabouts! Returning was easy enough and no problems were found. While waiting for the shuttle back to the airport (too long of a wait!), I saw the car pulled out of the garage and being driven back out onto the lot already! Yes, I would rent from Sixt at DUB again. I know others have had problems. Reading the reviews, it looks like lots to do with debit cards. But I used a credit card and had no issue. Rent elsewhere! We rented a car from Sixt Ireland (Dublin Airport) in October 2025. On our trip around the Ring of Kerry, the rear tire suddenly burst. The tire technician confirmed both rear tires were completely bald and the front tires were also badly worn -- the car was not roadworthy when rented. Sixt initially blamed us for "under-inflation," which the technician said was false. Since then, they've ignored three follow-up emails and provided no reimbursement or acknowledgment. We've filed complaints with the CCPC and ECC Ireland over the unsafe condition of the vehicle. Extremely disappointing experience and a serious safety concern for future customers. read more

When I booked my rental, I chose an economy car described as a VW Polo or a similar vehicle. However, when I arrived to collect my car, the Hertz representative informed me that I would be receiving a Fiat 500. I explained that the Fiat 500 is a two-door vehicle and not comparable in size to the VW Polo. Despite this, he insisted that the Fiat 500 falls under the same "E" category as the Polo. The Fiat 500 could not accommodate my baggage, yet the representative claimed there were no other "E" class vehicles available and pressured me into upgrading to a larger car. This forced upgrade cost me hundreds of dollars more than my original booking, which I find completely unacceptable. Furthermore, I later discovered that the Fiat 500 is actually classified as a "mini" car category, whereas the Polo is categorized as an economy car in the "E" class. It has also come to my attention that Hertz representatives receive commission for upselling upgrades, which suggests that I was deliberately misled by the representative to make more money. In light of this, I feel I was scammed--not just by the individual representative but by Hertz as a company. read more

Do not rent from Sixt in Dublin! We picked up the rental car at the Dublin Airport parking garage at 10:30pm. The garage was poorly lit, making inspection difficult. The vehicle was parked between other vehicles - this prevented us from viewing the side of the vehicle from more than a few feet away. As instructed, we walked around the vehicle and took photos of any visible imperfections. Though we took photos of minor scrapes and dents, no significant damage was apparent at the time. Two days later, while parked in good daylight and from a distance and slightly below the vehicle, we noticed a large gouge on the lower body panel beneath the driver's side door (the right side of the vehicle in the UK). The damage was only visible when standing a significant distance from the car under bright light. Knowing we had not caused this damage, we immediately contacted Sixt customer service to report it. The representative told us a note would be made on our rental file. We also sent them photos of the damage for their records. Sixt responded stating that they had no record of this damage prior to our rental and that we would be held responsible. We asked whether they systematically take photos of all parts of all vehicles at check-in/check-out. We were told that photos are only taken if damage is noted by staff, and unfortunately, no such record existed in our case. We were also told that someone would follow up with us to discuss the matter further, but no follow-up ever occurred. Due to our early flight home, we returned the vehicle to the same garage without interacting with any Sixt staff. We took photos and dropped off the key as normal. Later that morning, we received a message from Sixt acknowledging the vehicle return and stating boldly that "No new damages were detected." This led us to believe they had recognized the damage was pre-existing. Two weeks later, and without any further communication or documentation, we were charged $1,177.60 for damage to the vehicle. Sixt claimed the damage was discovered during a more detailed inspection. Apparently, they get two weeks, good lighting, and a trained professional to look at the vehicle. While they could not prove that we caused the damage, we could not prove that we didn't. Sixt does not take systematic photo documentation of all vehicles from all angles at pick-up and drop-off (as most rental companies do.) They only save photos of damages. This means renters are wholly responsible for proving they didn't create the damage, placing unreasonable burden on renters who experience sub-optimal conditions for inspections (low light, tight space) and who are not professional vehicle inspectors. Extremely disappointing experience. I was charged for extra days I did not use, and the company has refused to issue a reimbursement. Since returning home, I have repeatedly tried to resolve the issue, but was told, "You signed the contract at the counter, so there's nothing we can do." At pickup, the representative claimed that I had to either pay a €5,000 deposit or €60 per day for insurance, despite my existing third-party and credit card coverage. Research later showed the maximum deposit for my booked vehicle should have been only €1,500. I had already prepaid for both the rental and insurance, yet due to misleading information and pressure at the counter, I was charged an additional $476 (for five days instead of the four I used). We booked a VW Tiguan (a standard SUV) "or similar" for 11 days in July from Sixt in the Dublin Airport and we prepaid about 743 euros. I contacted Sixt long before the pick-up date and asked them to make sure that the vehicle we were assigned had at least as much luggage capacity as the Tiguan. They undertook to put a note on the file. When we arrived at the counter to pick up the car, we were told that they were very busy and that the selection of available vehicles was small. They did not have a Tiguan available and it appeared they didn't actually have another vehicle in the same class. The first vehicle they offered us (at an additional cost) was a sedan with limited luggage capacity. It seems to me that a sedan cannot be considered "similar" to a standard SUV and therefore Sixt was not upholding their side of the agreement. The only option we were given that had similar luggage capacity to the Tiguan was to upgrade to a more expensive vehicle and pay the difference. We were offered a Dacia Jogger for an additional cost of 495 euros (increasing the cost by over 65%!). At that stage we really had no choice but to accept the upgrade and pay the extra. We needed a vehicle to get to our accommodation for the night. I have contacted Sixt at the Dublin Airport and they have offered me a 50 euro credit next time I rent from Sixt at the Dublin Airport. The chances of me taking advantage of that are non-existent. The reply basically said that I could book and prepay whatever I wanted but Sixt would provide whatever they felt like (at an additional cost if applicable). I have also contacted Sixt Ireland Customer Support and Sixt Germany Customer Support. Apart from an undertaking to look into the situation and get back to me from Sixt Germany, I have heard nothing since (after a month), not even from Sixt Germany, and have not been offered any kind d of compensation. It seems to me that Sixt did not uphold their side of the contract. Since they didn't have a Tiguan "or similar" vehicle available, they should have provided an appropriate vehicle at no cost to us. UPDATE: After posting this and other negative reviews about my Sixt experience, I was contacted by Patrick Courtney, Operations Manager, Sixt, Dublin, Ireland. I provided Mr Courtney with copies of all of the correspondence I had exchanged with Sixt people in the various locations. Mr Courtney decided that it was appropriate, in the circumstances, to refund the full upgrade fee of 494 Euros. If you rent from Sixt Dublin, be sure to buy full comprehensive insurance and/or inspect every inch of the vehicle before you rent, including the very bottom of each body panel. I recently returned to Ireland for a family funeral. It was tough to rent a car as the All-Ireland and a major Golfing tournament were on the same weekend. Sixt was the only company that had a vehicle available at Dublin Airport. It was a very small car, and the rates were three times higher than the following weekend. We had no choice and had to book it. We phoned on Monday to extend the booking by one day. We quoted an extra 68euros over the phone. When the bill came in, we were charged $200. We have contacted them via email, and they are saying the $200 charge is correct. How can they get away with this, overcharging like this? Dishonest and no customer service. read more

On a mission to charge you for damage. I collected my car at their Dublin compound and whilst i did not take photos, when i returned the car after 3 days, which for the bulk of the time was parked in a covered car park, they found a slight chip on the offside wing mirror which they accused me of causing. Their incompetence of not picking this damage up on the previous hires, is now at my cost and even though i hire from them about 6 times a year, they were adamant that the 100 euro charge remain. They may be great at the front desk and the hire experience cant be faulted, however their back office customer service is very poor and they have no concept of customer loyalty or value. I have already booked my next hire with one of their competitiors so bye bye SIXT, thats what 100 euros has cost you. read more

We had a very bad experience with Sixt Ireland, which almost ruined our family vacation. We rented a car online, paid with a debit card, and all looked good--until we tried to pick up the car, where a month-long ordeal began. The guys at the local Sixt office in Dublin City Centre refused to hand us our reserved and already prepaid car. The reason was that we did not have a "real" (physical) credit card present--only a physical debit card and my usual Apple Pay (with which I pay for pretty much everything, everywhere). This has never been a problem anywhere else in my 40+ years. We tried to find a compromise (like paying a deposit, adding extra insurance, negotiating, etc.), but nothing could sway the two employees. At least we were promised a refund. And they lied to us--claiming that no other car rental company in Ireland would give us a car (more on that later!). Interestingly enough, it got worse from here. Much worse, in fact. We left completely deflated and angry, and my daughter was very upset. We were all angry--not only about not getting the reserved car and our holiday possibly being ruined--but also about how cold and heartless the Sixt employees treated us. I work with people all day professionally, and I would have presented my own personal credit card in such a situation to save a family from that kind of despair. Our holiday would have been completely ruined. We had bookings all across Ireland over the next 10 days and no option of getting there without a car. The only upside in this whole saga was that, despite their insistence that we wouldn't be able to rent a car anywhere without a physical credit card, we did get a car just 15 minutes later from another rental company. They only required a deposit of €250, treated us like human beings, and our holiday was saved. But the story doesn't end here--in fact, it got even more upsetting. After returning home, I noticed that we still hadn't received a refund from Sixt. So I contacted their support. They insisted that I would not get a refund (contrary to what the local employees had said). Apparently, somewhere in the fine print, the credit card requirement was stated. Which is completely laughable--who reads 19 pages of fine print before booking? Especially for a prepaid car. We argued a bit. Things seemed to take a turn for the better (they didn't!). They promised me a credit voucher for the full amount for a future rental, which I accepted. It wasn't ideal--far from it, in fact--but I was so annoyed I settled for it. Fun thing is, they never followed through. Despite contacting them every 1-2 weeks for the voucher, they never replied. We just got ghosted, and I never heard back from them. Absolutely dreadful experience. We rent annually from Dublin airport and Expedia offered this company for our March 2024 trip. When we arrived we were informed it would be a €5000 deposit because cars are always being stolen and taken to UK. Not prepared to pay that type of deposit I was told if I bought their insurance policy it would reduce it to €2500. We opted to do this. Then we needed to use the insurance and were told, oh, it doesn't actually insure the car it only serves to reduce the deposit (It was €400 for 10 days). However in purchasing their insurance that does not insure the car you make the insurance offered by your creditor or travel company null and void. It like a shady side hustle they have going on steal folks hard earned money. And there is nothing your bank can do about it. read more

The car that i used was for a direct out and back trip and i cant understand how it picked up new damage on the bumper and driver door. I also questioned the fact that the car was unclean when i received it. They were not interested in working this out and now a collection agent is threatening me with court litigation. Rented a car with full insurance. Day of the return we lost the keys and notified Sixt. they arrange to have the car towed. They charged us $1300 USD. Our mistake I get they want to take advantage of us. Fast forward 5 week and an additional charge of $4600 appears on my card. There was no damage to the car. Called Sixt customer service and they couldn't help because it was a franchisee in Dublin. The phone number I called was on the Sixt Dublin website. Do not go anywhere near these guys. My wife and I recently came back from Ireland and rented a car at Sixt Dublin Airport. Since I had booked months in advance, I was able to secure an automatic station wagon (golfing trip and needed space) for less than $300 for 8 days. Since I was using my Chase Sapphire card, I did not pay for any insurance. I knew going in that Sixt would place a 5,000 Euro hold on my card if I did not take the insurance, so that was not a problem since I knew it prior to renting. The woman at the counter was pleasant and did not try to upsell the car or push insurance at all. In fact I didn't even have to show my letter from Chase indicating they offered primary rental car insurance in Ireland. They also did add an additional 100 Euro gas deposit, but I knew that prior as well. I returned the car with no damage and the other deposits were refunded pretty much immediately. I would not hesitate to rent from Sixt again! The biggest piece of advice is to understand what the requirements are before you get to the counter! read more

I booked a last minute trip over to see my dying Gran, I've prepaid in full with the full insurance however I didn't have a credit card with me I was explaining that I was a victim of fraud recently and cancelled my cards so I only had a revolut card with me. Vitali at the counter was rude, uninterested in helping and to be honest came across like he couldn't care any less if he tried. I asked for a refund again he informed me that I need to email customer support team as they are the ones processing refunds he told me it will take up to 5 days from sending the request in. I'm on the day 15th working dsy now and getting nowhere I asked to raise this as a complaint and asked what are my referral rights as a customer this has been ignored as well. I rented the car in Dublin airport on 3rd of May, 2033. I returned the car two days later in the same condition with full tank. Paid all tolls etc. Now is 26th of May. In my opinion this is the most corrupt car rental firm i have ever had the misfortune to have delt with. After a 6 1/2 hour flight tricked me into services (insurances) i didn't need or want. They were covered by my credit card company. The result a c. 300% increase in my rental costs. All their customer service does is try to justify by saying you signed the agreement. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. This company looks attractive however their pricees are nominally lower than the competition and the money you would save is not worth the hassle of dealing with this company. I pre-booked and paid for the rental online. Spoke with Adeline on arrival and she was very helpful. She didn't try to upsell me on anything although I had already paid for full coverage and toll fees etc. ad the keys in my hands when I was informed that I needed to pay an additional 100e for a fuel deposit. No issues there until I was informed that they would only accept Credit cards. I had prepaid with my mastercard debit which they then wouldn't accept. They also wouldn't accept either of my Union Pay Credit cards (widely used in Asia). The entire booking had to be cancelled due to this. I was told to contact customer service to get my refund for the booking. When I did so, I was offered credit for the amount of the booking. I explained to them that this was an insufficient remedy as I would encounter the same issue the next time I returned home and I wasn't going to take out another credit card just to be able to rent a car with them. This was completely ignored. No response. I contacted customer service 2 further times in an attempt to recoup my losses and all further inquiries were completely ignored. I have since initiated a fraud claim with my provider. Note, following this, I walked to literally the next counter in the airport (Enterprise), made a new booking and was in the car within 20 minutes with no hassle. read more

Seemed like a good experience picking the car up, using it for three days in Ireland and then using one of multiple drop locations offered for a supposedly nominal (35-40 Euro according to the first agent) drop fee. But then the mysterious $396 charge (on a $423 rental agreement) with no receipt, and SIXT makes sure you cannot reach them via phone, email or social media. Sixt state that "The Customer is our boss." I certainly don't think so! Below is am email I sent to the joint CEOs. I am writing to inform you of how I have been violated and have been the victim of a systematic SCAM perpetrated upon me by your company. And as the new joint CEOs you deserve to know about this. I arrived from Chicago to Dublin Airport on Thursday July 29th 2021. I had booked a car directly from Sixt using your app and not thru a third party and had paid in full. I declined insurance as I have insurance coverage thru my credit card company.  Upon arrival, I had explained this to the counter agent and the rehearsed scripted response from the Sixt agent was; "Do you have a letter from the credit card company showing that they are providing insurance coverage?" I clearly didn't have this document. Why?  Because when I declined insurance in the app, this insurance coverage document was neither requested nor listed as an additionally required document as a precondition of rental. All that was requested to be produced at the counter, as per your online checklist, was a driver's licence and the same credit card used to make the reservation.  My answer to the agent when they requested this additional document at the counter was that this was not shown as a required document in the app nor was it listed on the online checklist. THIS IS INTENTIONAL. When I couldn't produce this document instantaneous, and by the way, most credit card company will snail mail these Ts and Cs to you, I was told that I would have to pay a minimum of €27 per day for the duration of my car hire, otherwise they would not rent me the vehicle. This is a systematic and premeditated upsell tactic and coersion, taking advantage of a customer getting off a transatlantic flight with no option to agree to the upsell. It is premeditated, systematic, and planned. I was furious that I was being abused and taken advantage of by this systematic an abusive approach. I complained and decided to cancel my rental and was told that if I did that, then I wouldn't even get a full refund. This is coercion and extortion! This is an abusive practice by the Sixt personal and management at Dublin Airport, and while I was at the counter, the same script was bing repeated over and over again to more customers, and I could sense the joy in the Sixt personal as they took advantage of more and more customers. I would even go as far as to say that the agents were being compensated by receiving commission on the upsell. I am so upset by this abusive practice that I am writing to you to inform you of this, as when I visited your website and saw how you say that the customer is our boss, it is clear to me from a corporate perspective you truly believe this. However, the reality is very different, and because of this behavior... I will NEVER again rent with Sixt, and I will shout from the roof tops to everyone and anyone who will listen about this experience and how I was screwed over by Sixt. I suggest this practice is immediately stopped. I suggest that you inform customers that if insurance is declined due to alternative coverage that a line item is added to the checklist to produce such documentary evidence upon visiting the counter. I also suggest you stop this abusive practice on already exhausted customers of holding them hostage to either no car and no refund unless you pay €27 per day extra. I suggest you tell the personal and management to stop using the script... "Well if you had read the Ts and Cs of the agreement you would have seen that this was required." I ask you, who in their right mind has time to ready EULAs or T&Cs in this busy world we live in. I'm renting a car not buying a home! Make it obvious customers who decline in your insurance that proof of alternative insurance is required, or better still, align with credit card companies and remove this burden from your customers. Don't hide it and embed it in Ts&Cs that nobody has the time to read and screw your customers on the back end. Please take action on this. Exceptionally long waits, both at the rental counter in the airport as well as at the car depot to pick up the car. Staff has ZERO sense of urgency, actually saw another customer jump the wall to the adjacent Hertz rental because they were waiting for so long. read more

Requested a compact manual from SIXT car rental online suitable for 3 people and checked bags. When I got to Dublin they were very efficient and had a 6 speed Renault ready to go. The car was roomy, diesel, shifted smoothly, and turned off whenever the car stopped. With the narrow roads and rock walls inches from the sides it was perfect and got excellent mileage. We did buy the full insurance coverage which cost about $55/day and glad of it. Fortunately the Ireland drivers are very good and with patience I managed to keep the car scratch free. Check in was effortless and would recommend SIXT. read more

Charged me $1000 instead of the initial $600 quoted without giving any reason. The rental agreement signed at the airport was $805 which I signed without paying attention as it was 4.30am. Return was supposed to be to Shannon airport but actually was in Shannon town, which I was only notified of on the day of my flight. Thankfully I had left enough time to make the additional trip. The Sixt employee then had to drive me to the airport in the rental car. Very close quarters for covid times. The customer service representative then could not explain the differences between the three charges when I called them up. Hard to call this anything but a scam. read more

Sixt Rental Car has terrible reviews worldwide for a reason. I highly recommend that you not rent cars from Sixt. After checking their reviews, I find that many people have experienced Sixt charging their credit cards improperly and then stonewalling them when they try to talk with a manager. My family rented a van from Sixt Rental Card in Dublin, Ireland in August 2023. The van broke down and even though I paid a separate charge for Roadside Service 24/7, no service or help in any way was provided despite repeated calls for assistance. At first I thought their lack of assistance was due to ineptness; but, instead after six months of managers refusing my call to ask why I was charged for the full rental, I believe that Sixt routinely charges customer credit cards improperly and then management refuses to talk to customers in hopes that they will wear you down. Sixt charged my card for the full rental even though the vehicle was undriveable after the first day of the rental. Sixt left us stranded in Belfast after repeated calls to Roadside Service for help. They then promised a replacement vehicle which they never provided. When I went to the Belfast City airport to pick up the replacement vehicle that was promised, Sixt wanted to charge me for second vehicle which included a drop charge for returning the vehicle to Sixt Dublin. The worst part of the whole experience was that Sixt personnel lied about my calls to Roadside Service and five different managers over the course of 6 months refused to discuss the charges they processed on my credit card. In an email they claimed I told them that the vehicle was too large to drive and I voluntarily walked away from the rental. My normal everyday car is larger than the Sixt rental van and I routinely rent large vans traveling in Europe so I was shocked to hear their fabricated claim. They also stated that I walked away from the rental on the last day of the rental term which is not true. I have emails and phone records of calls to Sixt Roadside Service pleading for assistance a day after I pickup the van. Before I left Ireland, I went to Sixt Airport to talk with a manager; but, they refused to talk with me. When I returned to the USA, I called and emailed Sixt many times over a six month period with promises that a manager would call me back which they never did. I have reached out to an attorney to explore my legal options because based on reviews, Sixt routinely takes advantage of travelers like they did my family. I almost never write bad reviews; but, this experience was so bad that customers need to be warned. read more

If I could give a ZERO or Negative star rating I would! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! I was legitimately the victim of a crime on their behalf. I purchased car insurance prior to my trip as I am from the United States and my plan here does not cover me in Ireland. Regardless, they insisted that I had to have either $2000 or $5000 charged to my card as some type of security deposit that would be "refunded" when I returned the vehicle. The $2000 was said to be for those who have coverage, the $5000 amount was for those taking their insurance. I was given absolutely no choice if I wanted my car rental. As bad luck would have it I broke a taillight backing up in my hotel parking garage on the way to returning the vehicle. I made them aware of the damage when I return the car. This car had previous damage (dents and scratches) in the same are area BEFORE i rented it. I have photographic proof. I had to chase them for weeks to find out what the repair would cost me. Finally, a fleet rep told me it was 250 euros "in total". A few months later, I find a charge for over $2100 on my card. They doubled back and charged me for pre-existing damages insisting that was responsible. When was the last time a broken taillight in a Toyota cost over 2 thousand dollars. No responses from their customer service. The fleet representative I dealt with was insisting that I was wrong despite evidence to the contrary. As you can see from other Yelp reviews and Trip Advisor reviews these people do this all the time. They are corrupt and they are criminals. American tourists in particular should be beware as we are prime targets for these predators. read more

My rental car had multiple issues. The biggest issue was an expired tax tag. I received one fine notice so far. Being a weekend, it is impossible to get hold of sixt. Once I realized what the fine was about, the tax badge is 3 months overdue. The car also had a big dent and a large scrape running the full length of the drivers door. The rear bumper was also buckled. I made sure to take photos and time stamp all of this so I don't get blamed. The windshield wipers were worn out and just smeared the water during rain making visibility difficult. Finally the key fob battery was low and gave a warning every time I used it. Our family rented from Sixt for a recent trip to Ireland. We rented a minivan "Nissan Quest or similar". The first car that they gave us was a 5 seater SUV. We asked for a larger car and they gave us a 7 seater SUV. We couldn't fit all 6 of us and our luggage in the car so we asked for a larger car and after approximately 45 minutes were told that they didn't have anything bigger. When I asked what my options were they said that they could refund us our money and we could shop around for something else. I mentioned that my credit card had already been charged and then they backpedaled and said that they couldn't refund our money and our only option was to rent a second car. We ended up cramming all of us and our luggage into the 7 seater SUV for the week....riding with almost no leg room and everyone except the driver holding something on their lap. To top things off, after we finally left the airport we noticed that the gas tank was only 1/4 full. We took a picture of the gas gauge, filled up the tank and saved the receipt which showed the date and time that we had filled up. When we turned the car in the attendant took pictures of everything that we had and we were told that we would be refunded for the gas. It has been two weeks and we have heard nothing. I would never rent from Sixt again and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Following up to empower others: Sixt has been unresponsive and continues to attempt to charge my husband's account ($2600) We are now filing fraud reports against Sixt Dublin with different government agencies, including the FBI. No one should have to go through this and I feel for everyone else in these reviews that has had a bad experience. Fortunately, our bank (Chase) agrees that this is fraudulent and is working with us to get the money back. read more
