Even with that, I reluctantly gave the second star as my experience from pick up to drop off was without issue! This location is situated away from the airport and requires a shuttle to and from. Shuttle is easy to pick up at both areas and is constantly running. The line inside fills up quickly as every bus load has around 20 folks, all who are after a car, majority automatic cars. If that is the case, be prepared to wait on those busy weekend days, even if you reserved. We reserved an automatic and initially was told they were waiting, however got lucky as someone returned one as we were getting to the counter. Our reservation saved us, so I highly recommend reserving a car. Service at the counter was fine. They were not friendly, nor un-friendly. It was as efficient as it could be and ended with keys in hand. The car was solid. A Skoda model that got great gas mileage and had plenty of interior space. It was nice, even though odd, to be directed to return with the gas tank empty. Due to our limited amount of driving, I returned with half a tank, and weirdly suspect that has something to do with the additional charges. As for the return, all seemed fine. Pulled in, parked, got it looked at, printed receipt in hand and then hopped on the awaiting shuttle. None the wiser to the pending $250 that was coming my way without explanation mere days later. I have since reached out to Hertz twice, but have gotten no response at all. I am now disputing with my AMEX as an unauthorized charge seeing that I have gotten no response or detail as to the reason for the charge. These are always the same horror stories. Completely ruins the overall experience, which for the most part, was wildly successful and positive. Overall, I won't recommend to not rent from Hertz at all, but be mindful and cautious.

We contacted Expedia who told us that Hertz might cancel our reservation, so we asked them to put a note on our reservation that we'd be arriving a day late. 3. We tried calling Hertz Ireland twice at high cost long distance rates. In both cases the calls dropped after 15 minutes on hold. 4. I also sent an email letting Hertz Ireland know that we'd be a day late and to please not cancel the reservation. 5. Upon arrival we were told that we'd receive the rental for the original booking amount. 6. At this time, jet lagged, I did not cop on that it was actually approximately THREE TIMES higher than our original reservation. Predatory company.

We rent all over the place and usually have to wait HOURS! So service and efficiency was great. Our little car was a happy little car until we drove out to Clifden midway through our trip. We hit a rock in the road and immediately got a flat. We were super lucky because we were near a hotel and had an area to pull over. Ireland is full of long stretches of narrow roads so luckily we didn't end up in a dangerous area. Anyways we were missing the tool to take off the lugnut protectors (small narrow tool). They are anti theft protection so we ended up having to borrow a screwdriver and pry them off. We would not have been able to do this unless we were near the hotel. Again, lucky. Got the donut on, drove the 33 min to clifden no problem. The next day we called budget to figure out what to do about the tire. They had us pay to replace it (80€) and reimbursed us at the end of the trip. Kept the receipt and had no problem. We had low tire pressure on the way back to the airport but that didn't result in any issues. Returning the car was fine but we only had half a tank for lack of time. 54€ penalty. It's 40€ for a full tank. Annoying but normal. Overall it was kinda expensive but we didn't book ahead of time so we should have done that!

While it was annoying, the staff was patient and allowed us time to call our credit card and provide the proof of coverage. The rest of the checkout experience was smooth. The vehicle was quite dirty outside and in need of a wash, but still functional, Unfortunately, our poor experience started with needing support providing estimates to my insurance provider. I had no problems accepting the damage claims do the vehicle (scratches) nor issues with Budget deducting from the deposit. What bothered me was that it took two weeks and six email follow ups to receive a response that it will cost €100 for a copy of the repair estimate that my insurance needed to reimburse me. I only regret not having read the Yelp reviews prior to using their services.

Skip this place and rent somewhere that doesn't try to nickel and dime you for everything…read more We rented our car for airport pick up and were told to shuttle over to their place near the airport since they were too busy. But we still got charged for airport pickup fees The waiting room was packed and we waited over an hour just to see a rep. Reps try to upsell you the whole time; very annoying process. It was like the place was herding people In and out like cattle. Not pleasant. Car was basic and got us around. We definitely felt like we wasted a lot of time here during pick up day and that was a damper.

My experience with Europcar was, in my view, a classic example of a bait-and-switch sales practice…read morethat resulted in me paying substantially more than the price under which I originally reserved my vehicle. Upon arriving to collect my rental, I was subjected to significant pressure to purchase Europcar's insurance coverage. After waiting nearly an hour, what began as an approximately €300 rental ultimately exceeded €1,000, largely as a result of insurance that I felt I was coerced into purchasing. The Europcar representative informed me that my credit card's rental car insurance would not provide coverage in the Republic of Ireland. This statement directly contradicted both my previous experience using the same credit card for rentals and the guidance I had received from my credit card provider, which specifically instructed me to decline the rental company's insurance. I was further advised that the only way Europcar would accept my existing coverage was if I immediately produced a written letter from my credit card company confirming coverage. Given the time difference and the inability to reach a representative while standing at the rental counter, this demand was effectively impossible to satisfy. I observed multiple customers in the same position, attempting unsuccessfully to contact their credit card companies while facing the same ultimatum. This suggests that my experience was not an isolated incident but part of a broader business practice. In addition, I was incorrectly informed that the vehicle I rented could not display speed in miles per hour rather than kilometers per hour. This was false, as changing the display required nothing more than adjusting a standard vehicle setting. The representative's lack of familiarity with the vehicle unnecessarily added to an already frustrating experience. The cumulative effect of these actions left me with the reasonable impression that customers are intentionally placed in circumstances where they feel they have no practical choice but to purchase expensive additional products after arriving to collect a prepaid reservation. Such practices raise serious concerns regarding transparency, fair dealing, and informed consumer consent. I am also considering filing formal complaints with the appropriate consumer protection and regulatory authorities and will evaluate any additional legal remedies that may be available. Based on this experience, I have lost confidence in Europcar and will not rent from the company again. I hope Europcar will take this complaint seriously and review both its policies and the conduct of its rental staff to ensure that future customers are treated fairly and transparently.

We booked a rental car through Travelocity with Payless car rental. We quoted €329 including all taxes and fees for our rental. When we got to the rental desk itself, there were additional fees in the rental contract. We asked about these and were told that upon return of the rental vehicle those would be removed from the invoice. They were not removed. We have had numerous emails back-and-forth with Payless and they refused to honor the amount they quoted with Travelocity and refused to reverse the charges that they claimed would be reversed upon return of the rental vehicle. To be clear, these are taxes and fees (which were specifically covered in our quote) not related to additional insurance charges. Travelocity categorically refused to help, as they said the rental agreement was with Payless. In addition, they have exactly one person running the rental desk. People who rented with full service companies instead of payless got priority; so it took them over 2 hours to locate the vehicle and deliver the keys to us. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these shysters. You went with the low rate, but that's not actually what you have to pay... Book with somebody else.

There was a bit of a language barrier with the girl that was helping me, so after I asked her the 4th or 5th time to repeat what she said SLOWLY, the manager came over and said he didn't like the TONE I was taking with his employee. Not to ask how he can help. I asked to see a supervisor and was told he was not in. Then after I found a card that worked ,the girl helping me charged me an additional 90.00 EURO deposit without telling she was doing so. I'm pretty sure that's elliegal. I would recommend public transport instead,or expect to get raked over the coals slowly. The girl helping me and the girl next to her who was helping someone else thought it was very funny that I was upset and I had no one to come get me. Either rent the car for 10 days for 1000.00 euro or tuff shit. The car was bought and paid for 6 months prior. I would say the younger generation has no respect for their elders and have NO CLUE about customer service. Don't waisted your time or money. And if you have to go to the counter bring a solicitor and maybe a translator.

I wish I had read the reviews before renting from them. What a scam!…read more They are charging me for damage I did not cause. It was a stressful process, and now I am stuck with a 2K charge. If I were responsible for the damage, the 'estimate' they provided is highly overpriced. The vehicle was covered in damage when I received it, and I am being charged to fix it all. When I pointed out the damage, prior to leaving the lot, they couldn't care less. The wipers barely worked and caused a lot of issues when I was driving in the almost constant rain. One point I had to pull over because I couldn't see. Horrible experience, and I will never rent from Avis again.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!…read more And if you have rented from Avis Dublin and you are dealing with questionable / fraudulent damage claims, please share your experience directly at avisirelandscam@gmail.com. I am putting together a case against these thieves. Similar to others, I had a horrific experience and have got myself entangled in their lucrative claim circle. After immense pressure to get the expensive insurance, I declined and put down an absorbent amount for a deposit / hold of $5k. After I returned the vehicle, I received a note about damage to the bumper for a 26-50mm (1-2 inches). I disputed this claim immediately and truly know I did not cause this minor damage. Given the possibility that it may have happened while I had the car e.g. valet, while it was parked, etc. I asked for additional information to demonstrate / prove that it happened within my care. This local Dublin office has been completely unresponsive, other than to give me a ludicrous breakdown of the repair fees. No proof that it happened within my care. I would also note that the scratch is so minor, as seen in the picture, I or anybody wouldn't have noticed it at pick up for a rental car. You're typically looking for more material issues, not little tiny wear and tear that you see on every single rental car you've ever had. Now let's get into the breakdown in the charge for said tiny scratch. Not only did they have the audacity to put a bogus invoice together for around $1,600 usd, they also charged a depreciation fee for another few hundred, bringing the total charge to over $2k for a tiny scratch that they have no concrete way of even demonstrating happened while I had the vehicle. It gets worse. The same company they (Avis IE) went to for the auto body work quote is owned by the same gentleman who owns Avis Ireland!!!! So to recap, step 1. Over pressure on insurance., step 2. Make fraudulent claims of damage that is way over emphasized and really just normal wear and tear, step 3, get a quote from a company that you also own with rates that are just absurd., Step 4. hold people hostage because they took the option for a high hold on their card. Since I'm in it for the long game, in my next post, I will list out all of the articles of incorporation and research on the auto repair shop names, owners, pictures, etc. I see myself as a principled fair person, but what they did is wrong and I will take this as far as I need to go to expose them and get justice.
