Even with that, I reluctantly gave the second star as my experience from pick up to drop off was without issue! This location is situated away from the airport and requires a shuttle to and from. Shuttle is easy to pick up at both areas and is constantly running. The line inside fills up quickly as every bus load has around 20 folks, all who are after a car, majority automatic cars. If that is the case, be prepared to wait on those busy weekend days, even if you reserved. We reserved an automatic and initially was told they were waiting, however got lucky as someone returned one as we were getting to the counter. Our reservation saved us, so I highly recommend reserving a car. Service at the counter was fine. They were not friendly, nor un-friendly. It was as efficient as it could be and ended with keys in hand. The car was solid. A Skoda model that got great gas mileage and had plenty of interior space. It was nice, even though odd, to be directed to return with the gas tank empty. Due to our limited amount of driving, I returned with half a tank, and weirdly suspect that has something to do with the additional charges. As for the return, all seemed fine. Pulled in, parked, got it looked at, printed receipt in hand and then hopped on the awaiting shuttle. None the wiser to the pending $250 that was coming my way without explanation mere days later. I have since reached out to Hertz twice, but have gotten no response at all. I am now disputing with my AMEX as an unauthorized charge seeing that I have gotten no response or detail as to the reason for the charge. These are always the same horror stories. Completely ruins the overall experience, which for the most part, was wildly successful and positive. Overall, I won't recommend to not rent from Hertz at all, but be mindful and cautious.

Beware!! Avoid Enterprise car rental at Dublin airport if you can. I've had really good experiences…read morewith Enterprise in the US, but this agency doesn't play by the same rulebook. Their cars are rented out in a dimly lit parking structure, but when you return the car, it's in an open air car park. When we returned the car, the person checking us in did a very cursory look at the car, but then honed in on small 'nick' in the tire (tyre over there), as if he knew what he was looking for. I inspected the car before leaving the airport parking structure, but without getting down to the ground with a flashlight, there's no way I would have seen it. I'm positive that we didn't cause this tire damage since we were on smooth paved roads the entire time of our 4 day rental. I didn't have a choice but to sign off on the forms at the time because we needed to get to our flight. This is a scam! Subsequent web searching (on Yelp and on Trip Advisor) brought up similar issues reported by other renters, specifically with the Enterprise Dublin airport agency. If you must rent from this company, then it behooves you to take pictures of absolutely everything and make sure Enterprise accepts these picture before you drive away. Yes, a lot of extra work, especially when you want to get on with your travel, but could save you $ later. Have a look closer the the Yelp reviews which detail similar issues. This one on Trip Advisor was about windshield damage, but there are many others related to other issues people have had. https://www.tripadvisor.ie/ShowUserReviews-g186605-d27492114-r959953813-Car_Rental_Dublin_Airport-Dublin_County_Dublin.html

We rent all over the place and usually have to wait HOURS! So service and efficiency was great. Our little car was a happy little car until we drove out to Clifden midway through our trip. We hit a rock in the road and immediately got a flat. We were super lucky because we were near a hotel and had an area to pull over. Ireland is full of long stretches of narrow roads so luckily we didn't end up in a dangerous area. Anyways we were missing the tool to take off the lugnut protectors (small narrow tool). They are anti theft protection so we ended up having to borrow a screwdriver and pry them off. We would not have been able to do this unless we were near the hotel. Again, lucky. Got the donut on, drove the 33 min to clifden no problem. The next day we called budget to figure out what to do about the tire. They had us pay to replace it (80€) and reimbursed us at the end of the trip. Kept the receipt and had no problem. We had low tire pressure on the way back to the airport but that didn't result in any issues. Returning the car was fine but we only had half a tank for lack of time. 54€ penalty. It's 40€ for a full tank. Annoying but normal. Overall it was kinda expensive but we didn't book ahead of time so we should have done that!

But we still got charged for airport pickup fees The waiting room was packed and we waited over an hour just to see a rep. Reps try to upsell you the whole time; very annoying process. My experience with Europcar was, in my view, a classic example of a bait-and-switch sales practice…read morethat resulted in me paying substantially more than the price under which I originally reserved my vehicle. Upon arriving to collect my rental, I was subjected to significant pressure to purchase Europcar's insurance coverage. After waiting nearly an hour, what began as an approximately €300 rental ultimately exceeded €1,000, largely as a result of insurance that I felt I was coerced into purchasing. The Europcar representative informed me that my credit card's rental car insurance would not provide coverage in the Republic of Ireland. This statement directly contradicted both my previous experience using the same credit card for rentals and the guidance I had received from my credit card provider, which specifically instructed me to decline the rental company's insurance. I was further advised that the only way Europcar would accept my existing coverage was if I immediately produced a written letter from my credit card company confirming coverage. Given the time difference and the inability to reach a representative while standing at the rental counter, this demand was effectively impossible to satisfy. I observed multiple customers in the same position, attempting unsuccessfully to contact their credit card companies while facing the same ultimatum. This suggests that my experience was not an isolated incident but part of a broader business practice. In addition, I was incorrectly informed that the vehicle I rented could not display speed in miles per hour rather than kilometers per hour. This was false, as changing the display required nothing more than adjusting a standard vehicle setting. The representative's lack of familiarity with the vehicle unnecessarily added to an already frustrating experience. The cumulative effect of these actions left me with the reasonable impression that customers are intentionally placed in circumstances where they feel they have no practical choice but to purchase expensive additional products after arriving to collect a prepaid reservation. Such practices raise serious concerns regarding transparency, fair dealing, and informed consumer consent. I am also considering filing formal complaints with the appropriate consumer protection and regulatory authorities and will evaluate any additional legal remedies that may be available. Based on this experience, I have lost confidence in Europcar and will not rent from the company again. I hope Europcar will take this complaint seriously and review both its policies and the conduct of its rental staff to ensure that future customers are treated fairly and transparently.

We booked a rental car through Travelocity with Payless car rental. We quoted €329 including all taxes and fees for our rental. When we got to the rental desk itself, there were additional fees in the rental contract. We asked about these and were told that upon return of the rental vehicle those would be removed from the invoice. They were not removed. We have had numerous emails back-and-forth with Payless and they refused to honor the amount they quoted with Travelocity and refused to reverse the charges that they claimed would be reversed upon return of the rental vehicle. To be clear, these are taxes and fees (which were specifically covered in our quote) not related to additional insurance charges. Travelocity categorically refused to help, as they said the rental agreement was with Payless. In addition, they have exactly one person running the rental desk. People who rented with full service companies instead of payless got priority; so it took them over 2 hours to locate the vehicle and deliver the keys to us. Not to ask how he can help. I asked to see a supervisor and was told he was not in. Then after I found a card that worked ,the girl helping me charged me an additional 90.00 EURO deposit without telling she was doing so. I'm pretty sure that's elliegal. I would recommend public transport instead,or expect to get raked over the coals slowly. The girl helping me and the girl next to her who was helping someone else thought it was very funny that I was upset and I had no one to come get me. Either rent the car for 10 days for 1000.00 euro or tuff shit. The car was bought and paid for 6 months prior. I would say the younger generation has no respect for their elders and have NO CLUE about customer service. Don't waisted your time or money.
