Beware!! Avoid Enterprise car rental at Dublin airport if you can. I've had really good experiences…read morewith Enterprise in the US, but this agency doesn't play by the same rulebook. Their cars are rented out in a dimly lit parking structure, but when you return the car, it's in an open air car park. When we returned the car, the person checking us in did a very cursory look at the car, but then honed in on small 'nick' in the tire (tyre over there), as if he knew what he was looking for. I inspected the car before leaving the airport parking structure, but without getting down to the ground with a flashlight, there's no way I would have seen it. I'm positive that we didn't cause this tire damage since we were on smooth paved roads the entire time of our 4 day rental. I didn't have a choice but to sign off on the forms at the time because we needed to get to our flight. This is a scam! Subsequent web searching (on Yelp and on Trip Advisor) brought up similar issues reported by other renters, specifically with the Enterprise Dublin airport agency. If you must rent from this company, then it behooves you to take pictures of absolutely everything and make sure Enterprise accepts these picture before you drive away. Yes, a lot of extra work, especially when you want to get on with your travel, but could save you $ later. Have a look closer the the Yelp reviews which detail similar issues. This one on Trip Advisor was about windshield damage, but there are many others related to other issues people have had. https://www.tripadvisor.ie/ShowUserReviews-g186605-d27492114-r959953813-Car_Rental_Dublin_Airport-Dublin_County_Dublin.html

These include engine failure, the clutch, tires and electrical system. I paid over $200 for the most comprehensive insurance the agent said they offered and an additional fee for roadside assistance. I've been billed $1,700 for the clutch and $144 for a replacement rental, which I never signed or initialed for.

Even with that, I reluctantly gave the second star as my experience from pick up to drop off was without issue! This location is situated away from the airport and requires a shuttle to and from. Shuttle is easy to pick up at both areas and is constantly running. The line inside fills up quickly as every bus load has around 20 folks, all who are after a car, majority automatic cars. If that is the case, be prepared to wait on those busy weekend days, even if you reserved. We reserved an automatic and initially was told they were waiting, however got lucky as someone returned one as we were getting to the counter. Our reservation saved us, so I highly recommend reserving a car. Service at the counter was fine. They were not friendly, nor un-friendly. It was as efficient as it could be and ended with keys in hand. The car was solid. A Skoda model that got great gas mileage and had plenty of interior space. It was nice, even though odd, to be directed to return with the gas tank empty. Due to our limited amount of driving, I returned with half a tank, and weirdly suspect that has something to do with the additional charges. As for the return, all seemed fine. Pulled in, parked, got it looked at, printed receipt in hand and then hopped on the awaiting shuttle. None the wiser to the pending $250 that was coming my way without explanation mere days later. I have since reached out to Hertz twice, but have gotten no response at all. I am now disputing with my AMEX as an unauthorized charge seeing that I have gotten no response or detail as to the reason for the charge. These are always the same horror stories. Completely ruins the overall experience, which for the most part, was wildly successful and positive. Overall, I won't recommend to not rent from Hertz at all, but be mindful and cautious.

Last time we rented in Ireland with Hertz got a tin can of a car, never again. Dooley's gave us a nearly new Ford, 4 doors with manual transmission. From noon Monday through 8am Saturday was about $260 (plus petrol, returned with full tank). We could have used credit card coverage for insurance, but the price was reasonable enough. We booked online before our trip. Irish car hire companies have been know for sleazy sales tactics but seems like they have cleaned up their act. I would rent from Dooley's again. I would award a 5th star if they did not charge for spouse as additional driver. That would differentiate them from the other Irish car hire companies, and would be good for business.

We rent all over the place and usually have to wait HOURS! So service and efficiency was great. Our little car was a happy little car until we drove out to Clifden midway through our trip. We hit a rock in the road and immediately got a flat. We were super lucky because we were near a hotel and had an area to pull over. Ireland is full of long stretches of narrow roads so luckily we didn't end up in a dangerous area. Anyways we were missing the tool to take off the lugnut protectors (small narrow tool). They are anti theft protection so we ended up having to borrow a screwdriver and pry them off. We would not have been able to do this unless we were near the hotel. Again, lucky. Got the donut on, drove the 33 min to clifden no problem. The next day we called budget to figure out what to do about the tire. They had us pay to replace it (80€) and reimbursed us at the end of the trip. Kept the receipt and had no problem. We had low tire pressure on the way back to the airport but that didn't result in any issues. Returning the car was fine but we only had half a tank for lack of time. 54€ penalty. It's 40€ for a full tank. Annoying but normal. Overall it was kinda expensive but we didn't book ahead of time so we should have done that!

I was determined to not go with Hertz again, having had an awful time when I was last in town where they had me driving a old, worn out and jacked up car, and experiencing terrible service, which included high delays in getting my car from the lot, poor management and then difficulties with the return as well. County Car Rentals was entirely different. My experience at the Sixt welcome desk was great, the male employee serving me was attentive to my needs and very thoughtful. I explained that I was in a rush - with a business meeting in town in an hour - so he called up the driver and asked him to hold the bus for me. He directed me out, where I got on the bus and was at my car within minutes. The car itself - an Aventis with automatic transmission - is very good, looks very presentable and drives well. I would recommend renting a car at County Car Rentals.

When I picked up the rental car at the International Terminal 2 in Dublin, I told the female agent that I was planning to return the vehicle with a full tank of petrol as I always do. She proceeded to tell me that it would be far better to just return it without filling it up as Sixt would only charge the same price per liter as the petrol stations. She thus convinced me to just bring the car back and be charged for Sixt filling up the tank. To my unpleasant surprise, when I returned the rental vehicle on May 30, with a 3/4 full tank I was shocked to see the 81 Euro charge for a full tank of petrol. I went to the rental counter to review this issue but they advised me to contact customer service. I thus contacted Sixt Customer Care as directed but only got a rude response from a "Annie" that no billing concerns are addressed by Sixt. In my view the agent at the Dublin airport was very deceptive and basically did a "bait and switch" on me, which I find very unethical. I had my wife and two friends also with me and they agreed completely that this was not what we were told. I thus see this as akin to being robbed for 60 Euro. I have also now seen other reviews of Sixt, along with Google search results, that indicate that there are very often these kinds of unresolved issues that are customers have faced. In addition to tricking me into buying this "prepaid gas" there were also several other issues with the vehicle (Renault): - The remote for the car was out of battery when we picked it up. We had to drive to the Sixt return to get it replaced. - After only 20 minutes of driving a warning indicator signaled that the tire pressure was low; we went to a petrol station to fill air. - Later during the trip the windshield wipers stopped working so we took it to a service station were the technician jiggled the cables and got it to work again. - At one point the car wouldn't accelerate and seemed to be only on electrical power (hybrid engine), so we had to restart it. Thus, this rental experience was not a good or pleasant one and I cannot recommend renting from Sixt. I am sure Sixt representatives would state that I should have read the rental contract details more carefully to find the bait-and-switch there, but I did not expect to be dealing with unethical and deceptive Sixt staff at the airport.
