The Pickled Pig - Best BLT I have had in years!

I randomly found The Pickled Pig on Yelp, and honestly, it felt like striking gold…read more I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich, their version of a turkey Reuben, and it was ridiculously good. Most places default to coleslaw, but these guys went with kraut, because fermented foods are clearly their thing, and I'm so glad they did. That kraut was next-level. Tangy, flavorful, and piled on just right. I might have loved it even more than the turkey, which is wild to say because the smoked turkey itself was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. The pickle boat was also fantastic. Crisp, bright, and full of that homemade, small-batch goodness. You can tell they care about what they're putting on the plate. As much as I loved the food, the service really stood out. The gentleman at the register was kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. He even used my name when he checked back to see how my food was, which is such a simple touch but made a big impression. The only suggestion I'd offer is to update the website pricing to match what's currently being charged in the store. The difference was noticeable, and keeping that consistent would make the experience even smoother. Bottom line: a fantastic, unexpected find with amazing food and standout service. I will absolutely be back.

We came on a Saturday afternoon in between lunch & dinner (hoping to beat any rush) It's definitely busy but we lucked out. We ordered the pickle boat, tuna melt and smoked turkey to share. Hands down our favorite was the tuna melt. I've never had such dilly, Smokey tuna goodness on crispy rye bread. It's alittle pricey... but we get it small business. Lunch came to $59 We left fulfilled

I stopped by for a quick lunch during the week and wanted an easy to-go sandwich. They have a medium sized menu but a lot of different options which makes it a bit hard to pick haha! I decided on a reuben sandwich with all of the fixens inside. I was surprised that I was the only one in there because of the amount of rave reviews. It was a small quaint little place. The employees were suppperrrr nice and gave me a lot of time to think about my order. The vibes in there were very cool with fun music and just overall a good time. Now onto the Reuben. Holy cow! It was juicy and very flavorful, with the perfect amount of sauerkraut. The bread was toasty and the sandwich was nice and warm but not too hot. I think this will be a new spot for me for lunch!

Essentially for me I had waited too long to eat and the idea of waiting longer was a non starter for me. Sandwiches are not my go to food outside the house, it seems silly on some level. However, the sandwich I had was fantastic and well balanced. There was a good amount of everything without it being too much. Sometimes it's too much. This was great. They also had good, homemade or freshly made sides like potato salad and other salads you could get. It was great.

In my senior year of college, I took an art trip to Italy. We spent days exploring the finest…read morecathedrals, churches and museums that Rome and Florence had to offer. But what I remember most of all is the food, particularly ducking into a little shop off a piazza somewhere to grab whatever I could buy and eat while we walked to our next sightseeing destination--a pastry, a slice of pizza, or a sandwich. At Alveo, I almost feel like I'm right back there. The restaurant is small and lively, not a place to linger exactly but a place where you can tell you'll be taken care of. Just as many patrons are ordering to go as they are to stay. And the sandwiches? Good enough to power many, many steps of sightseeing across cobblestones, or just get you through the afternoon at your home or office in Cincinnati. They've absolutely nailed the ingredients on every sandwich I've tried, with high-quality components selected specifically for how they go together. (Like those little sandwich shops in Europe, there are no substitutions here--unless you'd like gluten free bread.) The bread? Unreal how it can hold these constructions together while being soft and delicious. The meats? Perfection. The cheese? Incredible. That pistachio stuff? I see it in my dreams. The one area where Alveo definitely deviates from its European brethren is portion size--these sandwiches are huge! They come in a paper wrapper, inside a to-go box, and believe me, you will probably need it. Each time I've been to Alveo I've ended up eating about half the sandwich for lunch and the rest for dinner, maybe with a snack in between, and felt perfectly satisfied for the day. So, yes, the $20+ price tag might discourage you, but don't let it. It's a $20 investment in a very, very delicious day.

Went back of 4/17 and met the man behind my delicious creation. Tavis Rockwell! Wonderful, interactive man with a touch of sass to go with the class behind his food creations. Tavis offered us tastes of various creations and nothing disappointed. The Italian Beef is insanely good. I was afraid of the possible heat due to the peppers, but it was just enough to many you want and be able to eat more. Greens? I was leery when I was told there is vinegar in them. SOLD!! They were fantastic. Tavis makes a homemade goetta that would make my German ancestors proud. We then learned that Saturday is breakfast all day. He had us at biscuits and gravy. (You can get lunch and dinner items as well, but WHY?). We came back the next morning and split an order that was just enough for two. I had heard that their pop-up dinners sell out very quickly so I was ready the day they were posted and grabbed a few spots for one of their February dates. We arrived and were greeted with a glass of Prosecco and then we found a seat at the long community table set for 20; it was so much fun getting to know the people seated next to us! Dinner was delicious! Four courses-the gnocchi with sausage was our favorite dish of the night.

If you follow them on socials, you can score a seat at the pop-ups. The place is an old house with a lot of character. The food for carryout is fantastic and their bread is fantastic. We live in West Chester and have driven down to there a few times just to pick up delicious dinners. We just attended our first dinner there last Tuesday. Oh My Goodness! What a treat. Jordan greeted us with a glass of Prosecco and directed us where to sit a long table that seats 20. We introduced ourselves to our seatmates and then our first dish arrived. Chef does explain the food before we had each dish, however we wished there was more background and history as to how this place came into being. So expect fantastic food without a lot of details. The first dish was a salad made with all local ingredients. It was so fresh and the dressing made with fresh dill was fantastic. The second dish was a ravioli with northern Italian cheese on a bed of butternut squash puree and brown butter. The pasta was SO delicate and the flavors complimented each other so well. The third dish was a 6 hour braised pork shoulder with ricotta gnocchi in a sauce with Calabrian chilis and I don't know what else. We have been to Italy and all the Italian restaurants in Cincinnati and never had anything like this. It was truly phenomenal. Dessert was a apple upside down cake served warm with whipped cream...fantastic. You bring your own wine, and Jordan is on it by never letting your glass get empty, pouring water, and clearing dishes. Service was so great and she is so friendly and accommodating. The cost was a very reasonable $100/pp and SO worth it. There is no menu, so you go in just devouring what Chef has prepared.
