DO NOT GO TO THIS BUSINESS!!! I SUED THE OWNER AND WON, AND HE STILL HASN'T PAID ME MY MONEY.!!! My experience with this place has been one drawn-out headache of almost a year and a half. I came to Dave when my 2000 CR-V's transmission started acting up. He agree to do a rebuild for $2500 with a 5yr/50,000 mile warranty. At this time I thought he was a good guy, because he was friendly and showed me all the parts he fixed. But the day after he had finished the job and I had paid, my car stopped, the check engine light came on, and the car had to be towed back to the shop. He told me it was a faulty torque converter, and replaced it. The next day the car started shuddering and stalled again. The car went back into the shop for almost 3 weeks, as Dave said he was trying to figure it out. During that time, he let a mutual friend of ours drive my car for 3 days without my knowledge. I found out about this, and was pissed that the car was being driven when the newly rebuilt transmission was already showing some damage. Dave later admitted that this outing "most likely hurt the transmission again," yet was unwilling to take responsibility for the damage that was caused. Instead he ignored my concerns and decided to try putting in a new control module. This of course fails the next day, and I have serious doubts about Dave's workmanship. I went into the shop to demand my money back under the warranty. Dave got angry, started yelling and storming around the shop, and was slamming things down on the desk. I was expecting litigation at this point and recorded this temper-tantrum, in which Dave's admitted that he didn't know what he was doing, that he would not honor the warranty, nor would he admit fault for giving away keys. He offered to fix the car once again, but I left after his outburst with no confidence that he could do anything with Honda's. After that I took the car into Ed's Transmission to check the work, and they found a tranny fluid leak and problems with the mounts. I called Dave one more time to make him fix these problems- the next day the car dropped to 2nd gear at 60 miles an hour on the highway. I took it back to Ed's again, and they told me to get down to the shop with my camera. They told me to look under the car, where I found the same transmission fluid leak, and also an array of parts that were now missing nuts and bolts. He had even welded my exhaust pipe. It was complete laziness- it looked like he took everything apart, lost some bolts, and just said fuck it. I had been anticipating taking this asshole to court, and I won a month ago. He owes me $2500, for which he had 30 days to pay. I still have not seen any money from him. I am out a car and money that I had saved for months. Every bad review on here is true. Dave does shoddy work and does not know how to fix cars other than BMW's. I question if he's ever honored a warranty. He seems nice at first, but his angry outbursts are scary and unwarranted. DO NOT GO HERE EVER!! The owner "Dave" over charged me by 1000$ for a tranny rebuild, then a few days after I picked up my truck I was changing my oil and noticed a bunch of bolts missing from my transmission. Then 2 MONTHS after I had my transmission rebuilt, it shit out and left me stranded so I had it towed back too be repaired again since he gave me a 3 YEAR WARRANTY on the first repair however, it wasnt until he got the truck all torn apart that he rudely informed me that HE WOULD NOT BE HONORING HIS 3 YEAR WARRANTY HE GAVE ME 2 MONTHS PRIOR and that he would be charging me an additional $2000 on top of the $2000 I already paid and gave no reason as too why other than he is a crooked and cheap scumbag. I am not paying $2000 for a transmission that works for 2 months get real. In addition too this, he pulled the 4x4 selector out of my transfer case, welded my exhaust pipes together and fucked my motor up (it ran perfectly fine when I brought it too him) now it runs like crap and blows a ton of smoke. I did not ask him to do these additional things nor did he tell me he was going too and is now trying too charge me for those too!!!!! What a skeezbag!!!!! Also, I went in there the other day too ask why he had done these things and why he would not honor the warranty he gave me in a calm and civilized manor and before I could even speak, he grabbed my by my shirt collar and threw me around the shop all while screaming vulgar and offensive names like "c*cksucker" "sh*thead" "retard" "f*ggot" among others and threw me out before I could even talk too him. The cops had too be called and he has a pending assault charge against him for the incident. I later found out he is a raging alcoholic and as I write this he STILL has my vehicle 3 months later and will not give it back!!! Because he claims I owe him 2 grand despite the warranty he gave me and his incompetence too rebuild a transmission properly. So I am working with my lawyer in order too sue him for a multitude of things and it has been nothing but a massive headache. DONT EVER TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TOO THIS ALCOHOLIC SCUMBAG, HE IS A SUBHUMAN PIECE OF GARBAGE AND WILL TRY TOO RIP YOU OFF AND SCREW YOU OVER AT EVERY TURN !!! While doing some work on my Audi engine and transmission I made a mistake and gouged a bushing inside the oil pump for the transmission. After reading of horror stories caused by the exact part that I had damaged I feared the worst. I took my transmission to Dave after exchanging a few emails about what may be needed for the repair. Dave and his shop took a look at it and told me that the damage was not very bad and that if he did the repair he felt he would simply be taking my money and that it was not needed. He also explained that any work he does he wants to make sure he can stand behind and warranty. My transmission had 175k miles on it and he was worried that any work he did to it might not be able to carry his normal warranty simply due to how old my transmission was. That is incredible. Not only is Dave extremely knowledgeable about my particular transmission he is honest and up front. There are a lot of shops that may have been happy to take my money and then hope for a repeat customer when it blows up not long after the initial "repair." And it doesn't stop there. Dave continued to email with me to give me pointers and suggestions on how to properly install the remaining parts on my transmission and said if I had any questions to feel free to give him a call for help and instructions. For a shop to give a non paying customer this kind of help and service is amazing. Dave has made a loyal customer out of me if I ever need work to be done in the future because I know he will give me the honest truth and only have me pay for the items that truly need replacing. read more

I brought my '04 Subaru Forester to Dave after having it re-built the week before at King's Transmission (see my other review and never EVER use these people for work). I was pretty distraught after paying close to 4 grand for the previous work, which had not even fixed my transmission problem. I was VERY wary of using another transmission shop. But Dave totally put my fears to rest. He took an hour out of his day to take a test drive the car with me and also walk me through his shop and explain how a transmission works in laymen terms. He answered every single question I had (and i had a ton!) AND He gave me ALL my options, which included trying to locate a used transmission and installing it, instead of re-building it. (the other place never told me this was an option) He was also able to diagnose (by sight!) that my right front wheel was not aligned correctly (due to mishandling and improper installation of a wheel hub done previously by Kings). He then helped me source a used transmission from Portland AND suggested I pay them directly, or else he would have to charge me sales tax... who does this? AN HONEST MECHANIC! In the end, he replaced my re-built transmission with a used one for HALF the price of the previous place and the car is driving like new!! He also had it for one day instead of the 2 weeks it took the other place to NOT fix my car. Dave is the best!! Bring your transmission to him and he will TAKE CARE OF YOU! read more

The latest of my vehicles to break down was my 1990 C20 truck. I mainly use it for doing charity work and it seemed like lately every time I drove it something breaks on it and this time it was the transmission. Dave brought it in and informed me that it needed to be rebuilt and quoted me a price. After approving the work Dave and his team got to work on it and had it done in no time at all, he even found a problem with another part and fixed it at no additional charge to me. I have had 2 transmissions replaced at Dave's. The first worked fine, but later the electrical acted up, so I got rid of the car. The second for my VW was absolutlely perfect and the owner, Dave, did extra work to juice up the engine at absolutely no charge. Some dealers and most all-purpose foreign car repair shops send their work to specialists like Dave's Transmission Works. I have a 2015 Corolla, the transmission was damaged, actually completely ruined by a body shop and I had to get a attorney involved. I couldn't use my car for about 7-8 months. Dave was the only person who actually helped me, thanks to his expertise the whole case was resolved. I would highly recommend his service! If I could, I would give him not 5, but 10 stars!
