We decided to stop and check out this location today on our way back from lunch in Scottsdale. We've come to really like DSW for their variety of shoes. Some can be pretty pricey, but if you join their rewards programs you can earn quite a bit of money off of your purchase which is what happened with us today. Service was friendly and the store was clean. We found a pair of shoes we liked and were in and out pretty quick. read more

This location of DSW is located at Desert Ridge. Tons and tons of ample parking. Parking lot and entryway to the store are quite clean. I've been to this location several times. I did not realize I had not written a review here yet. My wife and I came here to look around for new running shoes. Lots of employees, but no one acknowledged our presence at all today despite only a handful of other people being in the entire store. Their variety is mediocre for men's athletic shoes and sizes are not well-organized at all. Maybe the size 12's shouldn't be in the middle of the size 8's and 10's, but maybe that's how it goes at DSW. Their prices really aren't any better than anywhere else either. I think it's often misunderstood that you're going to find sneakers at a bargain price at DSW and that's simply not the case. I looked at the Brooks Ghost 13's this morning and they're $129.95 at DSW and that same price anywhere else. In fact, that's standard MSRP from Brooks so you're not getting any sort of spectacular deal from DSW. I even tried them on and several more employees walked past me (how many people do you actually need working here) and none of them acknowledged me at all. Super unhappy. I visited the store looking for the Betsey Johnson rhinestone sneaker on Monday, February 6th. I found the silver ones. To my dismay, the box was destroyed and the shoes were dirty. The soles were worn. There was no other 8.5 so I approached the cashier to see if there was a discount available. 88.99 for with shoes did not please me. The mgr. Offered me 20% off. Nah, I told her I would just order online through the Ap. She offered me the same discount if I bought them with her and had them shipped to my house. Okay, I'll do that. Today February 8th I received the sneakers. Wow, that was fast. But..... After I open them up I find out these are worn also. Are you kidding me DSW? So selling worn shoes is a thing? I just had to get on here and point out how great DSW is. I am always finding great shoes to keep my wardrobe updated, and I feel good about donating shoes back when I am finished with them. Yesterday as I donated shoes and looked around I was approached by a store employee Noah who offered assistance. He truly went above and beyond to have the item shipped to my home when they didn't have my size. He also immediately helped at the register when things got busy. He and the girl next to him at the register were courteous and patient while we go through our usable coupons. I approached the store manager and shared with her my experience with Noah. It's very rare in todays society to be able to touch, feel and try on anything with online shopping taking so much. This store has everything, womens, kids, men and even those teenagers. Decent DSW, one huge warehouse style that overwhelms the low row of practically stacked shoes. The racks are a little loose in some parts and seemed cheaply out together. The shoes were mixed up and not all under the same area as the shoe on top, which led to accidental discovery of the shoes I wanted. Customer service was standard and minimal. This is a review from shopping a few months ago. I had to go up to the register and through the line 4 times (a common trend with DSW due to their excessive and, at times, burdensome Terms and Conditions of their Rewards and Coupons) to find some socks to utilize some of their holiday bonus cards before they expired. Kylie was EXTREMELY nice, kind, patient, and helpful. She did not get mad when I asked questions and she offered to go out of her way to find some socks that would match the coupon. The store is much cleaner (and newer) than the 3+ Illinois locations I usually shop at. Kudos to management for actually not wanting their place to look dirty and full of liter. read more

Full disclosure - I'm a VIP Elite level shopper at DSW so I consider shoe shopping and deal hunting a recreational pastime. This is definitely the premier place to practice the hobby. Great selection and values can be found, particularly if taking advantage of the free VIP program and utilizing the coupons and offers. Every time I shop at this DSW location, I have a terrible experience. Employees are extremely rude, customer service does NOT exist. I was browsing for ~20 mins looking for a pair of work heels, the same two employees passed me multiple times and not one asked if I needed assistance, but they asked other customers. If you're unfamiliar with DSW, take a look at the colored stickers, then find a sign nearby that explains what percentage off of the item you get. You can get up to 60% off of some items! Well, on December 31st, there was an extra 20% off clearance items!!! I happened to see a beautiful pair of Steve Madden heels great for work. Normally, they were priced at $100 (already lower than the normal price at other stores). The shoes had a blue sticker, which means 30% off, then with the additional 20% off, I ended up paying (with my gift card lol) around $50. My gift card wasn't working and I had no internet (thanks Verizon) in the store to see what was going on with my gift card. Went to return some shoes, I paid with a debit card and should have been able to get cash back on my return. I have talked to my bank, and they have said that as long as you use the debit card, you should be able to get cash back. The cashier, Noah Jones (including last name because he provided it) said that's against policy for the company to provide cash back. That's upsetting because now I have to wait a few days 3 to 5 days to get my money back. I will not be shopping here again, plus the quality is poorly made. read more

Walking up and down the aisle, thinking about where my shoes will take me next helps me relieve some stress. I was greeted on my way in and directed to the exact section that had my needs. The sections are really well organized, and it's easy to see across the aisles to determine what they offer. I didn't know this DSW existed up in North Phoenix until my regular DSW (Scottsdale) called them to hold a pair of cute sandals for me. This DSW appears to be larger than the Scottsdale store, which is always cool (we are talkin' about a shoe store here). The employees were helpful in this location just like the other one. If you've never been in a DSW, it's a pretty large shoe store -- there's something for women, men, and kids here. Casual shoes, sneakers, flip flops, dress shoes, hiking sandals, heels, wedges, and -- THE CLEARANCE SECTION!! Woohoo!! I like this store, but parking leaves A LOT to be desired at this location; this store is in the same lot with a Target. This is a very Stepfordesque DSW, but then again, it is Scottsdale. In fact, this DSW is kind of freaking me out a little bit. I visited this unit on an emergency basis--I flew all the way to Phoenix for our user conference and discovered, when I arrived, that the only shoes I brought were the ratty tennies I had on to walk the dog that morning before bolting for the airport. I had 1 hour to find dress shoes and with a little sleuthing on Yelp found this huge, seemingly spanking new mall complex and what I *thought* was a brand new DSW. I mean, the whole damn complex looks like it was just built, and the DSW is one of the nicer ones I've been in, very orderly, spacious, and filled with brand names like the Florsheim cap-toes with non-torture features (they're some kind of sub-brand within Florsheim with all kinds of bouncy cushioning and support to keep your feet from turning into hooves, but I'm too lazy to go see what the sub-brand is). Another review (there are three listings for this DSW on Yelp, so it's not only another review but another listing) mentions that it has already been remodeled. I mean, there is no way this store is more than about 2 years old, and it could pass for opened last month. They got nothing else to do that they remodel stores that have only been open 2 years? Sheesh. Shouldn't they be building more DSW's further out into the desert, in order to achieve their goal of growing Greater Phoenix out to the Arizona state line in every direction by 2012? Anyhow, compared to the DSW in the Union Square district in San Francisco, this one is so clean, tidy, and untrafficked in the middle of the day you could eat scrambled eggs off the floor without picking up anything untoward. read more

This particular location is great. It is always well stocked (literally thousands of shoes) and they seem to turn over new shoes more often than other DSW's. I'm a shoe addict a bargain fiend so this place is paradise. I have never left empty handed and on several occasions I have scored shoes that retail for over $200, for around $50. There are mirrors everywhere and bags placed all over the store to help you carry your newfound twin treasures. Oh and the rewards program rocks, they incent you for buying shoes and my last order I had $30 off in certificates. AWESOME! read more

I am a shoe addict. I also appreciate a good bargain. Whenever I am bored and have a little time on my hands, I like to take a walk through DSW. I think it is kind of like playing "dress up". You can try on anything and everything. Such fun! This location is one of the better ones I have visited. It is well-organized, and the stock turns over regularly. It is one of those hit or miss places - I will either leave with nothing or with an obnoxious amount of new footwear. You just never know. It has a fairly large clearance section as well - if you have the patience to look, bargains can often be found. Despite the rows upon rows of shoes here, I have a really hard time finding anything whenever I come here. I think the prices aren't that great ( I find the same brands at TJ MAXX for cheaper). If I'm lucky I will end up with a fairly good deal out of the clearance section. Call me crazy but I refuse to spend more than $50-60 bucks for a pair of shoes at a self-service joint! Staff here seems a little odd as well. One girl at my most recent visit appeared totally annoyed by customers & the 2 guys working seemed totally out of place like they should be working at Best Buy or Target, not a shoe store. The aisles are packed with hundreds of shoes. DSW goes the extra mile to make shoe shopping comfortable. You are never more than a few steps from a bench or chair where you can sit to try on your finds. They have mirrors everywhere so shoppers don't have to wander around looking. They place large shopping bags on hooks throughout the store to make carrying easier, and the service is always fast and friendly. Maybe Imelda would just move in. read more

DSW aka De Shoes Work! My personal motto for DSW shoes from my favorite location. I look at DSW as the dream glam closet I never had. Isles of shoes for every setting, wedding, date night, casual wear, fitness and much more. Since I am only dreaming I sure do enjoy my time while I am there. Trust me this is a not a shopping dream you wanted to go away. The moment you walk in the door your hit with a display of newly stock seasonal shoes along with a tiny jewelry section and large selection of hand bags to the right. This is one store I actually do walk down every isle to make sure I am not missing anything since I may feel the need to add something different to my personal closet. Plus there are often times I find sales that are not at the back of the store but mixed in with the non clearance items. The store is always neatly stocked. The shoes sizes are displayed properly to help you find your size. The staff on deck is not only kind but extremely helpful. If you don't find a shoe size in the store they have iPads readily available to search online for you. There is even an island in the middle of the store for anyone making purchases with a credit card for speedy checkout. Though I do have to say I have NEVER waited in a long line at this store. They have the service part on point. My last experience was yesterday. My Sunday shopping at 11am started here. If your'e in search for this summers hottest wedges. I happen to walk right past the wedges at the front door thinking they were not really my style. As I tried on a pair of really cute wedges I asked a lady who happened to be the store manager if she liked them on me. I explain to her how I wanted them to look. I'm about as cliche as it gets when it comes to being a guy and hating shoe shopping. It's boring. I only buy footwear based on necessity. I have virtually no style. I can't stand funky looking sneakers and usually end up with plain and simple black dress shoes. I also try to buy the cheapest pairs possible. This is what makes DSW perfect for me. There's actually a good selection of men's shoes. There are plenty of athletic, hiking, dress, casual and flip-flop styles to pick from. Many of the designs are simple and conservative. This store has just gone through a fantastic remodel. The interior used to be pretty bland with rows of shoes displayed on top of cardboard boxes; very much going with the warehouse vibe. The newly remodeled store goes for more of a boutique look. The walls now have an exposed brick look to them, the industrial ceilings are black with a large chandelier hanging in the entry. The clearance racks are now hidden behind curtains at the back of the store. Maybe it's the softer lighting, but it even seems like the shoe selection is a bit hipper. The men's section looks like it might be smaller, but the missing shoe selection has been replaced by a seating area and flat-screen TV tuned to sports. Call me crazy, but me thinks this may be a welcome change for some male patrons whose female companions plan on combing through aisle after aisle of cute shoes. I don't know if it has anything to do with the remodel, maybe they moved out a lot of stock to make way for the hipness, but they were kind of lacking in their boot selection. I feel like the place still had knee-high boots last summer, so it's kind of weird that they'd have such a minimal selection when it's still stinkin' cold outside. read more

At any location I've visited around the US, they have a great selection of casual shoes, heels, formal/bridal shoes, runners, sandals - you name it! They sell a range of brands for women - Michael Kors, Tahari, Nike, Nine West...the list goes on. The store is well-organized with attentive staff. If you're a regular or visiting the area, be sure to get a rewards card.
