I ordered speakers/amp/sub in a custom enclosure. I was very specific about maintaining unobstructed access to my spare tire and having a grille cover to protect the sub. We scheduled the install to be overnight from Monday morning to Tuesday evening before 5pm. The invoice didn't have logistics so I emailed to confirm but didn't hear back. I called the day prior to verify that getting a rental from Mon 9am to Tues 4pm was the right move and it was indicated that would work fine.
Tuesday by 12 I hadn't heard anything so I called and was informed the install was almost done but he could use extra time, preferably until next morning but there was the possibility of it being done that evening. I tried to extend my rental but was unable so I called to let them know I'd just come to town, get dinner and wait for completion. Eddie called back scolding me saying "If JL was doing this install it would take two weeks, and I really need the full 48 hours, I don't need to be rushed if you want me to do a decent job"... I ended up having to Uber 23 miles home and get a ride the next day.
Wednesday rather than being offered an inspection I was directed to pay up. I complied, $2k+ no questions asked. I was handed the keys and went to my car to find the job not completed as requested.
The spare tire cover was sealed over, obstructed by the sub cab, the lift flap handle torn, and no protective cover on the speaker. Eddie appeared and showed me that if I put my seats down I could shift the cover off, nearly breaking it, not cool. He said he didn't have grilles in stock that fit my sub (but he had 2 weeks prior to install to order that, so I was confused). It was hard to get a solution because he was talking to someone on his earpiece. I asked if he could send me the grille when it's in stock so I could do it myself and he recommended I bring the car back because his sub install is extremely tight, and it would only take 35 minutes to do. He continued speaking on his earpiece and began walking away like I was an inconvenience, so being Mr.Nice guy I extended a handshake and he walked away. No "Thanks for your business", just a "go home" vibe.
After driving home, I realized the above issues were deductions to the value of my vehicle. I decided to modify the spare tire cover myself, but gave Eddie the chance to make it right on the grille cover and flap, so I sent a friendly follow up email. In Eddies response he stated the flap was ripped when the car arrived, but he would re-attach it when I come in for the cover. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that I may not have noticed the ripped flap until I gave that part of my car attention due to the install, but after this ordeal I'm unsure.
2 weeks went by and no solution on the grille, I decided to order one myself and it arrived in a few days. It became clear the sub is completely sealed to the interior of the enclosure making it impossible to install the protective grille afterwards. It's obvious it needed to be applied during the install, the truth comes out. I emailed asking what his plan was and didn't hear back. Why am I the one emailing him to finish the job I paid him to do?
I called a few days later and was told they ordered the part but needed to find it before scheduling, I told them I already have the part & Eddie said it would only take 35 minutes. After being put on hold I was told Eddie would call back later. Clearly I've been given the run-around. I called back and Eddie asked why I was being pushy and said he needed time to order the part and to check if it came in, I repeated I already have the part. He said he doesn't order online he orders directly from Fosgate, I told him thats where I got mine from & its irrelevant. He then said he didn't understand why I was disappointed and felt the job was incomplete... I explained all the reasons and when I got to the topic of the obstructed spare tire access, he said he didn't get it, and asked if I was talking about the torn flap, I said "no, you sealed the spare tire access", and he said he didn't understand like he had amnesia, so I said "repeat after me, spare tire access" and he said "dude I will not be disrespected like this, when you calm down you can call back", and hung up on me.
I called back asking when we can schedule but every time I agreed to a time he extended it, from 35 min, to 1hr, to 2hrs, to a general "leave the car for more time". I decided to cancel because after my experience I don't trust him. The only incoming call I received from Eddie was in response to my 1 star google review and continued to argue with me about how I was disrespectful to him. He followed up with his own reply on Google where you see his take ; he accuses me of insulting him multiple times (not true) and describes that 48 hours means 3 days and various other untruths. It was a terrible experience to be falsely vilified by someone who took my money and messed up multiple aspects of the job. read more
