If you value your clothing and do not want everything ruined, then DO NOT take your clothes to Dryy DC! I dropped laundry off at the Morse St location and was told they "read the labels" and wash/dry accordingly. Not being one to take chances with getting my clothes shrunk, I additionally sent in several notes through the portal and spoke to the woman at the store to remind her to dry on low heat. When my clothes were returned ALL OF MY ITEMS WERE SHRUNK A FULL SIZE... Lululemon leggings, expensive denim, Vuori & Athleta joggers - all dried on high heat and terribly cared for. At least $700 of pants now unusable. I sent in several messages, left voicemails and never heard back from "Sandy" who allegedly runs the admin office. I've tried several cleaners since moving to the area. My usual is ZIPS, but Total Cleaners has changed my mind. I have tried the "valet" services before and wasn't super impressed with the quality and customer service. I tried Total Cleaners for the first time a few weeks ago and won't go any where else. They sent me a personalized text message thanking me for using them, when they picked up my garments. Then, I received another update letting me know my clothes were ready and on the way to be dropped off. This small touch definitely exceeded my expectations. Needless to say, their customer service is top-notch and the price is definitely a compliment to their attention to detail and stand out service. In addition to their keen eye for detail and service, the MWF pickup schedule really helps and keeps me organized. I just opened my garments after picking them up from the concierge desk; for the price that I paid to have my clothes dry cleaned and pressed, it is the worse I've seen in quiet a while. The half ass job that was done, I could've washed and ironed them myself and the outcome would've been far better. This is the third or fourth time that I've used your service - and there won't be another. One of my colleagues who lives in my building said he had a bad experience, but I said everyone should get a shot. Total Cleaners is convenient and costs basically the same as their competitors - what's not to like? I don't live near Total Cleaners, but they offer pickup and delivery to your house for free! You can schedule automatic pickups once or twice a week, or use their website to request a pickup. Around me, the dates are Tuesdays and Fridays. So if you schedule a pickup for Tuesday, you can expect your clothes to arrive, cleaned and ready to go, during the day on Friday. They do a really good job, and the convenience just can't be beat - no more rushing to the cleaners before they close on 7:00 pm. The delivery concept does require some thinking ahead, though. They also aren't available on big holidays (which is totally fair). Generally, their cleaning is great - I've had a few times when stains have not come out, but that's to be expected. There was also one button-down shirt I had where most of the buttons cracked. My tailor mentioned that sometimes this happens to shirts if the press that is used is too heavy and impacts the buttons. But, that's the only one shirt, so maybe I should just avoid that brand. Changing to Total Cleaners was convenient for me. They are reliable and helpful, and deliver clean clothes to my house. read more

This review is for excellent customer service following a discoloration incident with my favorite jacket, the first of which in over three years of using Total Cleaner's services. When I first noticed the bleach stain on the left elbow of a Theory jacket after dry cleaning, I called to speak with the management. We shared our differing views on what happened, but the owner ultimately offered to have the jacket analyzed by an off-site textile lab at no cost to me. About eight weeks later, the results confirmed discoloration from contact with bleach but did not conclusively link the incident to Total Cleaners. When I explained that I only wear the jacket in the office, where there is no bleach to be had, the own offered to reimburse me for 80% of the jacket's retail value. I was so impressed with the professionalism and care with which Seoha handled the situation. I look forward to continuing my relationship with Total! read more

Dryy DC partners with apartment buildings across Washington, DC to place lockers in the building where tenants can drop off their items for laundry or dry cleaning. The idea is good and is convenient for customers. The problem is that the company doesn't know how to dry clean garments. The first time I used them, I dry cleaned a few gloves and had no problem. The second time I used them, I gave them a few sweaters to dry clean. When the sweaters were returned, they reeked of a chemical smell.I wore one sweater to work and developed a headache all day from the stench. I couldn't wear the other sweaters and immediately emailed their customer service. They offered to redo the dry cleaning on the sweaters at no charge. They took over a week to return my garments and left a message that they were having a hard time removing the smell. When I received the sweaters back, the chemical smell was lessened but still faint. On top of that, my sweaters shrank!! I can't wear two of them now as they are too small. This business is awful! Just moved to a building with a Dryy drop inside, so I had to give it a try. Finding time to drop off and pick up dry cleaning every week has always been an unwelcome chore in the past. I just got my first Dryy order back last night--five shirts with light starch and one pair of pants. Everything looks great, and I didn't have to find time to run the errand to drop off and pick up. I did some research on yelp and other sites to find a wedding dress cleaner and Total Cleaners was the only local cleaner that had this specific service listed on their site. I brought my dress in on a Wednesday to get a quote for cleaning only. The person I spoke with took the dress out of the bag, inspected it, asked me questions about how long the stains were there, and then went to the back to ask the person who would be cleaning it if they thought all the stains could be removed. He came back promptly and told me that he was confident all the stains could be removed and gave me a price. They offered me free delivery and it was ready after that weekend. My only problem with this exchange was they told me they would call on Monday to set up a delivery time and I never received a call. I emailed them on Wednesday to see if it was ready and they apologized for not calling and delivered it that night. When I took the dress out, it looked good as new! All the spots were gone and even the bottom of the dress that was black and dingy was clean! I was very impressed! The price, I thought, was reasonable and much cheaper than I expected. I know it would have been more if I needed the dress pressed though. I would trust to tell anyone to bring your wedding/special event dresses here for cleaning. read more

My first time using a pick-up and delivery dry cleaning service and it was a great one! Who knew it was so hard finding a well-rated dry cleaning service in the Sterling/Ashburn area...? Anyway, the whole idea of a delivery service seemed a little luxurious to me. I'm not Kanye and I don't need special care to a multitude of leather joggers or anything in accordance with my manicured schedule, but after reviewing their prices the cost seemed quite reasonable. Trigger pulled. I opted for the "call as needed" and Thursday pick up. My clothes were delivered on Monday as scheduled. But I noticed three days later...a dress was missing. Whaaaat!? I sent an email to their customer service, politely inquiring and received a response within the hour explaining that they typically leave a note if items are coming at a later delivery and saw in the system that my (now not missing) dress is scheduled to be delivered today. They apologized that the note was missing from my delivery. Great service, super responsive and convenient. I will be using them again! read more

Ugh. I have a heavy comforter that is too big for my washing machine. Called around for a dry cleaners that does wet cleaning as well and found this place. They charged me $35 to wash my comforter. Expensive. In fact, 2x what another place quoted but the other place said it would take two weeks to get it back and this place said two days. Dropped it off and it was ready, as promised, in two days. Just got it back home and it's pretty obvious that they must have washed my comforter with someone else's close because my formerly light blue comfortable came back a light purplish pink. The pics are of the pillow case that USED to match the comforter lying the comforter post-wash. Not the best lighting but it's pretty clear they no longer match. Very upset. Love this comforter. If they had simply taken the time and care to wash it by itself it wouldn't be ruined. Needless to say, I will never return. read more

I had a positive experience using them for the first time last week. I dropped off 2 fairly expensive wool coats for them to dry clean. They picked it up on the same day and took 3 business days to clean and drop off my coats. I love that they provide you with a reusable bag for dirty clothes and they were also very responsive when I emailed and called with questions. The minus 1 Star is because I think the app could be better with more "live" updates of order statuses and ETA on when the customer can expect their orders to be delivered. I would reuse them again because you just can't beat the convenience. I'm all about convenience these days, amazon prime, amazon fresh, Instacart, etc. The more I can delegate a chore to someone else, the more personal time I get back to work out, plan & organize, spend quality time with friends and family. Services like these really help better my quality of life, but that's just my personal opinion. I know people still like to go to Costco for the "experience" or have more control of what they want to purchase. To each their own. The prices aren't the cheapest in the area by any means, but they deliver and pick up from my building, and I really don't mind paying for convenience. I tend to think of it as a victory when clothes come back neatly pressed, and they're able to get out chalk and other assorted drunken stains that your friend has gotten on your expensive suit jacket - I don't even remember allowing him to wear the jacket, but hey, what are friends for. The only thing they can perhaps improve on is letting customers know what their delivery/pick-up schedule is. My quest for the perfect dry cleaners apparently continues ... Pros: They had pick-up service where I was living. They have pick-up service when I moved to. They pick-up all over the DC area. Always on time, both pick-up and delivery. Cons: Slightly more pricey than average. Like _every_ dry cleaners on earth, sometimes shirts come out about as bad as when you handed them in. The reason I stopped using them, however, is that they ripped a cuff on one of my shirts while undoing the buttons and then had the ****ing gall to ask me if I'd like for them to repair it for me ... at my cost. You have got to be kidding me. Sum: Pretty reliable service overall, ruined by one terrible incident, that I wish they'd owned up to. read more

I've used Total Cleaners for two years now. No issues until the past few months. My shirts started coming back dirty (i.e., uncleaned). I contacted the cleaners and they asked that I send back the shirts in question, which I did. When the shirts returned, two shirts were permanently stained and unwearable, and another inexplicably no longer fit. I really do not understand what happened with the last shirt. The buttons now pucker as the shirt is too tight around the chest, and the sleeves are an extra 3 inches long. It is mind boggling; did they buy me a replacement shirt in a different size? These were nice shirts, too, at over $150 each. In any event, I wrote back and received no response. I've switched cleaners and suggest everyone else do the same. read more

The man who answered the phone was extremely rude, could barely form sentences he was jumping around so much, and to make matters worse, hung up on me after saying, 'I have other customers waiting..bye'. Total Cleaners never called me back from my 2 phone calls last week when I left messages saying that none of the shirts they picked up need HAND PRESSING. So today they dropped off 5 of my husband's laundered shirts, the bill was over 27 dollars--this week they decided his uniform shirt needed hand pressing too after washing too--so my weekly bill keeps growing. They hand pressed them all--they can get away with this crap because it is pick up and drop off at your door and you don't have a customer screaming in front of others why THEY decided 5 poly cotton shirts need hand pressing instead of the shirt price they advertize. I never asked for it EVER. Soooooo I left NOTHING for them to pick up this, and there will be NOTHING next week or the week after until they call me back. I went to the Elden Street 1.99 dry clean dropped off 5 REI shirts, pants for laundry and one sweater for dry clean--all under 10 bucks total. I have used Total Cleaners for several years now. They are always prompt and friendly. My understanding is that they have some of the best cleaning and pressing equipment on the market, including several massive machines that have been imported from Europe. I would trust them with any of my personal clothing, all of which is high-end custom. With as little as a 2 day turnaround, its a hard deal to beat. One of the biggest differences with the clothing that you will notice is the lack of odor. Many drycleaners don't change their solutions often due to the costs involved. This often leaves a light "funk" in the clothing- its actually the smell of reused cleaning solution. Total Cleaners is one of the only drycleaners I know of that can finish a garment completely odor free. A cleaner chemical process also means less damage to the garment, preserving the delicate oils in the wool, ultimately keeping it softer for longer. In my opinion, the quality of their cleaning process represents a commitment to delivering a superior product. I don't understand the other reviews about the owner being mean. He has personally dropped off clothes to me on several occasions when I have made a special order. I'm sure he has plenty of other things to do. Instead he took the time to drive out to me, collect feedback, and have a face to face conversation. That's superb customer service.
